Using under armour now, love the barren camo, lightweight hoodie being my favorite! sizes fit weird but willing to figure out what I need bc the pattern. Always wanted to try Sitka.
First Lite Obsidian merino pant, Chama 3/4 zip, Sawtooth jacket. Early season elk. Comfortable all day and even all night to sleep in. Like hunting in ninja jammies.
Haven't tried Sitka, but I'm sure it's also amazing. I'm sure this video will serve people well. Sitka's website it almost too busy with too many options IMO. Like an Applebee's menu.
I live in MD but we don’t get hardly any snow and the subalpine works year round. All of this “big game” gear I use in a tree saddle. Early season: Apex pants, core lightweight hoody. Mid season: merino lightweight top and bottom, Apex pants, Apex hoody. Mid-late season: merino light or heavy top and bottom, Apex pants, Apex hoody, Kelvin lite down jacket.. this will take me down to the low 30s. Low 20s to teens I’ll put on Fanatic bibs. Sitka makes the best gear, their customer service and warranty is the best.
Awesome video Dan! 😃👍🏻 I love sitka gear systems. Super high quality and durability. This video was a better description than sitka does itself. I love the lightweight core hoody; awesome built in features and always protection from the sun in the mountains. A must have piece. I love the apex pants too; especially for early archery in September. Great video! 😃👍🏻
New bow hunter and slowly adding Sitka to my gear as I prepare for my hunt next fall. This is very helpful to what direction I need to go for adding to what I already have.
I love the knee pads in sitka gear, i dont understand why other brands havent jumped on the bandwagon of knee pads. I have been looking for snowboard pants with knee pads, they are so useful!!
Outstanding review, exactly what i was looking for! Thank you. Now i'm going to look for a release review to see what you use; i currently have a wise choice but i may want a wrist type for hunting elk.
I can’t afford Sitka, and I’m ok with that my bow is mossy oak so I run MO, but last year I learned that there is a big difference between early season and late season. It was Oct 1st 52 degrees and I was in early season. Man I had four “air holes” in my crotch area. Man I had a buck making a scrap at 11 yards couldn’t see him trees in the way. I was so cold I couldn’t draw my bow. I was shooting 45 lbs at the time!
Just how waterproof is the storm front top and bottom? Fall hunting in Alaska can be very wet. Anything from hiking through soaked grass and brush to sitting in a downpour.
Have you looked at the different pieces fit? There’s performance fit and standard fit. I usually go up a size for performance because it is smaller but standard is spot on.
Brandon Moser didn’t know there was too sized like the pullover flash I got did not show different styles just camo patterns and it runs small in large for a pullover iam not fat but it’s tight in arms and waist works but would like looser
None, if I want to be invited back to the hunting camp next year. Fortunately there is an Army surplus store near me with everything I need to bow hunt from the heat of Sep thru the snows of Jan.
Awesome video thank you! Just for reference what size is most of this clothing? I’m around 5’9 and 135 lbs. very slim haha, would Small fit well? Or would it still be bulky?
Noticed that you mentioned the thunderhead is NOT waterproof and is loud. Not sure if you grabbed the wrong jacket/pant but the thunderhead is 100% waterproof and much much quieter than 99% of rain gear because of the brushed face fabric it has. Just pointing it out. No biggie
This is perfect timing because I am currently building my system, just got the mountain pant and already have base layers. Would you say the apex hoody and heavyweight are equal with thickness? Would you choose the kelvin vest or the active hoody if you had to choose between the two? Thanks for great content again!
Do any of there clothes run big or small or in between? If you laying off of that. I would think you’ll need to get bigger sizes depending on the layer
I can’t buy any hunting pants that come in S/M/L because hunting companies don’t make clothes for guys who lift and have athletic shapes. They’ll always either be too tight in the legs/butt or I size up and they’re huge in the waist.
Already have the ascent pant and the core LW hoody. Bought those this year for spring turkey here in the southeast. I’m going on my first mule deer hunt in central California around the last week of the season and can only afford a couple pieces. Would like to get a new set of pants a decent puffy jacket ( kelvin lite hoody ) and possibly a rain jacket as well. For someone with a tight budget wanting those couple items what do you recommend?
Thanks for the reviews. Quick question. I’m about 5’8 athletic build (185 lbs) and I found my stormfront jacket in Medium a bit small, riding up my waist when zipped up. I recently ordered a Large. Just curious how the thunderhead fits in comparison. If a Large in the stormfront works out, would a Large in Thunderhead be alright? Or even an XL since it is a more athletic fit. What you reccomend?! Thanks
What's your favorite piece of clothing gear for September?
kelvin active jacket

Cheap Walmart camo and other attire that's in my closet lol. Hunting from a blind so the deer won't see me much anyways lol
If you’ve ever wondered what $10,000 worth of camo looks like.;) thanks for the GREAT info
It’s a lifestyle bro. And you’re probably pretty close to that number.
I own everything in there Whitetail line in the elevated 2.
I’m well over 5000

Glad to hear it!
Will buy little at a time when on sale I’ve bought under armour over the years different years but same barren camo pattern works great too

I love the knee pads in sitka gear, i dont understand why other brands havent jumped on the bandwagon of knee pads. I have been looking for snowboard pants with knee pads, they are so useful!!
The reason most other brands don't. Is because men aren't supposed to be on their knees. That's your womans job weirdo!!
Just want to say thank you looking to buy gear for when I head out west this year and couldn’t figure out what to buy !!
glad it helped!! it can be confusing for sure - TC
DAN...NICELY PRESENTED...GREAT CHOICES FOR OUT WEST..MUCH APPRECIATED FOR SHARING WITH US ALL ..THANK YOU !!!!!
Outstanding review, exactly what i was looking for! Thank you. Now i'm going to look for a release review to see what you use; i currently have a wise choice but i may want a wrist type for hunting elk.
Hey so ascent pants do have pockets inside for knee pads if you want to put them. They do come with out the pads but you can transfer them.
Nice video!! Keep killing it guys👍
Thanks Zach
Jet stream is my favorite
Just bought the apex pants recently for archery elk this year!
word!!
The Apex Kit is 👌

Just keep hunting - that's most important first .. TC
Check out Nomad. What I run. Really warm, really quiet, moderately priced. I’m ordering some Sitka Whitetail this season in small batches.
Just how waterproof is the storm front top and bottom? Fall hunting in Alaska can be very wet. Anything from hiking through soaked grass and brush to sitting in a downpour.
The ascent pants have pockets for knee pads. I put the pads from my mountain pants in my ascent pants!!!
word!
Maybe the earlier version of the ascent pants didn't have knee pad pockets?
My accents has pockets for knee pads!
Absolutely great gear!
Agreed!
Great gear have a few pieces but hard to find for big guys especially on sale. Great video best layering info so far
Appreciate it!
@@ElkShape wish i could afford alot more pieces of subalpine. Only drew otc tag this year in 3rd choice so maybe next year
Love their gear but always buy 1 size bigger...in my experience then run a little small...
Agree they run small I use mostly under armour but have bought a couple things and they are cut for male runway models 😂
Have you looked at the different pieces fit? There’s performance fit and standard fit. I usually go up a size for performance because it is smaller but standard is spot on.

This channel is awesome keep it up great information!!!!!
Appreciate it!
Can you tell that friend of yours to make mens size xs there’s some small people in the world that want to experience that great gear
Hunting brands are really bad about this, like kuiu barely even sells small size
Why doesn’t Sitka make pants with zip hips to dump heat?? Kuiu nailed it with them!
Awesome video thank you!
Just for reference what size is most of this clothing? I’m around 5’9 and 135 lbs. very slim haha, would Small fit well? Or would it still be bulky?

Let's take a moment to appreciate that he changes his shirt so many times and his hat never came off.
Lol - 🙏
So Ascent pants without knee pads would you recommend for early tree stand hunting? Or what would you recommend?
This is perfect timing because I am currently building my system, just got the mountain pant and already have base layers. Would you say the apex hoody and heavyweight are equal with thickness? Would you choose the kelvin vest or the active hoody if you had to choose between the two? Thanks for great content again!
Apex is a touch more material - I would chose the active hoody! -DS
Do any of there clothes run big or small or in between? If you laying off of that. I would think you’ll need to get bigger sizes depending on the layer
Pretty sure you can put knee pads in the asent pants brother.. i got a pair

Get that puffy Kelvin Lite Hoody and then work down the list from there brother -DS
Elk Shape thank you so much for responding. You all have gotten me into western hunting and archery.
Whsts your size pants on those

Yes, go with a Large or even an XL given your build! -DS
@@ElkShape Cheers. Large ended up fitting 👌🏻
What's that about $10k in hunting clothing?
About same build as you
Size that you wear in there pant?
This is like 10,000$ worth of gear lmaooo sweet stuff though
Pitch good one Dan. Thats probably what i would've said also !! "My butts been wiped". Quote from the pretender and election thief joe bin laden !!
