Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman commented on the Security Council's decision to lift sanctions on the son of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Karman mocked the talk about Ahmed Ali's return to power, saying: "Al-Habila - referring to Ahmed Ali - was elected as the vice president of the Houthi-affiliated conference led by Abu Ras immediately after his father's assassination in Sana'a, and he did not refuse this position, which he still holds. If he returns, he will return to his master, the Houthi, who gave him half of the Republican Guard through treachery and betrayal before entering Sana'a, and the other half through failure and cowardice during the ten-hour battle between his father and the Houthis, which resulted in the death of his father after the collapse of the other half of the Republican Guard forces, which were still actually obeying his orders and surrendering with all their equipment and personnel to the Houthis." Karman concluded her comment by addressing those who talk about Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh's return to political life again, saying: "More foolish than Al-Habila is he who expects that he will have any role in restoring the state from the Houthis or that he is fit for any role at all. If a miracle happens and God resurrects those in the graves and re-engineers them, shout to me and I will send him back to you in a coat!!!"
