She's selling you a product sweet girl, not helping us learn how our hair behaves and what to do so our hair looks fabulous. The brand she's talking about will change the formula every couple of years, maybe less. Just so they can increase the price and sell you additional, 'new' products. I have been using Deva Curl products for almost 2 years, and had a Deva cut 18 months ago. Your video explained HOW to use the products better than anything I've seen in that time. I also will admit, my scalp has never been better since using No Poo, I love it. Thank you for making this video!!

Thank you so much for this info, I am 56 years old and I struggled with my hair when I was younger, trying to make it straight, but one day I realized how much I love my curly hair, and for a few years I was using the flat iron, I was sick and tired and decided not to do that and try to get my curls back, my hair is thick and very dry as well but I will try this product and this method, and I also decided not to color my grey anymore, as long as my hair looks healthy and beautiful I don't care, can not stop aging so why fight it!

I just got my hair cut to the same length as hers as you can see in my picture but so far I blow dry it straight and use a curling iron because I don't know how to work with the curls this short. I had just figured out how to work with them when they were long but this is a whole other beast.
I like exactly curly hair like yours. My hair is really weird it is very hard to curl and yet i kinky every time I perm my hair ,Please tell me wha sort of lotion I should use and where can I buy them.
Amazing video. I just followed the steps to see if I can tame my winter-dry, frizzy hair. (Waiting for it to air dry now.) I just have 1 question. Do you rinse out the No Poo before you condition? The bottle says to rinse well, but I didn’t see that step in this video.
Tracy My understanding is by having more sebaceous glands they would produce more oil in the hair, but fewer glands would produce less oil. Looking at the back of her head it looks like she might not have been giving that area as much attention that it needs. She also has highlights which can affect moisture retention needed for those curls. Now it seems she has a stylist and products to help maintain her curly style.
@@katiev.5059 Hi Katie! If you have fine oily hair, then I encourage you to find the type of curl pattern you have! There are many types… they go from wavy, to the extremely coiled type of curl. The wavier you are, the oily you are, but on the same token, the curlier you are, the less oily you are. Hope this helps!
Who can actually do this at home?? Making a mess in my bathroom and spending 20-30 minutes before even styling/ twisting seems a bit much for me. Any suggestions for practical application in a non-salon setting?
1. it took an hour and a half for me to have the process 2. obviously a lot of that time is spent TEACHING her and undoing the damage (you wouldn't do the build up buster every time, for example). Because they're showing her each step and talking about it, that's what takes so long
Both of you look wonderful! Kelly C and I have pretty much the same hair pattern. As I’ve gotten older, I just want to wear it curly. Thank you for sharing all these tips! This video will help me to have the full head of curly hair I want!
I’ve never heard that curly haired people have fewer sebaceous glans. I was always taught that the tighter the curl the less likely the oil can travel down the strands to completely coat the strands.
It's in the Curly Girl book my dears! I would do more research since it's an amazing curl journey for all you curly girls out there to venture into! I'm not sure there's a sliding scale of curl type and number of glands lol. but I agree, it definitely is obvious the hair is dryer due to less oil traveling down. Also the curl can mean much longer hair than people think hence hair that's been around a lot longer, and needs care and attention our it will dry out.
Anthony Carenza true, I have curly hair like an orange rod for perming. I straightened my hair fo years and for past 15 years don’t do it anymore. I use mixed chicks. It’s a conditioner leave in. Expensive but keeps my curls intact and not freeze. I’m a hairdresser and buy it from some distributors and sometimes from manufacturer in California. Some salons carry the mixed chicks but they charge retail price. As for Deva Curl I bought all of those products and have used it. I find too much time is spent on using all them different bottles and have become lazy using all that product. Not to mention costly. I’ll tell you shampoos dry out your hair. I wet my hair and use good quality conditioner instead of shampoo than use mixed chicks. This works for me. Keep a water bottle around with some condoned inside and give your curls a squirt when seein hair dry and revives your curls. I even use the cheap dipitty do da gel to bring out curls. Both my daughters have curly hair too and a mad house I live in with these super curly hair!!!
Funny story, I've actually only told some of my clients that they can just get away with only using conditioner in their hair as a styling tool! It works! hehehe
Actually better explained and showed in this video how to do and whay than in may videos I have seen. The cliens hair looks good after the hairdresser made her hair. But why don´t use the black orchid diffuser? My hair gets quite horrible in that kind of diffuser the client sat in.
Candice Moses yes exactly, is the heat that destroys curly hair. But people want both worlds u know ? It’s impossible 😆 you got to stick with only one mate!! Can’t handle 2 . I never blow dry /round brush or flat iron my curly hair ! I embrace it rather .
I have very tight natural curls. My hair is very fragile and breaks off easily. Used this product for 2 months, used the leave in conditioner, 2 times a week i would wash my hair. I never use heat to dry my hair. My hair WAS past my shoulders blades before this product, Now my hair is above my shoulders, my hair broke off.
Love that we've all been inspired to embrace our beautiful curls! Its about time! ❤ I remember when I was in high school I spent all day diffusing my hair into a gorgeous curly style. I could wait for my boyfriend to see it. When he finally saw me he looked disappointed he told me he didn't like big girls he liked them to look "wet and flatter." (This was the 90s) Then he specifically referenced Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Seinfeld and said I don't like her girls don't wear your hair like that. JERK! That was 25 years ago. He called me recently because he just got a divorce and I reminded him with an asshole he was. 😊
i have a deva cut scheduled for next week but im worried about using devacurl products because of last year’s drama with their products causing balding😬
Giovanna Aguilar thats why they have a build up buster! Sometimes I give a good sulfate wash to really deep cleanse, of course deep-conditioning after. Just a balance, really.
You can either do a light drizzle rinse, or just leave it in very wet dripping hair. When you get out of the shower, you'll end up scrunching or blotting with a towel anyway so the excess conditioner will be taken out!
My hair is exactly like Kelly’s. Have had horrible cuts with stylists who said that they trained in Deva Curl method, but obviously did not. My very curly hair became 2 inches shorter when dry, than the front hair which is straighter. Awful. Since I cannot drive over 4 hours to get to Victor, NY from Rhinebeck, NY, could you recommend anyone closer to me who would be as wonderful as you are with straight/curly hair?❤️
No DevaCurl products here in Lebanon..this video is very inspiring..!!sometime I just dont accept my curls in my age..struggling with my nature and resisting to straight it..How ca i do to find them here or which product can replace it.?
I'd love to find a stylist with curly hair. This is a great service done at a salon, but I don't have hours to do my hair every day. I condition daily in shower, shampoo 2x per week, don't leave dripping wet (where would I put the dripping water while getting ready for work??) put product in, scrunch out excess with a super soft t-shirt, diffuse hair upside down for less than 5 minutes and out the door I have to go to work to pay for all of the curly products. LOL Product I use has a cast so I let it continue to air dry for 2-3 hours before shaking out. Not perfect every day, but my hair is pretty healthy considering the little time I spend on it. Thank you for helping us tame our curls:).
I know Im asking randomly but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
I'm confused as to how product can penetrate the hair when soaking wet because hair can only absorb so much liquid, and if that's water, it can't absorb anything else. The reason it's dripping is it's not absorbing since the hair is already maxed out.
Hi. Do you use deva curl? I’ve been seeing videos that this product ruins girls curls, making your curls die and frizz out, plus cause bald spots. Please research it. And try some app called, Think Dirty-Shop Clean.
Exactly!! I had a Deva cut at Devachan in 2011 in NY. Looked great that day. Never looked like that again. Followed the CGM for a year. Never had a good hair day. EVER. And notice that she had to sit under a dryer. I had to do that, too. For an hour. Do you have one of those dryers at home? Nope. Me neither. So how can she ever get these same results again? It takes my hair 7 hours to dry naturally. I'm almost done with the work day before I can stop looking like a shaggy dog and scrunch out my hair. I've been trying to wear my hair curly again while I'm WFH during this pandemic. But I gotta tell ya, it's a massive amount of work and I'm not sure I'm going to keep at it.
@@nicholedelehant9537 look at Manes by Mell. She doesn't follow all of the curly hair method but when I follow her tutorials my hair looks like it never has before - crazy definition and healthy. Everybody has different hair, she teachers you how to look at your hair and that key is to archive a balance between moisture and protein. She gives styling tips for different weather and seasons too.
See how her hair gets wet instantly? This is called medium or high porosity, NOT LOW POROSITY. The reason I have that in all caps is b/c most of the 'CGM community' is convinced that they have low porosity hair unless their hair is damaged. If your hair gets wet easily, like in this video, then you do not have low porosity hair. I don't care how long it takes to dry, it's about how long it takes to get wet. Think of it like a sponge. Also, there is nothing wrong with having naturally high porosity hair. Having low porosity hair is not hair goals in the slightest. BTW, thank you for the video. I loved it.
Would this curl an African American girls hair? Because my hair is clearly not this type of hair in the video. Most of the time y’all can get the from just wetting y’alls hair. Wish I could find something that works. Curls are life to me

I am half Japanese and have naturally curly hair, go figure! I've struggled with it my whole life. I'm reading the Curly Girl book and hope to have lots of luck with my curls.
Nah it just needs to come back. She's flattened the curl with heat for too long. Can take weeks of leaving it natural for curls to come back. Or protein treatment helps me 😊
Wish the audio for the stylist’s voice was better. Could hear the other women squealing and over acting but not her. What I could hear was great info!!! Thank you.
I agree with the comments below the hair is more waves than curls...the video was good but I wish it was more in details about each product after they were put into the hair, were they rinsed out? when you have curly hair you don't fluff your hair after it is dry because the curls will disappear..All in all a decent video. I learned one thing just add more water to hair the squish squish sound,,,
She was wrong about one thing- it does matter which way you twist the curl. Natural curls do twist a specific direction and if you finger twist the curl in the opposite direction it naturally goes the curl will not be as defined
I was thinking exactly the same. If she uses a diffuser and once the top layer is less damaged it will curl so much more. The air dry (sped up by a hooded dryer) doesn't enhance the curl add much as it could.
It’s great how everyone has different ideas on how to execute different ways of diffusing!!! Lifting every curly girl’s hopes of controlling their curly situation is a great way of helping others!
Jesus Is the Way Suave uses silicones which prevent your hair from absorbing and retaining moisture :( Silicones just put a layer around your actual hair which is what makes it SEEM "shiny and soft" when really it's not moisturizing your hair :/ Try googling "the curly girl method"!!

Both my daughters have curly hair too and a mad house I live in with these super curly hair!!!
Funny story, I've actually only told some of my clients that they can just get away with only using conditioner in their hair as a styling tool! It works! hehehe
You have beautiful curls - I would like to see your routine.
#1 I LOVE Asian girls with curly hair.
Actually better explained and showed in this video how to do and whay than in may videos I have seen. The cliens hair looks good after the hairdresser made her hair. But why don´t use the black orchid diffuser? My hair gets quite horrible in that kind of diffuser the client sat in.
She has alot of heat damage... best advice for her is to cut, start over, and stay away from the heat!!!
Heat kills curls
Candice Moses agreed that spidering is heat damage that’s why it frizzes and won’t curt properly ever no matter how many products she uses
Candice Moses yes exactly, is the heat that destroys curly hair. But people want both worlds u know ? It’s impossible 😆 you got to stick with only one mate!! Can’t handle 2 . I never blow dry /round brush or flat iron my curly hair ! I embrace it rather .
Amen!!!
Nice demonstration of how to gently take care of curly hair.
What was the brand of hair dryer on the wall that u used please?
I have wavy and frizzy hair. I’ve used the products. After awhile they build up too.
Giovanna Aguilar thats why they have a build up buster! Sometimes I give a good sulfate wash to really deep cleanse, of course deep-conditioning after. Just a balance, really.
How do we know if conditioner needs wet hair or dry hair? I’ve been taught to squeeze hair out first
Your teaching is incredible!! But do you rinsed the hair at all??
You can either do a light drizzle rinse, or just leave it in very wet dripping hair. When you get out of the shower, you'll end up scrunching or blotting with a towel anyway so the excess conditioner will be taken out!
How often do you wash your hair and style it with the gel? How long will the curls last?
Don't use devacurl it ruins curly hair
What are the clips used in front called again? My problem hair is curly everywhere but top and front and have tried everything!😠
They're just called root clips.
What products being used my hair is so dry
Nour Kade Try Fructis curl shaping gel. Its a green bottle with purple top. It’s great. They sell it at Walmart, Target and most drugstores.
@@mse28 thank you so much for answering..Yes!!We have in this country" Fructis branch" and i will try my best to find it!!
I plop my hair in a satin bonnet while its pretty wet. For 15 minutes then dab with a turbie towel. You can diffuse if you don't want to wait to dry
I went to research the product and the first thing to pop up was a class action lawsuit against devacurl 😳
I know Im asking randomly but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
Try all about curls by Zotos. Similar effect no issues. Also it was the no poo product that was causing the issues.
The pay changed their products. They’re better now.
1/2 Japanese with curly hair and too! Love devacurl!
Half Korean and my pops is mostly Irish (American from Penn Yan, NY)! lol You would love my mother! She's a trip!
I am oily on the scalp but I have type 2C hair. So that is not my problem why my hair is still frizzy.
As soon as my hair gets wet it’s so frizzy and I can’t do anything to fix it. I have these products, but I don’t think I’m doing it right HELP
I'm confused as to how product can penetrate the hair when soaking wet because hair can only absorb so much liquid, and if that's water, it can't absorb anything else. The reason it's dripping is it's not absorbing since the hair is already maxed out.
Do all Hair Dressers use a rolling Suit case for their Tools now ?
I too have curly hair but have hair fall a lot, please suggest how to prevent it.
we tend to loose 50 to 100 strands a day, times however many days you don't shampoo. Does it seem to add up that way?
Is it possible to do the same trick for a straight hair?
Wow, when stylist moved away from noise info given was invaluable. Wish she was in my area.
Curly hair is such a pain in the butt. This was very interesting, I have spent a fortune on hair products. I would love my hair to look like hers.
Do you ever rinse out the no poo or conditioner?
Yes, she did, they didn't show it.
Thanks for asking. I wondered the same thing.
Hi. Do you use deva curl? I’ve been seeing videos that this product ruins girls curls, making your curls die and frizz out, plus cause bald spots. Please research it. And try some app called, Think Dirty-Shop Clean.
Did she rinse out the conditioner before applying the gel?
no
and your hair looks great as well :)
2 hours later, “...It feels...effortless”.
🤦♀️exactly! People always say curly hair is easy....nope, not at all!
I want my hair like yours!
😍
The audio in this video is terrible....couldn't understand what the hairdresser was saying.
Bankrupt walking out of salon with products. 😕
Lets pull those clips out...break up the cast: me everyday at the last stoplight before getting to work 🤣. She looks so pretty with her new hair do.
Me too!
I loved it.
As someone with low porosity hair, it is for sure not hair goals and it is so freaking annoying. I honestly wish I had higher porosity hair
Would this curl an African American girls hair? Because my hair is clearly not this type of hair in the video. Most of the time y’all can get the from just wetting y’alls hair. Wish I could find something that works. Curls are life to me
onieshia napoleon check out this brand and watch a few of their videos. I think you will like it for your hair! ❤️

I am half Japanese and have naturally curly hair, go figure! I've struggled with it my whole life. I'm reading the Curly Girl book and hope to have lots of luck with my curls.
Her hair is more wavy than curly, IMHO.
Nah it just needs to come back. She's flattened the curl with heat for too long. Can take weeks of leaving it natural for curls to come back. Or protein treatment helps me 😊
True.
Melanie Kayrell it’s also heat damaged as well
Wish the audio for the stylist’s voice was better. Could hear the other women squealing and over acting but not her. What I could hear was great info!!! Thank you.
Overacting is right! Too old to still be behaving that way!
Wavy hair here and my scalp gets very oily so that’s false
My hair is exactly the same. Curly most but straighter at the front. So annoying. Great advice
I agree with the comments below the hair is more waves than curls...the video was good but I wish it was more in details about each product after they were put into the hair, were they rinsed out? when you have curly hair you don't fluff your hair after it is dry because the curls will disappear..All in all a decent video. I learned one thing just add more water to hair the squish squish sound,,,
love her hair!
Beautiful loose curls!
She was wrong about one thing- it does matter which way you twist the curl. Natural curls do twist a specific direction and if you finger twist the curl in the opposite direction it naturally goes the curl will not be as defined
Amber Abbott-Farr Absolutely!!!
It doesn't matter in minnnnnnneeeeeeee!!!! lol
Products used ?
excellent instructional video! thank you!
Your curls are amazing
Curly hair does not have as much sebaceous glands??? What??
Get the curly girl book, love! It's on Amazon! You'll love it!
Your sebaceous glands are what excrete the oil-like substance that moisturizes. They're most typically around the hair follicles.
Why don't you use an actual diffuser on each section to give the curls more of a curl??
I can get my hair looking beautiful with a diffuser and less product
I was thinking exactly the same. If she uses a diffuser and once the top layer is less damaged it will curl so much more. The air dry (sped up by a hooded dryer) doesn't enhance the curl add much as it could.
It’s great how everyone has different ideas on how to execute different ways of diffusing!!! Lifting every curly girl’s hopes of controlling their curly situation is a great way of helping others!
Thank you for this clear explanation :)
Nice😃. I achieve beautiful curl with Suave and I get great shine.
I love this! This video was an experience!
Recommendation for the metro Detroit area for a curly haircut hair stylist.similar to her hair but finer.
