Today, we set off to explore the famous Cheedale stepping stones, a hidden waterfall, and the Magpie Mines.
Walking along the Monsal Trail of the Derbyshire Dales was meant to be fairly straightforward, but alas, as we know, Lilu's adventures always take a tricky yet usually humorous turn!

My dad and his friends mapped Magpie Mine in the 60's. A great place to visit at dawn or dusk. Wolfscote Dale to Dove Dale is nice, especially when the orchids are out. Go from Biggin and it's around 10km if you also go up Biggin Dale. There's longer options. All dales are getting busy, however, there are always paths to take that are quiet.

The expanse of foot troddon mud shown by the drone says it all. Very popular, very muddy.
I love smaller scale rural industry too, particularly engineered watercourses, which are sometimes the only remaining sign that something was there.
