  • This is the siren that came right after the Thunderbolt 1000T unfortunately got the boot. This electronic warning siren later got replaced with a Federal Signal electronic warning siren with a variety of tones and possibly voice announcements such as "TORNADO WARNING" or "THIS IS A TEST." I'm not familiar with it, but there are plenty of people who know about it and posted their videos of it here on RUclips. Allen, Texas still has these ATI systems warning sirens, but with 2 rows of 4 speaker drivers stacked up, if you are interested in more videos of this type of siren sounding off. I was working for the electrical company that installed the city of Allen's warning ATI siren at Fire Station 5 on McDermott Street.

It would be funny to have a recording of Beavis and Butthead sounding through a Whelen 2910. "HA HA!! THIS IS A TORNADO WARNING!! TAKE SHELTER NOW, OR I'LL KICK YOUR BUTT!!! I do laugh about this idea.

Good thing this was replaced by an dual tone federal signal DSA6
The DSAs provide WAY better coverage and get your attention way faster with the dual tone sound

Yes, but now there is another electronic siren with multiple speaker drivers made by Federal Signal that replaced the ATI siren in this video. It has better and possibly louder sound output than the ATI siren, though I don't know what model it is. RUclips has a few videos of it when it was newly installed. I used to work at General Cinema Prestonwood theater in the Village on the Parkway shopping center back in 1996. The theater is long gone, but I remember when the Thunderbolt got its monthly test. I once went up on the rooftop to watch the Thunderbolt rotate and hear it roar. I still miss it to this day. I went to the shopping center with my camcorder to film the siren test, but to my disappointment, the Thunderbolt was gone, and this siren was in its place. This video was made a few years after this new siren was installed. I think it's crazy to invest in a wimpy, low volume siren that sounds like it was made as a science fair project with ice cream truck speakers, and then donated to the city for outdoor warning notification. Hope you did not mind the Cocoa Puffs commercial short clip I put in there by the way. Allen, Texas currently uses these ATI SYSTEMS sirens, but they have 2 "4 speaker" sets for best sound volume output. Thank you for your question, it's a pleasure to answer it.

I was an electrician who worked for an electrical services contractor. We had nothing to do with the siren manufacturer, we rented a crane and hoisted the siren unit onto the utility pole, ran the wiring down the inside of the pole, through the metal conduit body, and into the power supply control metal box enclosure just above the ground. To install a new siren involves electricians, along with concrete and excavating experts who specialize in utility pole installation. Might also need a siren installation and computer expert. These areas of expertise are also needed when solving problems with an existing siren when it stops working, sounds off when it's not supposed to, or causes undesired or unreliable operation.

@@wadessirenvideos6750 I’m familiar with what it takes to get a siren installed, it’s certainly no small task. Lots of heavy equipment, less so on the computer mumbo jumbo. I simply didn’t know if the shop you worked for sold ATI or what LOL

@@TheSirenSeeker The company I worked for is an electrical services contractor, and not affiliated with the siren manufacturer. We were only contracted to get the electrical power source to the siren and power it up. ATI Systems sent the siren unit to our electrical workshop on a wood pallet with clear plastic and heavy duty binding strap wrapped around it. We unpacked it, checked the electrical wiring, and made the appropriate wire connections at the terminals. On the day of the installation, we put the siren speaker driver assembly onto a truck bed and secured it with adjustable strap clamps. Once at the location, we connected the hoist ropes and hooks to the siren and hoisted it up as another electrician was on a boom lift to assure it was aligned properly to avoid an expensive accident. Then the final mounting takes place with bolts, brackets, etc. I have included this information since not everyone knows how a siren installation takes place, and some people would enjoy reading this. I enjoy sharing information, which is one of the biggest reasons for my RUclips channel and video content, and sincerely thank all who see my videos and comment. I appreciate your videos and channel as well.
