Hi, happy to find this channel, How can i scale and transform and change the projection of individual image texture inside any material like the projection shader wich is not supported in vray 5 (i try,not working). i want to do leyering of image textures in a channel, some of them in cubic,uvw and projection mapping, in octane i use the projection node in every image texture, i love to use vray again but dont know how to do this to make the switch. thanks for the videos.
on this video you can see how to setup displacement (34':00'') ruclips.net/video/Xz7tpWjvZ8Q/видео.html I've used the 2D mode but you can use the standard 3D mode as well;)
It's very easy, you can do it with both two sided material and standard material. Lately Im using mostly the standard material, once you setup the basic shader you go to refraction>translucency, activate SSS and copy the diffuse color in to SSS and fog colors, this will give you a good starting point, then you can tune color and reflection
Hi André, in Vray5 there is no need for advanced bitmap for DR, standard C4D bitmap are fully supported, like many other C4D shaders (filter, layer, noise2D/3D etc)
Hi. I have all you previous Vray Shader packs which work for 3.7 - Do you know if they will work with 5 or will all previous shaders be broken? Not looking forward to having to remake hundreds of materials I've created with versions up to 3.7.................
Hi Karl, unfortunately conversion of old shaders is very poor right now, it works mostly with very simple materials, anything complex most likely will work partially or won't work at all. Developers are well aware of that and eventually they will try to improve the conversion quality. That being said in my experience with every major release (and Vray5 is literally a brand new software) the best option is to rebuild shaders from scratch, you will be able to improve your skills, take advantage of new features and have no compatibility issues. We do not plan to update the old bundle since with today's tools we will be able to offer far better products, the first bundle we will offer is a collection of hundreds of extremely advanced metal shaders ruclips.net/video/SkZip4cQujg/видео.html we will surely offer discount for our customers ;)

When I do a video clip as texture with render c4d everything is ok, because I add my video in material and then I do Editor-animate preview, and done,.. but where is animate preview with vray? I cant found:( maybe you know and can help me! I need do object integration in real video! thank you so much!
@@jantobiska6782 Hi, in order to load a video clip you just need to choose a compatible video format, then load it inside a VrayC4Dbake shader, then it should work like in Cinema standard renderer. You will not be able to animate the preview from the shader ball inside the preview but if you update the frame number you will be able to see the results in both the shader ball and the viewport. @@3DRenderandBeyond thanks for the reply... sorry but my question was not defined correctly what if I have 1 object which has multiple materials and each material has different displacement map? How can I add multple VrayGeometry tags to a single object?
Hi, you can do that by using a bump material. Once you have created your shader with the normal map you can add a bump material and load the shader inside of it, that way you can have as many bumps/normals as you want ;)
Hi Massimo, when you open a 3.7 scene Vray 5 ask if you want to convert all the assets. Unfortunately the converter is not that good and unless 3.7 shaders were very simple, there is a good chance that you won't get decent results. Eventually the converter will get better over time but right now your best bet is to rebuild shaders and lights from scratch.

The following is a list of some of the problems I´m having... -I have a problem assigning material to selected polygon (Set Selection) -I can´t get VolumeGrid or Environment Fog to work. -And V-RayDirt doesn´t seem to work either. Hi, in my experience all those features works perfectly, be sure to have the latest build installed because a lot of stuff have been corrected since the original release. Here you can see some example about how the dirt shader works: ruclips.net/video/cf7zz82ly6I/видео.html and on our blog you can find a basic description for the environment fog: www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/vray5-lights-cameras-volumetrics-renderelements/ I've never played with the volume grid but as far as I know it should work.

@@Inkkid-ee3os it works just like with the Cinema native system, select one polygon, >apply the Vray material to the polygon, or select polygon>set selection>assign the Vray material on the object from the object manager>assign the polygon selection on the material tag

when you import the texture C4d asks you about copying the file to the folder of the 3d file you are working on. For some reason this makes c4d think you just want to use the first frame! like an image texture... JUST SAY NO when you select your movie file and the pop question asks you about this.. Say no. Its seems counter intuitive because of course you want to copy the damn file.. but for some reason click NO is the answer. It has been this way for YEARS and YEARS...I remember when i didnt know this everytime I needed to use a movie file as a texture I would be like SHIT this is going to cause some freaking problems...until one day someone showed me like I am showing you!!! LOL

In 3.7 you had to make everything an Vray Advanced material, but what about Vray 5?

Hi, once you add the geometry tag to the object you need to click on it and drag the material tag you need inside the material tag slot ;)

You can use the native C4D filter shader ;)

where is the displacement map??
Hi Eddie, you will find the Geometry tag among the Vray tag in the object manager, you can control displacement there;)
Can you put a video material in this version?
I don't think it is possible but it will come for sure in the final release
