As our boys grow older, their needs will change in this smaller bedroom space. I renovated it a few years ago, but it was in need of a refresh as separate twin beds suited them better. Even children need a place to call theirs. They may not remember all their special “trinkets,” but they will remember that you valued them as much as they did.
The room came out so cute, and actually snake skins, rocks, and turtle shells are perfect decor for a boys' room.😊 Brilliant under bed storage. idea.

This turned out beautiful for your boys! Our one and only son loved primary colors up until he was about 12, so his room was done in navy and royal blues and red- the red was a quilted Roman shade with white stars on it that I made, his bedspread was navy and his sheets were either white or multi-colored stripes that he picked out at 5 years old and loved until about 10. All the other colors in his room was his Tonka trucks, GI Joes, dinosaurs, and whatever he wanted to keep in his room from his daily adventures (live snakes were in an aquarium). At 12, he went all camouflage though I drew the line at his bedding being camouflage, he was really into hunting and fishing by then, so, we compromised and did his room in dark greens and navy with animal and fish prints on his walls (walls was a deep navy blue and duvet a dark green with beige sheets), hung his dad’s old fly rod on the wall, along with an old black powder pouch, some old arrows with yellow fletches, framed prints of deer, elk, bear, trouts and also a brown trout mount from my husband’s collection of mounts. When he moved out after doing a stint in the Marine Corps, he took all of his bedroom with him (his bed was a queen size we got when he turned 12), and he more or less “decorated” his bedroom in his rental the same as his old bedroom. Boys are definitely very different and we also had 2 girls with very distinct styles almost from the beginning!

I think only people without little boys would think a basket of snake skins and turtle shells is gross. These are quintessential boy. Seeing the decor, made me think , as they grow, a theme is no longer an option for Mama. They get their own style, their own vision, their decor, , action figures, treasures, books, sports and hobby items . And they want them on display. So enjoy it while you can. At some point boys will be boys... as they say. Two beds for $40.00... what a steal. They look gorgeous. But that under bed storage is amazing!!!! What a clever solution.

I don’t think you have to have boys to appreciate kids’ found natural treasures! I have four daughters and use old letterpress drawers to display their dead bugs, rocks, feathers, driftwood, antlers, and plant specimens. It’s always cool when kids are into nature. But I get what you’re saying; neither my mother nor my grandmother would’ve allowed that stuff in their homes.
@@Kristin8275 I actually grew up in a family of 3 girls. 2 of us were girlie girls with doll house and stuff. but my little sister was the tom boy (as it was called back in the 50s} so she had all those things, animals, bugs, fishing and marbles and boy stuff.

The room looks terrific! The under bed storage is genius. So glad that each boy has a bed; I never feel that trundle beds give an "equal" vibe. While the beds look very glam with the layers of duvets and pillows, I can't imagine young boys creating that look when making their beds. So I would try to keep things simple and eliminate the layered bed look...even though I think the aesthetic is great.

I love the boys’ treasures! We use an old Ball jar for our collection of fossilized turtle bone and shell that we have collected from the beach. They are displayed on our bathroom window sill. The boys’ room looks beautiful.♥️

This room turned out so cute for the two boys it is full of boy charm, I had two boys who shared a room and we had done it in a nautical theme they had many collections of shells and drift wood. I miss those days, they are now grown men with children of their own.
