- The AGM-84E SLAM land attack missile is a stand-off, precision attack weapon that provides man-in-the loop guidance. It is ideal for long range attack against heavily defended ground targets.
The SLAM is just one of the many interesting weapon of the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet.

I was in VMFA-323 during the Shock and Awe. We fired 1 SLAM-ER and took out the Baghdad International Airport’s radar during the cruise missile strike to limit radar contact on the approaching first aircraft wave. Made a huge difference. Only two pilots qualified to fire the million dollar missile aboard CV-64 and the Marines took it out. If I recall that strike represented 1/3 of all the SLAM-ER missiles used in war. I lived watching the real footage!
I don't know if it's just me, but I always wait for the phrase "hit space bar to continue"
If only you could remember those days of the first 'simulations' on home computers... this is just insane. I am really happy that I can share this journey with you all. Amazing.
In fact, I pretty much stopped simming for that reason somewhere around the mid-'00s and wouldn't get back until the Ka-50 and the Su-25T (since those were the first AFM modules).
Same here. Started way back in the early 90's on a PC and before that on a ZXSpectrum. I can't believe I now fly the Hornet in VR. It's just brilliant.
@@SimDeck Started in the late 80s on my C64 with a "sim" called F-19 Stealth Fighter...and yes back in those days we could not even dream of something like DCS...we would have laughed and said it was impossible....

Why is the video quality from the slam so much worse in game than this tutorial? Even if I fly directly behind the thing, I often can't tell what green blobs are HUD elements for the missile, and which ones are things on the ground

Yep should be interesting. I suspect that as it's a subsonic missile things like a 2S19 will eat these for lunch unless they're used in low altitude mode.
Probably wont survive against Tor.

What is the max distance for the datalink between the missile and the aircraft ?
i think its pretty close cuz video feed is bad when you are far
I would rather use something else then Slam because I can bearly locate a Target from any weapon with camera like 65f because by the time I find them I'm almost over them or in their range
Practice and proper orbiting will help that.

@@irseeker9989 jsows are great. they are wounerable to supressing fire and they cant be controlled aftereards but they are still the best solution in most sitsuations

Do we have to keep datalink pod in line of sight with the missile to receive picture from it? How much it differs comparing with 802AKG missile?

Sadly the Airforce does not have the AGM-154C only the A and B version so they won't make the C😔
The JSOW B is the coolest one though, it's a submunition dispensor similar to the CBU-97, capable of taking out tens of MBT's within close proximity of eachother

Most servers will ban or limit the AGM-84E as they do with other type of munition.

IDK, JF-17 C-802AKG datalink image is so much clear than the SLAM, maybe because SLAM is older
So, you have to turn off the SLAM to use terminal guidance? Does that then mean another 2.5 minutes of warm up every time you want to use subsequent SLAMS?

Ya right - except for those poor sims on the ground.
The SLAM does not have the same warhead as a TLAM, the SLAM's is 360Kg, the TLAM is 450Kg, just looking at them side by side there's no way the TLAM's warhead could ever fit in the SLAM.
Are these weapon Systems coming to the f-16 in the future waggs?
Is it normal that if you get the TV Picture from Datalink it isn't just a little bit blury, but you can see a lot of static comming trough?
What the heck, whenever you fire the slam on datalink once it starts sending data it looks like you were already uncaged, but for me it shows up caged and wont let me uncage it when I press the uncage button, when i'm using the walleye it works perfectly, I don't even think I need to press uncage or anything. Anyone know whats up I've followed this and grim reapers guides to the letter.
when the missile gets closed to the waypoint I can see the targets on the ground but even though I press the tdc depress button and then start to guide the missile it starts falling like a rock and doesn't impact the targets, it's like it ran out of energy. Too weird since I set correctly the previous configuration in both DDIs
How can i get AGM-84E uncaged and slew the SLAM seeker on MFCD ?
DCS, because because half a million dollars a shot is a bit pricey for the average shooter ;)
is that camera on slams really that bad? its so hard to locate targets if they are in the forest for example. or to determine if the target is already hit or not. and impossible to find bunkers even if they were at shore line
The 3 dislikes are the Iraqi coastal targets.
Very interesting! The F/A-18 is getting to be a really capable multi-mission platform in DCS.

lag would be less than 10ms, thus almost unoticable

is it possible when typing in a "precise" waypoint as target waypoint that thin will exactly hit or you only have to do little correction due to weather perhaps ?

I could not ever slew the missile. I set it up for waypoint targeting and the missile would always overshoot the target regardless.

Is the SLAM currently available? I was just getting ready to try it out, but it doesn't appear anywhere in the loadout screen.
In the last part of the slam flight, when it was just over the target, it looks like it adjusted his trajectory. Is it automatic or it was you? How can you do that?

If you're orbiting the target, which antenna should you use? What is the cutoff for effective use of the fwd antenna?
forward of the wing leading edge and behind that is what i go by to determine which one to use.
I'm guessing because you're gonna be busy with the video feed off of one missile. You can only fire one at a time ?
You could space them apart (assuming you can link to a missile mid flight), which would work as long as only one is in terminal at once.
Alternatively, I imagine you can hand control to a wingman like with the walleye

I find it very difficult to slew it in the end. No targets destroyed so far.
Maybe turn off realistic tdc slew so you don't have to press tdc to slew.

Would love to see cargo planes in this game! I think it would widen your audience infinitely from attracting people from civilian flight simulators to people like me who only have a yoke to fly with. I think it would add a whole new layer to missions and planes like the C-2 Greyhound are the last piece of the puzzle for communities of Carrier Air Wings in the game.
I mean, if this is already being developed you can take my money already!

What the difference between the AGM-84C? Or is there none?
The AGM-84C has no Pop Attack function unlike the D. The SLAM is a Harpoon Missile equipped with the Imaging Infrared Sensor of the Maverick-D and the Walleye Datalink.

Looking pretty good here! OT: What happened to the F-22 4K 60fps module that was under development....the graphics were astonishing! Just a technical issue(s) that haven't been resolved yet? Would you need a GeForce 2080 Ti (x2) and a i9-9900K to get the max settings for this one? Hopefully, this one is still under consideration!!!
Relatively easy my ass. I couldn't even tell what you were shooting at. You said 2 aircraft on the tarmac. All I saw was a couple blurry greenish-white blobs that didn't look anything like an aircraft to me.
If you had used the TGP often enough, it will still be like in the video but it would have been crystal clear to you. I saw it clearly. (I use the TGP every day.)
The matrix? you get used to it. I don't even see the code. All I see is.. Blond, Brunet, Redhead...
