yes, I love how each one of us are so different, but we all can join together here as friends. Christian booktube has become such a wonderful community I couldn't imagine my life without
I have almost always found them through recommendations from family and friends. I have also grown up going to local Christian homeschool conventions, and found some that way. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, Micah! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
In all seriousness, my friend, Steve and I are so blessed to know you & we are beyond excited to see where the Lord leads you with this channel and your book! Anything we can do to support you along the way, please let us know!!! We can’t wait to hang out with you again in September! ❤
Loved this video and hearing your answers! And the movie clips👌 were excellent! Please do a video of organizing your bookshelf! Those are so fun to watch! ❤
New subscriber here 😊 I can relate to escapism here. My life has been a bit monotonous as well (and sedentary). So I read. I've loved to read for a long time. I have to be honest. My love for books grew when I had to learn English as a second language. I learned the language by reading books. I'm also a slow reader (on purpose).
@MicahCooley_authenticstory My first language is Spanish. I remember my teacher gave me this book about a wolf, and it was a chapter book. At that time, there was no Google use, so any words that stood out to me, I had to find the definition using a dictionary. To learn to pronounce the word, I had to ask the teacher. I did this for 6 months, and so I learned English in that amount of time.
I was on my favorite Christian book tuber’s channel ( Katie-paperbacks & ponytails ) & you just came up through her recommendation. Welcome! I, too like to deep dive, ponder, read Christian fiction that really moves me or causes me to grow. I look forward to your unique, authentic style 😊
Welcome to Booktube, Micah! Oh, I loved the Boxcar Children, too! I haven't read Hardy Boys in a long time, but I recently led a Nancy Drew read along, yep a bunch of older ladies reading Nancy lol, and then found a great set of Hardy Boys super cheap so I'll be rereading those, too. No worries about slow reading. Just enjoy it!
I fall on the side of hating the Space Trilogy unfortunately lol What's your fave Louis Lamour book? Someone recommended To Tame a Land and I have that one, but which would you recommend? I just want to say, please don't feel pressured to read more or faster to "keep up." It can be refreshing and encouraging to other people who like a slower pace too or feel bad about not reading as much as some booktubers. I like the idea of you reading a passage and discussing it, like you did with the poem. I think that would be cool because I haven't really seen anything like that from anyone else. This was a great video and I liked all the clips lol
I remember you saying that before. It's ok, we're still friends! 😂 I read To Tame a Land and definitely recommend it. There is another I really liked, it may be The Tall Stranger, but I'll have to look back at my collection and get back to you. Thanks! I appreciate the feedback on that!!
The space trilogy! Especially the third book, 'That Hideous Strength', is one of the few books I have read that swept me into its pages. Definitely don't have a problem with it!
I remeber reading Out of the Silent Planet in highschool (homeschooling was my experience as well) I was very intrigued and fascinated. Caused me to think quite a lot. It's been 12 years and I haven't completed the trilogy! Thanks for the reminder 👍
Welcome to BookTube officially. Not sure if you’re aware of it, but there is an “event” type thing around here called “Poetry Thursday”. In which, as the title suggests, we talk poetry on Thursday. I don’t do it every week, but occasionally I’ll throw up a poem. There’s other people who are far more consistent about it. Might be something you enjoy participating in. 🤷🏼♂️ You mentioned how when you read, you look for what you can glean from the writing. That’s something that I have thought about. One of these days I’ll do a video about some common vocabulary, and “literature” will be on that list. I think you’ll find my personal definition of that word very similar what you’re talking about there. Looking forward to seeing more from you. More good Christian BookTubers will never be a bad thing. -T
I didn't know about it, so thanks for telling me! That video sounds really intriguing. I would be interested to see it for sure. I'm happy to be a part of booktube now! Thanks for the warm welcome
Wishing you much success on your channel!! Great job so far. You might enjoy checking out Chantel Reads all day, she just put out a video on "clean, no or limited spice" fantasy reads. Also a deeper thinking channel is In Search of Wonder. She recently had a video on story making. Not sure exact title, but sounds like you'd be interested. Your ideas seem very creative and thought provoking❤. And it's OK to read slow!! My grandson is interested in writing fantasy so I may share with him!!
Thanks for the recommendation! I love watching In Search of Wonder, and will have to check out Chantel. I appreciate the comment and hope to be able to help inspire your grandson!
What are your plans for your writing? I read a little of your first book and liked what i read. Do you plan to write more in the series or make a v2 of the first book now that you're a more mature writer? Scrap that series or can that 1 book be read on its own for a complete story?
I'm currently working on a brand new series. My first book definitely works as a standalone, even though it says trilogy. It has a satisfying wrap-up. Someday I may return to it. I haven't written it off, but am into a separate project right now. Thanks for the inquiry!
