I know it sounds weird, and I know Martin was an F1 driver, but I never think of him as being someone who could still drive a road car faster than probably 99% of people on this planet. This video (and Kimis comments) are a good reminder that he's still got it.
Brundle won the Daytona 24 hour, and in 1990 he won Le Mans. He was far more successful in sports cars than in F1. This sort of car is perfect for his skills.
I could listen to Martin talk all day. Sadly Kimi I could only listen for 5 minutes, providing he's in a talkative mood 'cos that's about all I'd get. Two F1 legends.
We are all going to miss Kimi and his no nonsense approach to F1… brilliant driver who never needed to talk himself up, just let his driving do the talking 👍
Everyone talking about how calm he is while driving....I like how calm he is as a passenger. It's easy to be calm when ur the one in control. Anxiety falls on those who aren't 😂
Brundle looked worried as a passenger with Räikkönen driving the 488 at the edge. The blush and tense look disappeared when they switched. So the worried "not being in control" feeling does not go away after decades of motor sports.
Its' not too hard when you do it a few times. I drive on the road using right foot, but in the sim I use left foot or right depending if H pattern box with clutch or not. Mostly on the sim I use left foot as drive more cars without a clutch on there.
@@ian260672 Same. Back when I started doing my driver's license, I instinctively started with left-foot braking because that's what I'd learned in sim rallying. Needless to say, the instructor put an end to that pretty quickly. I asked him why can't I use my right foot for braking when I need to use the clutch too, and use left-foot braking otherwise. He was a little confused by the question, but eventually said "Look, you won't pass the test like that, and part of my job is to make sure you pass the test. Once that's over with, you can do it however you like as long as it's safe."
I think Martin probably commented on the lack of left foot braking because Martin could no longer left foot brake after his crash in 1984. I bet that still sticks with him.
Agreed, it's amazing how many world champions and world class drivers Finland has produced. Hakkinen, Makinen, Kankkunen, Vatanen, Hirvonen, Toivonen, Rovanpera, Mikkola, Gronholm, Alén, Latvala, Rosberg, Kovaleinen, Salo, Lehto, Bottas plus many more that I probably missed. I really like this video with Martin Brundle in the Ferrari 488 and Kimi driving around the race track in Fiorano in Italy it good as Kimi is not going to be in F1 in the 2022.
Martin Brundle the ultimate F1 commentator who somehow manages without an over-excited shrieking voice or the need to wear pretty-boy tight white jeans & a pair of shades clipped into his belt.
I always love how racing drivers always look terrified when they are the passengers of someone else driving fast. But I get it because they are not in control.
I'm honestly not sure who I'd rather get a ride with, Kimi or Martin (probably Martin if I'm honest) - and what an honor it would be to get to drive THEM around for a lap.
Shame they didn't have more cameras around the track as it would have been fun to slot in some external shots whilst at speed (doughnuts don't count). Must have been a small budget.
Kimi for me at his time the BEST F1 driver. He have not always luck in his F1 time with the cars otherwise he would be more than one time world champion for ferrari. But anyhow i´m a fan from kimi. Such drivers the F1 scene needed more.
