You can't deny that The Boyz is the most creative in using the stage. They were everywhere. Not just in the stage. They climbed stairs, trapped in a box.. and they were the only group that performed in the area where the other groups sat. I think that's refreshing.

What i got from The Boyz stages, who the “Mains” are Juyeon: center for at least one chorus, starts off and end the songs most of the time, part time stuntman Sunwoo: full time stuntman, has the most “dangerous” parts Young Hoon: serves his role as the main character for all of their stages, the climax is usually given to him Q: like Juyeon, gets at least 1 center for the stage and even gets solos, suiting the role of main dance perfectly Hyunjae: Also plays the role of the visual and gets an important part in their songs
Juyeon, Younghoon and Hyunjae are part of the Bermuda triangle too so they get a lot of centre time even outside of this show. On top of that Juyeon and Q are both main dancers so they both lead the dances.

details in this performance: 0:14 - they incorporate all their past performances in reverse order: the watch from danger, the tree from quasi una fantasia, the crown/fire from catching fire 0:42 - the backup dancers look like freeze frames of q during his slide 1:03 - sunwoo has the sword from their intro performance. he falls wearing the crown like how you knock over the king after checkmate, right before he reaches the throne (referencing how they lost first place?). you can see a sun (or moon?) in the bg. he gets resurrected showing that they haven't given up yet 1:20 - the backup dancers all freeze together. juyeon hyunjae younghoon take turns becoming unfrozen when it's their line (just like how chess pieces stay still until it's their turn to move?) 1:39 - the chess board table he's standing on has actually been flipped upside down from what it was originally (not sure why) 2:20 - hyunjae does a flicking motion like how you topple the king during checkmate 2:23 - sunwoo is commanding the backup dancers like they're pawns on a chessboard (and you see chess pieces on the screen) 2:40 - they're wearing opposite colors and sword fighting like the opposite teams in chess 2:51 - chanhee falling backwards (again like knocking over a chess piece) 3:35 - kevin and chanhee place two king pieces on the board to mirror juyeon and hyunjae. the board changes into a box and then we see juyeon and hyunjae fight in the box (THIS WAS SO COOL??) 4:36 - basically i think they gave up on fighting and decided to win together cause he passes the king piece to juyeon. we get the final message on the screen with a full moon that ends the storyline they've been building with every performance! in danger they said "in the moonlight the crown will be stolen" as if they knew they would lose first place and have to take it back in the finale. ~ anyways their win was so well deserved like i really do think they had the best performance in every round (in terms of choreo, concept, story, visuals, and music).

Wait a damn minute in the intro they yoonghoon basically is rewinding time and is going from shangri la to reveal to danger and to sword of the victpry and the visuals on the screen behind Q look like the hallway in their danger perf except that it also looks like a wormhole which i think allows time travel and if you pay attention to the chess game it seems like the bg dancers and other members are frozen in time when the other is going their turn in the game to show that they literally be so fast and emphasize on the coughting you off gaurd motif. The boyz always find a way to surprise me just when im like ok it is not possible to get more surprises like really wtf im worried for my heart and mind and sleep bc of this grp. Stan THE BOYZ y’all
The background went from the tree in Quasi una fantasia to the burning background in Reveal, then hallway in danger. Then Sunwoo takes the sword like in Sword of Victory. The detail is insane.

If you’re wondering why the boyz aren’t having a comeback or releasing an MV for checkmate here is why. The boyz took months to prepare for road to kingdom and after it was done their company sent them on a vacation. They’re back now but they’re doing photoshoots, cfs, Mc-ing and acting so some members are busy but now I think they’re starting their practices for kingdom. They’re a perfectionist group and they push themselves to do better than the last time so expect out of this world performances from them. TheB and new fans please be understanding of why they aren’t releasing stuff like other groups because they have another competition waiting for them.
I think this is much better for them because they are still active on their sns, doing some cf and also post a lot of photos.And not to forget vlive. They need to take a lot of rest for the upcoming competition.
No official word on them practicing for Kingdom. How are they supposed to prepare for something they have no news of? Lol. There might be changes to the format of Kingdom for all we know. Do NOT spread misinformation on things you have no knowledge of.
Honestly bless Cre.ker for never failing to give the boyz time off. I love that they get real vacations after doing well at their promotions and activities, it's good resting and healing for them and they also film fun videos on vacation for us sometimes

I mean they fed our bois well, let them have proper rest and supported them in their individual projects...i don't see how are they a terrible company. Furthermore, no management companies are perfect so credit should be given where credit is due to Cre.ker for taking care of our 11 bois.
people are saying the boyz won bc of popularity bc they dont know what tbz has gone through. only deobis know that many injuries occurred, that hyunjae and sunwoo are afraid of heights, etc. so it makes sense to think that they might have not worked as hard as other groups, when for example, hui was not getting an sleep or rest and it was actually aired on the show so people know. but for all u haters out there: all 7 groups worked equally hard and they all deserved to win. there are many reasons why the boyz won but there are also many reasons why the other groups are great too. so lets respect everyone bc they all worked their butts off for this
He said he's still scared and uncertain whenever he goes up or does a stunt, & that it was only natural/making sense for him be the stuntman for the next performance, since they are continuing storyline :-)
watching & listening to checkmate really hits differently now because of the ending lyrics: "winner takes it all, i've told you" -> the boyz got 96k out of 100k points, basically winning every categories and then, "and the game that starts once again" -> the boyz advances to kingdom, so the competition is just restarting all over again for them the boyz world domination it is
the fact that KIM SUNWOO who make the rap n participated in the composition of the song , And he made many dangerous movements despite being the most cowardly member , All of THE BOYZ members have worked hard and faced their fears and weaknesses to appear in best shape , even when Kevin was injured he performed , THEBOYZ have endured a lot of pain in the last three months I am full of respect and pride towards them I thank the Lord because I THEB and I was not a person sleeping on them
Unpopular Opinion: Younghoon's opening holding the TIMER suggest that the timeline is written in reverse chronology. It started in a new found SHANGRI-LA where everyone went together. However this peace didn't last long as a foreign ruler starts to take the paradise turned kingdom from them. They decided to come together to reclaim what is rightfully theirs and REVEAL Juyeon as their king. However as the story unravel a traitor suddenly posed a DANGER in stealing the crown. It was foreseen by Sunwoo in his dream and went to expose the betrayal and he resolute that 'Everything is gonna change in the night'. During this time the betrayal is no longer a secret and that the kingdom is indeed divided in two, the black and white. Sunwoo was successful in identifying who's who at the right time and by that all of the traitors disposition was revealed. This becomes a reversal move and by that the black makes their chase. Hyunjae was exposed as the leader of the traitors and was cornered by Juyeon with the help of neutral Sangyeon and when New was outplayed by Kevin. As Hyunjae admits his lost and can't turn back anymore. With his trembling hand he stated that 'The game will start once again' hinting that it is not yet over. Be reminded of Younghoon who's still part of the three man game. EDIT: Let's support The Boyz all the way to Kingdom 💕

체크메이트만 봐도 이야기가 흐름이 완벽하고 왕좌를 차지하겠다는 그런 내용인데, 거기에다 그동안 해왔던 무대들의 세계관과 서사가 모두 빠짐없이 연결되고 끊김없이 완벽하단 게 너무 놀라움 어떻게 이런 무대들 작품들을 만들어내는 거지? 진짜 입을 못 다물겠음.. 그러니까 그냥..더보이즈가 최고란 말이 너무 하고 싶어서 하는 말
I'm relatively new to kpop and I came from a theatre and film background, and what drew me to The Boyz's performances is their storytelling ability. Not only do they incorporate a storyline to their performances, but they also understand the basic rules of storytelling: exposition, conflict, climax and conclusion. Their song arrangements, choreography and production design are all built around their narratives and they also used recurring motifs to tie all their stages together. The RtK stage is unique and immersive, and they were the first group to realize the importance of cinematography in this stage setup, integrating both the theatrical and cinematic aspect of storytelling into their stages. So it's unfair to say that they won just because they were popular or relied heavily on props or whatever, they won because they created art.
True deobis know Haknyeon can pull high notes!! Even sangyeon admitted Haknyeon has a powerful vocal. Sunwoo joining the lead vocalist line. Jacob promoted to main vocalist by doing an impressive high notes.
*Things I noticed:* • Mnet misspelling The Boyz • Danger outfit -> Shangri-la bg and catching fire; Catching Fire outfit -> Danger bg; Changmin's outfit probs Shangri-la -> portal or for aesthetics only?? Overall understanding, their clothes are chronological to their prev perf but the bg isn't? Younghoon turning back time? • Sunwoo's fall: the crown was on his head and instead of sitting on that shadow throne, he falls. Then, he woke up, looking distressed, it's like he doesn't know where he is? Traveled to past, or to the future----- or maybe from that circle light thing. • Q's dance in the first part is similar to the dance in Danger. • Chessboard scene: they only move when they sing. Later on, the same table became circle (they flipped the table, remove the pieces at a short time) • another chess scene understanding: Juyeon was the first to sing so initially, he moves first but before putting down his chess piece (which is black) hyunjae started singing causing juyeon to stop midway. Hyunjae put his chess piece down first (white). In chess, whites always go first, that's probably why juyeon was stopped midway by hyunjae because white goes first, But when, Younghoon sang he didn't move any of his pieces. • Sunwoo controlling the dancers • eric and jacob, sangyeon and q white vs. black. The full use of the set can be seen here. They really know how to take advantage of things. • the small box where the 3 main vocals put the white and black king, later on, trapping the 2. They probs did the same to the big box, trapping the 2 kings of color (Hyunjae and Juyeon) until someone wins (???) But you know, you can't win if your only chess piece is King ???? It's classified as a draw? Idk. • in results, the black king probs win, because when Juyeon threw the chess piece, and it landed on the board, the chess piece has the crown and the piece is the black king? • another depiction of ^, my eyes maybe playing games but the chess piece hyunjae gives juyeon is a silver or gray king (which you all know, gray is the mixture of black and white, and symbolizes Younhoon since it the 3-man chess, he uses the silver pieces, and he did not move any of his chess pieces, meaning his plan hasn't started yet) but since there should only be ONE king, the black king is the king (which is Juyeon). *Final Conclusion/Theory based on the things I noticed:* There are 3 kingdoms or kings or heirs, White, Black, Silver. White and Black fought first. They were too blinded by their fights that they forgot that there is another opponent (since it's three-man chess). Juyeon at the end won, and (if my eyes were not playing games) Hyunjae seems to hint about the forgotten third-player when he gives Juyeon the silver piece, BUT Juyeon ignored this because he is blinded by his own victory. Sunwoo was the reason for this fight. He thought that Hyunjae will be the reason for the Kingdom's end, BUT maybe it was Younghoon all along. Black and White are now at peace, BUT maybe White and Silver will form an alliance against Black if ever they'll continue this storyline at Kingdom which I hope they will. • the song is amazing, the performance is amazing, gonna come back because it's worth watching all over again. • THE BOYZ FIGHTING!!! THE BOYZ WORLD DOMINATION! P.S: My brain cells are now dead due to The Boyz.

Juyeon: center for at least one chorus, starts off and end the songs most of the time, part time stuntman
Sunwoo: full time stuntman, has the most “dangerous” parts
Young Hoon: serves his role as the main character for all of their stages, the climax is usually given to him
Q: like Juyeon, gets at least 1 center for the stage and even gets solos, suiting the role of main dance perfectly
Hyunjae: Also plays the role of the visual and gets an important part in their songs
i laughed so hard at part time and full time stuntmen line. BUT YOU AIN'T WRONG, juyeon and sunwoo hardcarrying the stunts 👌

Juyeon, Younghoon and Hyunjae are part of the Bermuda triangle too so they get a lot of centre time even outside of this show. On top of that Juyeon and Q are both main dancers so they both lead the dances.

1:03 - sunwoo has the sword from their intro performance. he falls wearing the crown like how you knock over the king after checkmate, right before he reaches the throne (referencing how they lost first place?). you can see a sun (or moon?) in the bg. he gets resurrected showing that they haven't given up yet
1:20 - the backup dancers all freeze together. juyeon hyunjae younghoon take turns becoming unfrozen when it's their line (just like how chess pieces stay still until it's their turn to move?)
1:39 - the chess board table he's standing on has actually been flipped upside down from what it was originally (not sure why)
2:20 - hyunjae does a flicking motion like how you topple the king during checkmate
2:23 - sunwoo is commanding the backup dancers like they're pawns on a chessboard (and you see chess pieces on the screen)

4:36 - basically i think they gave up on fighting and decided to win together cause he passes the king piece to juyeon. we get the final message on the screen with a full moon that ends the storyline they've been building with every performance! in danger they said "in the moonlight the crown will be stolen" as if they knew they would lose first place and have to take it back in the finale.

If you’re wondering why the boyz aren’t having a comeback or releasing an MV for checkmate here is why. The boyz took months to prepare for road to kingdom and after it was done their company sent them on a vacation. They’re back now but they’re doing photoshoots, cfs, Mc-ing and acting so some members are busy but now I think they’re starting their practices for kingdom. They’re a perfectionist group and they push themselves to do better than the last time so expect out of this world performances from them. TheB and new fans please be understanding of why they aren’t releasing stuff like other groups because they have another competition waiting for them.
I think this is much better for them because they are still active on their sns, doing some cf and also post a lot of photos.And not to forget vlive.
They need to take a lot of rest for the upcoming competition.

Unpopular Opinion:
Younghoon's opening holding the TIMER suggest that the timeline is written in reverse chronology. It started in a new found SHANGRI-LA where everyone went together. However this peace didn't last long as a foreign ruler starts to take the paradise turned kingdom from them. They decided to come together to reclaim what is rightfully theirs and REVEAL Juyeon as their king.
However as the story unravel a traitor suddenly posed a DANGER in stealing the crown. It was foreseen by Sunwoo in his dream and went to expose the betrayal and he resolute that 'Everything is gonna change in the night'. During this time the betrayal is no longer a secret and that the kingdom is indeed divided in two, the black and white.
Sunwoo was successful in identifying who's who at the right time and by that all of the traitors disposition was revealed. This becomes a reversal move and by that the black makes their chase.
Hyunjae was exposed as the leader of the traitors and was cornered by Juyeon with the help of neutral Sangyeon and when New was outplayed by Kevin.
As Hyunjae admits his lost and can't turn back anymore. With his trembling hand he stated that 'The game will start once again' hinting that it is not yet over. Be reminded of Younghoon who's still part of the three man game.

I'm relatively new to kpop and I came from a theatre and film background, and what drew me to The Boyz's performances is their storytelling ability. Not only do they incorporate a storyline to their performances, but they also understand the basic rules of storytelling: exposition, conflict, climax and conclusion. Their song arrangements, choreography and production design are all built around their narratives and they also used recurring motifs to tie all their stages together. The RtK stage is unique and immersive, and they were the first group to realize the importance of cinematography in this stage setup, integrating both the theatrical and cinematic aspect of storytelling into their stages. So it's unfair to say that they won just because they were popular or relied heavily on props or whatever, they won because they created art.

처음으로 본방으로 무대보면서 투표도 해봤는데 얘네는 진짜 레전드다 진짜 크게 될거다 무대가 성장하면 할수록 부담감과 아이디어 고갈로 더 멋진 무대를 만들기 어려울텐데 정체기 없이 계속 성장하네 ㄹㅇ.... 보면서 진짜 소름돋았다
*Things I noticed:*
• Mnet misspelling The Boyz
• Danger outfit -> Shangri-la bg and catching fire; Catching Fire outfit -> Danger bg; Changmin's outfit probs Shangri-la -> portal or for aesthetics only?? Overall understanding, their clothes are chronological to their prev perf but the bg isn't? Younghoon turning back time?
• Sunwoo's fall: the crown was on his head and instead of sitting on that shadow throne, he falls. Then, he woke up, looking distressed, it's like he doesn't know where he is? Traveled to past, or to the future----- or maybe from that circle light thing.
• Q's dance in the first part is similar to the dance in Danger.
• Chessboard scene: they only move when they sing. Later on, the same table became circle (they flipped the table, remove the pieces at a short time)
• another chess scene understanding: Juyeon was the first to sing so initially, he moves first but before putting down his chess piece (which is black) hyunjae started singing causing juyeon to stop midway. Hyunjae put his chess piece down first (white). In chess, whites always go first, that's probably why juyeon was stopped midway by hyunjae because white goes first, But when, Younghoon sang he didn't move any of his pieces.
• Sunwoo controlling the dancers
• eric and jacob, sangyeon and q white vs. black. The full use of the set can be seen here. They really know how to take advantage of things.
• the small box where the 3 main vocals put the white and black king, later on, trapping the 2. They probs did the same to the big box, trapping the 2 kings of color (Hyunjae and Juyeon) until someone wins (???) But you know, you can't win if your only chess piece is King ???? It's classified as a draw? Idk.
• in results, the black king probs win, because when Juyeon threw the chess piece, and it landed on the board, the chess piece has the crown and the piece is the black king?
• another depiction of ^, my eyes maybe playing games but the chess piece hyunjae gives juyeon is a silver or gray king (which you all know, gray is the mixture of black and white, and symbolizes Younhoon since it the 3-man chess, he uses the silver pieces, and he did not move any of his chess pieces, meaning his plan hasn't started yet) but since there should only be ONE king, the black king is the king (which is Juyeon).
*Final Conclusion/Theory based on the things I noticed:*
There are 3 kingdoms or kings or heirs, White, Black, Silver. White and Black fought first. They were too blinded by their fights that they forgot that there is another opponent (since it's three-man chess). Juyeon at the end won, and (if my eyes were not playing games) Hyunjae seems to hint about the forgotten third-player when he gives Juyeon the silver piece, BUT Juyeon ignored this because he is blinded by his own victory. Sunwoo was the reason for this fight. He thought that Hyunjae will be the reason for the Kingdom's end, BUT maybe it was Younghoon all along. Black and White are now at peace, BUT maybe White and Silver will form an alliance against Black if ever they'll continue this storyline at Kingdom which I hope they will.
• the song is amazing, the performance is amazing, gonna come back because it's worth watching all over again.
• THE BOYZ FIGHTING!!! THE BOYZ WORLD DOMINATION!
P.S: My brain cells are now dead due to The Boyz.
