Thank god for zip ties. Back in the 1960s, I remember using radiator hose clamps to secure the Sportster fork boots on my old wide glide forks. I got sick of those mega-ugly hose clamps and built up the fork tubes (under the gaitors) with strips of rubber that I glued together. It looked a hell of a lot cleaner. Ah, the things we did in the good old days. This is a very informative video -- thank you!
Hey Christian, sorry for the long delay in the reply. The reflectors are part of a one-piece bracket that supports the licence plate. Two things you could do to get rid of the refletcors are: 1. cut the ears off (the pieces of the mounting bracket that the reflectors hang off of) behind the licence plate--that way the license plate is still supported, but the extended ears are gone/hidden. 2. remove the mounting bracket completely and get a new metal license plate cover (the stock is plastic) and mount it directly to the extended tail of the fender (where the stock bracket mounts) using the stock holes. Hope that helps.
Chaparral friend excellent video I am writing to you because I would like to place the extension of the directions, what would be the process for you to send it to me in Colombia? Thank you!
I notice some people remove the whole unit; that is the wheel, fender and tubes as one piece. Others, remove the fender and front wheel, separating the fork tubes and then apply the boots. Which way is better? Thank you for the video.
Eric sup bud. Good video. I have a question though. The mini fairing per your co. website indicates it's not compatible or available for my 2015 Bolt R Spec?
+Kubilay Turna Thanks. Not sure what you mean? I just looked it up and put your bike/year in and it says its available? www.chaparral-racing.com/product/yamaha-mini-fairing/1tp-f83j0-r0-00.aspx
Picked up a standard Bolt yesterday. I know this is an old video, but I had a question on FEK installation. Do you HAVE to relocate the rear turn signals? Can the kit be installed just for the plate, lic. plate light and (I guess 🙄) the reflectors? Dont wanna spend the money if it forces me to set up ONE way, but I'd rather use the Yamaha part. Liked the vid, for the detailed installation of the parts!👍
Hey you didn’t show the part where you have to take those plastic protectors off the forks shocks, I’m having a hard time to remove mine, any advice? And where can I purchase that gator boots? Would you mind giving me the link? I appreciate it.
Hello, thanks for watching the video. It's been a couple years since we recoded that video, but if I recall correctly those plastic pieces are just snapped into the grooves at the top of the fork sliders. Try using a flat blade screwdriver to pry them up. I think there was a small slit on the backside that you could fit the tip of the screwdriver into--I think...? The fork gaiters are from Yamaha, but they are currently out of stock. You can find them here on our website: www.chapmoto.com/yamaha-fork-seal-covers.html
Amigo, cuál sería el procedimiento para que me venda los elementos del Colin? Quiero correr los direccionales hacia atrás! Por favor me indica, gracias!
Maybe im just not seeing this right , but it looks like the factory inner fender covers and holds wiring into the outer fender . wich protects it from mud and water . i couldent see from video if new kit did this as well .?
+Cheef Cherokee Yes you are correct about the first part. When you reinstall the new kit the wires aren't as covered up any more and you use the zip ties included in the kit to secure the wires up and out of the way (see 8:50 mark).
Chaparral Motorsports Just found this video. Have you found a way / do you have any recommendations for protecting the wiring from the elements? Thanks. I'll be using this video this weekend to install my eliminator.
Hello Doug, those are Yamaha fork seal covers/gaiters. It's been so long I don't know the measurements. It looks like they are not available. Not sure if they've been discontinued.
In the description for the mini fairing, it states that it is, "not compatible with Tall Handlebars". Is this true? Or did you guys make adjustments in order to make it fit?
+KuyaTakashi We did not have to make any special adjustments, other than just the bars back slightly. You also will need to order the extended cable kit in order to have the proper length.
Bee Bee Schipisch As far as im concerned the turn signals are fine where they are . I just want to get rid of that funky plastic inner fender overhang .
There is no point of getting fender eliminator I think. It isn't that bad compare to sports bikes. I'm still deciding on whether to get the fork gators. Makes it look more like a HD Iron though.
We used the Yamaha Tall bars, they're really "mini apes". Here's a link to check them out! www.chaparral-racing.com/product/yamaha-tall-handlebars/1tp-f61b0-v0-00.aspx#

Would've loved to see a final walk around view of the bike with the new installs.
Thanks for all the Bolt vids. Super helpful. Couldn’t have done some installs without them.
Great to hear! We are happy to be of assistance. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
Very helpful video. I installed the fender eliminator today and your video made it much easier.
We're glad to hear it helped, thanks for watching!

This video helped with installing the eliminator kit to get a visual.
Thank you very much for posting this. I also just installed the fender eliminator on my bolt about 20 minutes ago. Thanks and happy 4th of July!
No problem, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Enjoy your ride and hope you had a good 4th!
Thanks for this video! Without it the install of my fender eliminator kit would've easily taken twice as long 👍
Hey mykmenez! That's exactly what we like to hear! Glad it worked out for you, thanks for commenting and sharing.

Can you tell me the size of the gaiters (ie. 40 x 60 x 240 mm) and where to order?

Do you have a mini fairing color coded to the 2016 "Yellowish Grey"?? can't find it anywhere online.
I don't think I've ever seen a "yellowish grey" color on the bolt. Could it possibly be the Desert Bronze R-spec?
Nope...Yellowish Grey... See link 9441.qualityatv.net/web_display/view/26163980
I think that dealership was trying to describe the color maybe? Regardless, after checking into it, its only available in black
They could have just cut the gators length wise and slide it over the forks
That's not how they work. They are intended to be sealed top to bottom.
Do you guys still sell the rear fender eliminator kit??? I used the link and it’s not found
Here it is: www.chapmoto.com/yamaha-oem-license-bracket-kit-1tp-f16e0-v0-00
Can you use this kit and leave turn signals in factory location ?
no, the whole point of this kit is to relocate the turn signals.
Bee Bee Schipisch As far as im concerned the turn signals are fine where they are . I just want to get rid of that funky plastic inner fender overhang .

I can’t find a damn fender eliminator kit anywhere!!!!
Sorry to hear that. Not sure if they are producing any at this time.
