So how does it work? Matches last fifty minutes with two teams of twenty-seven men facing off against each other. There are no substitutions allowed, once you’re too injured to carry on you are gone and nobody takes your place. This is important so remember it as it goes along way to explaining why the sport looks so barbaric. A goal net runs the width of each end and the match takes place in a arena covered in sand with a halfway line marked out. Teams compromise of the following: - 4 goalkeepers - 3 full backs -5 half backs - 15 forwards A captain for each team remains in the centre of his side’s goal but doesn’t actually participate, instead they organise their team’s strategy (yes, there is actually a strategy). How does a team win? The aim of the game is to score more goals than the other team after fifty minutes of play. How you do this is really up to you. Teams can use any means necessary whether that be throwing, kicking or even walking/running it in. But there’s a catch, if a team misses the goal a half point is awarded to their opponent. This encourages teams to get as close as they can before finishing. Which in turn encourages a whole lot of violence. One man will have the ball at all times, the other 26 players on his team essentially act as blockers. they will engage opponents in full on fights in order to create space for a run or shot. All fights must be one one one as players cannot be attacked by more than one opponent at a time. Head-butts, elbowing and choking are all allowed but sucker punches and kicks to the head are not (though they do appear to happen). As mentioned earlier, there are no substitutions which in turn produces an incentive for players to batter their opponent to the point where he cannot carry on, giving their team a numerical advantage. Referees roam the field seeking to enforce what little rules there are but essentially it’s carnage.
+john j o fatharta Ah, thankyou for that! I got the general rules, the team "advisors" (older guys in full uniform) and various referees down (the red and white wearing guy being the main ref, red and black lesser refs and the blokes in blue waving the feathered fans breaking up illegal or overly heated fights) but I did wonder about the half goals.. It seems although its one on one during a "challenge", people can still be tackled by another player from behind if the other person quickly disengages. There seems to be a rule with pins too, theres no striking on the ground and I don't know if its just the men being tired or that they have to stay put for a set time, but once pinned they are down for a while, not sure if they can scoot out or have to wait? Anyway, I bet the sport has changed with the growth of MMA over the last 20 years, the players becoming more refined fighters.. Its very cool, a "new" favorite sport!
ma com'è che nel 2015 le partite del calcio storico vengono ancora filmate con questa risoluzione di merda? Sembra un filmino fatto col cellulare di mia nonna.
kent kendall . But at your countries did U not have any older tradition? This is NOT Rugby or American football! This is a florentian older tradition! STOP! Nothing more than this! I just may say that is quite older as is! But for sure haves nothing to see with similar encoded sports! It's a sort of free battle and for many florentians to have the honour to partecipate is a question of proudness! Personally I dislike violence but I've full respect for tradition that doesn't kill anybody, even animals, as happends for example with the bull's race, the spanish corrida and so on!
(ieri 24.6.017)
Strength & Condition Performance Training No kicks to the head or cheap shots; refs will kick out from the match. Fights must be 1v1. 27 to each team. 15 men on each team are forwards (fighters) the others strategize moving the ball to the far wall then toss it over for one point or throw in from afar for half point. Chokes, Knockouts, and severe injuries eliminate the player from the match with no substitutions. The only thing I dont understand myself is the rules when a successful takedown is accomplished. I assume when one of the men has a dominate position the refs put them in some grid lock for a period of time or until a point is scored. 50min match
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, so this is a game for soccer hooligans? to all the youngsters that find this inspiring, when you play this sport, you will find that on the age of 30 you have broken several bones, have some serious scars and are as dumb as a gold fish and you will look like you are 60 years older than you are. Einstein was right when he said we entering the "dumb age".
I was thinking society is moving forward in life... I am so disappointed to see we actually moving backwards. Instead of educating and gaining knowledge, people choose to withdraw from intelligence and go to "primal instinct". What is next? Adding weapons to the game, then we almost 2000 years back primal, like the Roman gladiators.
Truth Revealed No, it's not, it's an ancient, glorious tradition dating back to 1400. Football hooligans don't take part in it, doctors and lawyers do. Also professional soccer players, rugby players, boxers and mma fighters take part in it. And no, at 30 you'll be fine and you're gonna look like an athlete, in fine shape and surely better than your ugly fat ass. There are plenty of calcianti who are in their late 40s, in their late 50s and even in their 60s who still play and are mentally and physically not only fine, but in much better shape than people their own age, certainly in better shape than you, flabby butt. Change your nick into "Troll Revealed"; it's much more fitting. "Moron Revealed" would do fine as well. Yes, Einstein was right, you being a prime example.
more entertaining than anything in America, n doesn't make a mockery of the word sport. top that off with the sportsmanship n you've got something interesting.
look up a sport called 'the wall game'. Field is so muddy that that the jerseys get to where you can't tell the teams. Only 3 goals scored in over 150 years of games.
Fucking love this sport.

Truth Revealed But matches are only done a few times a year so you could probably recover completely before the next match every time
Did Mike Tyson completely recover even though he doesn't compete at all anymore?
