  • Today we embark on our 40-mile and 40-lock journey through Birmingham, with the van in Catherine dee Barnes on the Grand Union Canal, thanks to our lovely subscribers Kath and Shane, we now must head to the van in 2 days in order to get back to it so dad can go to work on the weekend. Although will be doing this in two very long days, that doesn't mean we won't be visiting a few places, such as today, we head down the 3-mile dead-end canal of Dudley no2, which originally joined the Birmingham and Worcester canal, but thanks to the collapsed Lapal tunnel, it's now a dead end to Hawne Basin, but its not going to be an easy trip!

    Nice one Josh

To date the van seems to be a money pit. Hoping it will all make sense after this round of work and that you all have years of enjoyment with it.

So kind of the council to provide those modern art sculptures, though one did just look like a melted wheelie bin lol.

I loved that vlog Josh. Got my map out of Birmingham Canal Navigations I bought from Jo on Perseverance and followed your journey. They are lucky to have that navigation going through but what a terrible shame about the plastic rubbish and some of it ending up round your propeller. It’s a real disaster all the factories going and all the work and apprenticeships. I know it was hard work but it was work for local people. There is so much green though and all the birds living along there. We explored the old Delph locks along time ago so glad you can still find them. Those cascades are amazing as you went up the locks. The tunnel was scary and so low. I think it’s the one that has a vent in someone’s front garden. I haven’t seen any canal vlogs go right down there to Hawne basin so really nice to see. Look forward to next time. Thanks.

  • @janjones-465

I can't believe you made it all the way to Hawne Basin and didn't get some cheap diesel.

  • @colin125gwr

    interesting

  • @NarrowboatWill

🤣 I'm sure between us we could've fixed your van brakes.

Should of gone into the basin, pump out is £10 and cheapest fuel on the cut
