My scariest ride was Splash Mountain in the USA (yes I live in the UK but it was my holiday to the US) and my scariest UK ride was the smiler. I did not enjoy it and now I'm too scared to even ride Spinball Whizzer-
I went to LEGOland Windsor years ago, and I was disappointed. We had to queue for an hour to get on any of the rides, and I felt too old for them even though I was, like, nine.
Incredible video and great colab as always with this channel! Definitely game changing coasters, especially rides like the smiler showing that you can get and insane rides with insane themeing! Great job!
@@ScrewyLoops no problem, I absolutely love watching your videos and it's great getting to speak to you and others when watching the premiere. Can't wait for the next video and great job on this one!
Glad to see The Smiler and Lech on here. The Smiler because its undeniable just how insane it is in terms of construction and in the limitations they had to work with. With a tiny footprint, the fact that it was the prototype Infinity coaster, that it had to fit under the treeline and on top of all that was a record breaker, Gerstlauer and Alton Towers pulled off a perfection in coaster form. Lech is awesome for showing the world that Vekoma can still go toe to toe with the big boys of the industry and produce an exciting coaster.
You just popped up in my suggested videos; for once the algorithm did good! This is awesome, great to find another unapologetically British coaster channel 😄
If it was a game changing coasters of the 00’s, G-Force at Drayton manor, it was the first modern day lap bar inverting coaster, without that we wouldn’t have something like steel vengeance
If this video does alright I may have to do that one 😜👍 although I'm pretty sure coasters like Schwarzkopf and Premier had lapbars on coasters around that time, will have to look into it :)
Screwy you are right. They did have lap bars with loops LONG before this. Hell, the first modern looping coaster EVER, had lap bars. The Revolution Why do people randomly fabricate stats and things completely untrue.? He literally stated something was "The first modern day blah blah blah"....... I love it when people give their randomly created false stats fancy names to try and make people think they know what they're talking about. Then a jerk like me comes along and makes them feel, rightfully stupid for falsely fabricating such a thing.
Thank you for the credit you gave to New Texas Giant. I sometimes have to remind that to people who say it's one of the weaker RMCs. It's the game changer. It may not have inversions but it doesn't need it. Shit it's taller than at least half the RMCs and has great air time and better duration.
Very happy to see The New Texas Giant on this. I grew up with the original Texas Giant , which won the Golden Ticket, for best wooden roller coaster twice, and I was extremely mad when I heard about them changing it. That beings said, when I rode the new one for the first time, it quickly became my favorite ride ever. I am biased, since SFOT is my childhood park and went nearly every weekend till I was 18, but the giant really does deserve a spot on this list. Having the best of a wood and steel coaster combined is a major accomplishment.
These are just a handful, there were a fair few more we were tossing and turning over but didn't get the cut (Hagrid's, Fury 325 and Steel Vengeance to name a few!) Thanks mate 🙂👍
The only Vekoma I've ever been on is wipeout in Pleasurewood Hills. It is the roughest thing I've ever ridden. Like other boomerangs, it has a cobra roll. Because it was so rough I hit my head on the restraint and had a bad headache for over an hour.

Getting all those SLCs for the Bermuda Blitz is like how Sony released the Emoji Movie and then released Spider-Verse. You got a bunch of low quality items made purely for profit, then they show that they truly appreciate the art of their medium with a masterpiece likely created using the funds gained from the cheap stuff.
Hey Chris Im planning a trip to Alton towers and last time I went (it’s a long way away) I got around 50 minutes for everything and it was term time. When would you recommend a trip to go for low queues and a good time? Thanks
B&M created nice rides. But they aren't inventive or innovative in any way shape or form. They havetheir boring recipe for success and they never stray far from it. Their only true inventions are really just novelty and gimmicky coasters, ie. Dive, wing, etc. Take Fury and Tatsu out and they haven't ever made an intense coaster.. now one could argue their inverts, and I do agree. But even then, they were still just working off of someone else's original invention. I am not dogging B&M, they are great doing their thing. I do think they are incredibly overrated. But that's it.
Why does the Wonder Woman coaster remind me of an old racing car track from the '70s? Was that the intention. I feel like a few European coaster trips need to be on the cards after watching that.
The smiler is good and all, but by god do the headrests smell god awful. My fave part of the smiler are the airtime moments lol. And you always have to see who puts their arms down first!
Hey dude, what language are you speaking? Is that English? JK JK Just for the record, arrow and vekoma were not actually Rivals as many think. They actually didn't steal arrows track designs and other things as people think. They actually partnered up with arrow in a way, that Arrow actually taught vekoma how to build their track. In an effort to form a partnership in which arrow created US coasters, and vekoma created the coasters for overseas
I am not a fan of formula rossa as it has a break run just after the launch. It would be much better if they increaced the banking of the turns so it could maintain a higher speed throught the course.
To his defence, I love Taron to bits and see nothing overrated about it. Not every major coaster needs loops, large drops and airtime to be considered great. Taron was designed to be a proper terrain coaster which interacts heavily with its surrounding structures, and it does that to perfection.
