I saw this on Broadway in 1970 when I was a teenager and it was amazing. While Miss Hepburn was not a singer, she carried the show and the songs through the force and power of her personality and you truly believed.
That’s what I get from just watching the old videos. It’s a shame that Bette Davis wasn’t able to do it with her two musicals. I only recently discovered Coco and the two musicals Lauren Bacall did. the women of the year and applause. to me this is a treat!
If you all understood theatre, I think you'd be speaking differently. Look up Lauren Bacall's "Welcome to the Theatre" or Gertrude Lawrence in the original "THe King and I" It's different then film or recordings.... Respect the legends.
