@@kolbywilliams7234 any mage can do that, but only a well trained mage has 4 elements or more and knows the exact weakness of each monster. OG Dragons Dogma fan here.
Player height, weight, and shape effects things like sprinting speed, max stamina, carry capacity, and attack range.
    Maybe base stats too.
The first game punished short ppl by placing a hidden item on top of a tall shelf. Even if you’re short and you could see the item, you couldn’t reach it.
    Main Pawns are like babies.
You have to teach them the best way to support you. They will play the same way with other online players.
    Bad teacher = bad pawn.
Personally, my pawns runs head first into battles like me. And we never die.
However, she tends to die for newer players who can’t hold their own as well as I.
Also she just learned how to climb monsters, search for their weak spots, or pin them down🥲
The game is meant to be completed multiple times.
As it’s the only way to understand the complete story without spoilers.
Every play through should be different.
Quest lines can require special conditions.
They can also be loss due to other quest lines.
And may open/close other quest lines.

They have to be familiar with the quest. I personally don't like this because it's also to ok their suggestions. If they say they know the location of a chest nearby, for instance, and they offer to guide you to it, you hit go, to ok it, and all of a sudden, a completely different pawn is now trying to guide you on your quest and you never quite get guided to that chest. Might work if you unselect all quests, but that's just annoying.

Assuming it hasn't changed from the original, the character creation also meaningfully impacts your gameplay. If you are different sizes/heights you get different amounts of carrying capacity/stamina, if you are super short you can fit down inaccessible passages for medium+ height characters, and in the original game there were entire factions that would be hostile/friendly towards you based on your race/gender. Also classes aren't just for skills, when you have a class chosen and level up with it, you get different permanent base stats than if you level up as a different class. That was the reason a common start in DD1 was the archer class for the first 20-40 levels because it got you a nice base amount of stamina regardless of whether you were planning to play archer or a physical class at all in the mid/endgame. I didn't get into Dragon's Dogma till years after its launch, but I really respect the depth and replayability of its systems. There are tons of other examples, like how your pawn's personality impacts their gameplay so there are "meta" personalities and whatnot. Gotta love how 100% of this is basically not told to you whatsoever though.

Your size and weight also effected your character in the first game just in a less drastic way, for example if you made your character really small you could crawl through the goblin tunnels and I think if effected how easy it was to be knocked over but in a much less noticeable way now it looks like these decisions will effect your gameplay in a much more realistic way.

    Alright a few tips
    From a dogma god.
You can train your pawns by using the same class as your pawns they will mimic you later depending on the monsters you fight.
Status effects are king so here how it works.
Oil increases fire damage, water increases lighting damage. Enemies with harder outer shells take more lighting damage, enemies with softer outer shells take more fire damage, holy and fire for the undead, lighting and impact for dragons and golems.
The strongest abilitys all arisens should have is knockdown and increased status damage, and stamina. Saurians are weak to ice. Magic archer has a regen ability get it as soon as possible. And one last thing weight affect stamina consumption you want to be light as possible in order to avoid getting tired and finally never ever travel at noght without a lantern or oil for the lantern.

    • @A1lilbiih
      @A1lilbiih 6 месяцев назад +5

      A few more
So some skills have added knockdown right. So when fighting a dragon and the dragon is hovering with the tail dangling if you use the high knockdown skill on the tail you can drop the dragon out the air.
Cyclops are weak to blunt damage
Petrify is really powerful it is great to use against garms wolves and small animals.
Now some warrior tips( My favorite class).
So the best way to play warrior is to not use the charge skills,Why? Because warriors main weakness is slow swing speed and single high damage hits. So to get the most of warrior you want to use insta cast skills and augments that increase regular swings. So a few I use are the one that increases jump attack because warrior jumping heavy is completely broken damage wis when augmented, another is increased knockdown. And the best is the skill with the I frames, that skill is essential giving the warrior a dodge button.
Ranger can equip different arrows they can trivialize the game. Use blast arrow with the rapid fire skill to melt enemies.
      Pawns
Check it out always give your main pawn a lantern, because main pawns get infinite oil so will always have a light source. If you keep hiring the same pawns they can gain an affinity towards those pawns. This is great because pawns will start to synergies and work together more affective. Some of the best combos are fighter pawn and thief, twin sorc, ranger and mage.
      Fighter pawn
To me this is the strongest pawn in game, why? Perfect block. Be warned using this pawn combo will make all others seem not needed as much. My main pawn I give Perfect block augment, stamina consumption augment, and all rapid fire skills. Avoid the shield skill ,why because you want the pawn to Perfect block instead of using shield skills and save stamina for offensive skills. Gg arisens!

Ah yes, the game that hates you.
I remember walking towards a mission when this random NPC just runs to me for an escort quest. Since I had previously done 2 and the quest markers were relatively near the NPCs I said 'fuck it! Let's go.' The quest end point was on the OTHER side of the map. I debated killing the NPC but decided let's complete the quest. Off I went naively to escort an NPC, his name, I discovered, was Robert. I met, I think it may have been the Headless Horseman but I am not sure, all I know is: I was walking minding my own business when I see this weird fog which creeped me and then BAM! This headless monster appears, grabs me, slams me on the ground does a chain flury of attacks and kills me. Fine, I use a wakestone my only wakestone. In the time the animation of the wakestone finished the thing killed all three pawns, teleported to me, grabbed me, slamed me and did the flury of attacks killing me again. I didn't land a hit, I couldn't even attack it. I reload, the monster doesn't spawn which was a relief. The quest continued were I was attacked by goblins, slimes, wolves, bandits, an Ogre and a Cyclops. Barely reached the objetive and the moment I turn to leave a random npc runs to me gives me a quest which was just investigate flowers and fight wolves to find a boy, ended up in a fight against a necromancer, mind you the necromancer wasn't part of the quest it spawn while I was investigating the area of the quest.
My experience so far has been: 10/10 the game hates you and it wants you to know it.

Sometimes so much random shit happens that it’s just hilarious. When I first got to the mountain where the Sphinx is chilling I needed to escort the NPC and we alles up the mountain and I heard something fighting and down by the big plateau you could watch as a Cyclops and a Lesser Dragon were battling each other while some random npc attacked both. I just watched it happen. The battle was kind of epic but the dragon won easily and just stayed there.
Other times you’re just walking around on your way to sie thing and your here out of no where „ Fight me Arisen“ and a random as dragon fire breathes you ass.

@@Manie230 I both love and hate the game.
I remember this one random Minotaur attack. I was walking around Bhathal and nothing had jumped me yet, which is weird because you can't go more than a few steps into that area of the map without something jumping at you, anyways I was just walking wondering aloud why nothing had attacked me which was a nice change of pace when this random ass Minotaur just jumps out of nowhere, wacks me and my character is just laying there while my pawns fight the monster, eventually I got up and fought but it just came out of nowhere.
Or that one other time also in Bhathal with an Ogre. I had just finished fighting a Cyclops (I remember cause my pawn got its first badge), am on my way to the Oracle when an Ogre grabs me yeets me all the way to a cave entrance, a cave I didn't even know was there, and twelve venemous lizzards came out and started beating the shit out of my Arisen alongside the Ogre. Somehow I survived though I spent most of the fight reviving my pawns, that kept dying to either the Ogre or the lizzards.
I love the game for the randomness but I also hate it when it keeps staggering me and doesn't let me breathe without trying to gut me. Can't help but laugh at the two instances though. In one I tempted destiny in the other I was just minding my own bussiness.

My two other pawns were stuck at some corner of that cave and just didn’t attack the damn slimes. I do feel sorry for the first timer because Dragon's Dogma should be renamed to "Bad choices I made in Life" The game. Every bad decisions you make, either intentional or nonintentional, the game will make sure to punish or haunt you for the rest of the game. For example in the video, having two mages as your pawn or any redundant classes in your party will result in something like being eaten alive by pack of wolves. For another example, bad management in questing will either you will fail, miss, or give you bad endings that could lock you out of a content in-game in the future. The game is truly difficult in different ways than other videogames I have experienced.

Pawn 1: Master, there's a statue over there! Pawn 2: Ooh! Maybe it will have treasure. Pawn 3: I don't know how to get there from here. The Pawns have a big discussion about that. Meanwhile, you are frantically running around and looking high and low to see this statue, which you never find.
They do the same with treasure chests that you have already looted. And ladders. When you finally find the ladder and go up onto the narrow ledge, they all crowd around. You try to move, and get bumped off to your death.

    "Doesn't tell you the weaknesses"
That's the mechanic. You are supposed to find the weakness yourself, and then you AND your pawn (Pawn automatically gains knowledge) then take note of the weakness. So when you hire pawns they have a rating for every enemy type, and how much knowledge of that enemy that they learned when traveling with their Arisen master. The problem you encountered is that the pawns you have are mostly just NPCs generated by the game. So they won't have "all" the knowledge. The "player" pawns will be the one with all the knowledge as the game goes on.

Quests are memory driven. It provides the location in a mystery yellow fart cloud on the map and you review the quest information fun and entertaining just like "Where is Waldo" and you actually walk into and around places to locate and identify your target, that's insanely cool. The lock on is all through haptic directional movement. The game want you to hit the GRAB function and climb big ass NPC enemies, hang on tight and slash stabbing tf out of your enemies. The big random enemy can fly and the Pawn Player reactions or confusion feels very authentic, it's hard to explain how the game does this function way better than many games with similar qualities. Players are essentially interacting and enjoying their playthroughs without ever meeting, it's a better introduction and setup for online gaming because everyone is already assigned a authentication player identification number. Online would destroy all of it's genre and will be the first at so large with some of the best characters and content.

The taller and heavier your character is they get more stamina and carry weight, and its easier to knock down off balance monsters. While of youre shorter and lighter you move faster, regenerate stamina quicker and (at least in the first game) there are tunnels where if you're short enough you can enter.

I almost always disable that feature in most games that have it, but that's a personal playstyle choice and as it should be. I agree that they should have given the players that option though.
Since I'm a very patient player and a completionist, exploration, talking to NPC's and stopping to smell the roses, all come naturally for me. Enemies a bit more spaced out would have been great, but everything else is very entertaining and immersive, well,... other than that Dragonplague. 😂

Then Fivefold Flurry the medal on its back. When that shatters, the Golem topples over, at which point you destroy the medal underneath its left foot. The rest is easy. You could destroy a Golem like that in seconds. The only problem now would be that you're probably not strong enough to pull it off perfectly, and perhaps they changed the Golem's physical response to getting its medals crushed. But I'm going to try out the strategy immediately; see if it still works.

@@Inamaruu Yup, DD1 was basically going for a Berserk type of thematic shift after Grigori's defeat. Suddenly, the world is overrun by more horrible creatures, ash falls from the sky, and doom and gloom permeates the air. Then there's Bitter Black Isle, which is an even more terrifying realm to explore. BBI was claustrophobic, extremely atmospheric, and teeming with unique monsters. But it also had an air of sadness and desperation, and an excellent soundtrack (specifically in the Arisen's Refuge and the first time you enter the Fallen City). I really hope that DD2 manages to capture a similar type of vibe and experience in its post game. I'd be kind of disappointed if it lacks that, because that's what really made me love the first game.

Advice for either anyone actively playing, or thinking about getting this game, from someone who has suffered through many, many hours, and is still discovering new things:
    1. Wolves are so starved that they can be distracted by meat. It doesn’t even have to be fresh, just throw down a bit of rotted meat you’ve been holding onto since the beginning of your adventure the moment you hear howls, and they will all go for it, even while actively taking damage. Now the only challenge you’ll face are the sad puppy-whimpers they release as you kill them mid-bite.
    2. Use the game’s time-based mechanics against it to get enough money to outfit yourself properly (and maybe even afford a house or two, someday). Pick up every damn herb you see, kill every pig/goat/deer/bison for meat, fish in every fishing spot, and harvest every fruit or spud. You will spot this stuff constantly on your journey.
Let the fruits/spuds/meat/fish sit in your inventory for a short while, until it becomes aged (make sure to keep an eye on it, so it doesn’t rot, but even then you can craft some into lantern fuel which can be useful). Then, craft it into roborants.
Each sell for decent gold, and if you find/harvest the right items, you can upgrade them to be worth even more (saurian tails are your best friend).
Even while actively changing classes every time I max one out, I usually have made it up to 100,000 gold by then, before having to spend it on the new classes’ equipment. It may not be enough to get the best armor for that class straight off the bat, but it’s still game changing.
    3. Item storage is your best defence against time. Go to an inn, or to your home if you own one, and chuck everything you want in that damn chest.
Have something you don’t want to rot or dry out, but don’t have the other ingredients to craft it with yet? Throw it in storage, time doesn’t pass in there. It’s the best.
    4. Never let an enemy put you between them and either a cliff face or any body of water. EVER.
My first experience with an Ogre was hitting their weak spot so much with my arrows that they got pissed and decided to ignore my tank and target only me. I still have flying-feet related trauma from that experience. Just, instantly off a cliff. Brine, then death.
Have had it happen so many times since then, most boss enemies have some kind of ‘launch you away/in a certain direction’ ability, and if you’re anywhere near anything remotely dangerous, you’re just f’ed. There is no defence, especially for the classes who have no dodge or block. RIP.
    5. Beware when near edges or cliff faces. Your Pawns will follow you everywhere unless you tell them to stay put, and to put it in the simplest terms, they don’t have as good brakes as the Arisen/player does. They also don’t share your mountain-goating abilities. They will just outright fall. If you’re lucky enough to have them fall on solid ground, you just have to be able to (somehow) reach them in time to revive them, but if they fall in Brine, they’re gone until you next reach a riftstone. Good luck surviving without them til then. Also, every Brine-related dip they take, damages their affection (hidden stat). So that’s fun…
    6. If you notice a Pawn you grabbed from a riftstone being especially nasty to you, like, really out of character-like, maybe replace them. Immediately. No reason 😗
On the other hand, if you notice your Main Pawn doing that or, gods forbid, their eyes starting to glow red…well. I wish you luck, my good friend 😬
Anyhow, that’s all I’ve got so far. Good luck players, I wish you a distinct lack of flying-feet, and hope you enjoy the sweet torture that is Dragon’s Dogma (2).

Biggest rec I can give is have one mage at all times for heals and alright magic. Maybe a sorcerer for big spells, then a fighter. Gives you a well rounded team that can heal, deal damage and tank moderately well and you can do basically anything you want. Also, if you have friends in the game, you can summon their pawns for free, regardless of level.

That's bs you get a bunch of ferrystones from exploring and doing quests, I literally have 2 of the placeable teleport points and at least 15 ferrystones while being early enough in the game to not have made it to the desert area yet.
Just use ox carts, they're really cheap, you will get raided half the time though it's usually just a few goblins.
Btw there's a port crystal in the griffin nest, just grab onto the griffin then do a mix of standing when it's gliding and using stamina consumables while grappling it. Plus the boss fight gets a bit more difficult once you get there but it's fun.(make sure you take a ferrystone with you for after tho)

Only dopes can't grasp that there is nothing in the store, that can't be earned in-game thru normal gameplay. No one NEEDS to buy anything from the store. It's simply there as a convenience for casual players and lazy players with expendable incomes. This entire controversy smacks of jealous gamers who are butthurt that they can't afford to pay for the "easy, instant gratification way", and hate knowing there are those out there with extra cash, who can. Get over it and get playing, earning that shit ingame is waaaay more satisfying than paying for it in the store anyway.

I had no idea where you were going with your review, but I enjoyed watching… thank you so much. I think you not playing the first one made your experience genuine. I played the first one beginning to end at least 7times. It’s one of my favorite games. The core is present in DD2, but there’s so much more. Watching the review all I could think about was mayhem… and I can’t wait.
I did have one question though: can you swim in this one? In DD:DA, if you go too far into deep water, you begin to get attacked by microscopic creatures that suck you under, the you end up on the closest land. It was weird, but I’m sure it was a technical matter.

      1. Should not be as hard as A Souls Game, Lies of P. We have to many games of that type as it is, Not every dev needs to have 1 souls like or Lies of P Like Game. 2. the Story should not be a 100% rip of the first game where we end up in Cassardis and with Quina. It should play out differently.
