- A chronological compilation of Siskel & Ebert (and others later) reviewing the joints of Spike Lee
From She's Gotta Have It (1986) to She Hate Me (2004)
I still couldn't find Clockers (1995) or Bamboozled (2000), but I've added 20 minutes of content from the previous upload of this episode (I had no idea how much I missed!)
If you watched the first upload and just want to see what I've added, here are the timestamps:
34:08
56:29
58:00
1:04:57
1:13:54
Primarily for educational purposes, but enjoy however you see fit!

Bamboozled is still on my list, I recommend for anyone who needs to see how white media conditions everything
Whoa! WTF. That opening, following the Do The Right Thing clip, took me by surprise! Hearing Siskel and Ebert do a religion rant, replete with F bombs...Well, it kind of blew my mind. Thoroughly enjoyed it, though. I'm guessing Mr. Lee would get a kick out of it, too. Ty for the vid. 👍
I'm tripping off how these two REPUTABLE JOURNALISTS opened the door for all of these weird podcast bro safespaces for insecure males we have now
@@youknowwhoyouare2269maybe the worst take in the history of takes. Imagine being so obsessed with soy boys that that is what you take away from the comment you replied to. smh
Naw, it's a skit, not a rant.
It's all a bit.
(I did notice they didn't go full 'Do the Right Thing' and do it straight down the camera barrel at us - that'd be too much)
@@youknowwhoyouare2269Those were outtakes from a promo for the show.
The intros for this series on this YT channel have been brilliant.
After Siskel and Ebert's rant, should have had Sam's character screaming "Time out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Great to see these two riffing 'Doing The Right Thing' - in a way that was TRULY untelevisable! 🤣
- Never seen these two gents dropping F bombs like they're down the bar (as they were both known to do in their youth)
Sooooooo good. That behind the scenes stuff. Sooooo good.
Do The Right Thing is one of the best films of the 1980's.
His best movie is Summer of Sam, you need to check yourself
That interview at the end is everything! My favorite is “He Got Game” but I enjoy most of his films. No director,(outside of Kubrick), bats 1,000 the point is to take risks.
His best movie is Summer of Sam, I don't know what you were talking about, but you need to check yourself
@@JoeBlow-jm1bz That's my favorite, too even though it got mixed reviews.
Clockers is a pretty good movie I liked it
Just finished and thought the video was very entertaining. I'm racking my brain for directors that made movies throughout the 80s and 90s that will also have Siskel, Ebert, etc review footage. Paul Thomas Anderson would probably work and be super interesting. I'm sure a Clint Eastwood compilation might show up in the future? Oh man, a John Waters would be awesome too, if there's enough reviews out there. Ohhh, Todd Solondz? Kathryn Bigalow? Anyways, I dig the channel 👍
I'd like to see one on Ken Russell 👍
There was also a special thing on Mo' Better Blues several shows later.
AO Scott & Michael Phillips Reviews The King Of Comedy!
I have a problem enjoying Mo Better Blues myself,
at least in relation to all the other Lee movies on either side of it (Do the Right Thing / Malcolm X / Crooklyn etc)
Spike's catalog overall is a generous C-
I haven't seen much of it, but he does seem kind of wont to make a movie that just says f you to people, over and over again.
Yo u iz raysiss
@@gzuskreist1021 Haha, "You must like all approved propaganda."
His career has been uneven but he's still a great director
@@ricardocantoral7672 I guess Do the Right Thing reveals something, even if he's not known to be great, otherwise.
