Two cables coming off the mount is great.... but one is even better! I've managed to get my system down to just a power cable. Hint, I've got a RigRunner and powered USB hub for sale.

How do you power the usb hub off of a 12 volt battery in the field? I see that it is 12v 3amps. Thanks. An AC adapter just wont do...lol I guess that cable needs to be made as well. Good stuff!!

Sean did this video for me, buuuuuut. . . The best way to power from a 12V DC is to go DC to DC. I do this for my Laptop too...I take a 12V Input DC to 19VDC output to power my laptop. If you look at your USB hub, I'm sure there's a AC to DC converter. Look at the power supply on the USB Hub and read the output voltage/amps. Next find a 12VDC to your DC Voltage converter. It's much more efficient power wise to go from DC to DC. I used to go DC to AC to DC . . . not recommended. I hope this answers your question.

fuses should be sized to protect the wire not the device.
Yes, there's some truth to that Adrian. But wires are often cheaper than the device. If the wire is too thin then you could argue a fire would destroy the wire and the device! Let's say a fuse is a good place to start . . . to protect the wire and your device! Thanks for commenting! Doug
Wheres the cable management part???
I thought Sean explained it well. The cable management part is taking many different USB and Power cables and consolidating them to two wires. By reducing the cable lengths and making hubs for USB and Power you manage to reduce the number of wires dangling from the mount.
Must have missed that part.
