Today we explored Myanmar's new capital city: Nay Pyi Taw. This place is considered one of the strangest cities in the world. It's so quiet, we hardly saw anyone! There are huge highways with barely a single car on them, including a 20-lane highway that runs past the presidential palace which was EMPTY!
We also visited the Uppatasanti Pagoda which is a replica of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda in the old capital of Yangon.

Given how big and empty the city looks... they should film the next fast and furious movie there.. like FOR REAL!
12 lane empty highway..bruhhh
And it was a GREAT area for them to drice big army cars in......
This place is so quiet me and my gf would love it lol
Haha book a trip!
I’m from Myanmar 🇲🇲 go therev
go and live there, see if you can stay there more than 3 months
people keep leaving because they keep getting freaked out on how quiet it is
Naypyitaw is getting better and better.I love naypyitaw city.
It's so breath- taking!! Love this country from cambodia 🇰🇭🙏!! Wish this country will be better soon and also pray to the God 🙏 ♥️ pls help Myanmar from that crazy military coup!
I also hope the people can get their country back 🙏🙏
Very beautiful city , Love from Cambodia 🇰🇭
I agree.
God support military junta
Oh khmer buddhists believe god 😱😱
Btw, the building you showed is the Parliament( called Hluttaw or something) not the Presidential Palace which is a different one without the domes and spires on top.
And there is no queen or any Monarchy in Burma and hasn’t been one for 100 years 😀
They have a weird parliament dual House system with 25% appointed by the military and 75% elected in both Houses.
thanks for the info! We kept getting told off for stopping, so might have been filming the wrong building I suppose. Sounds like you are quite familiar with myanmar?
Rob & Jenny I don’t know about familiar but like you, I’ve visited Naypyidaw 😀. Spent a few days there. The ornate building is the parliament and there is a presidential palace building without all the domes. You are probably more familiar with it because you are covering more places like Hpu-An which I didn’t visit.😀 I spent most of my time in Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay along with Naypyidaw and Ngapali. The 4 week visa runs out fast in Burma.
I’ve generally found the city to be quirky and weird and was later told it’s a city only the military and political people go. The junta built the whole city as the new capital only 15-20 years ago and moved everything there.
I'm from Mizoram, neighbour of Myanmar. And i think nay pyi taw is great! Greater than Kolkata where there are plenty of traffic jams, vehicle horn used as musical instruments and where there is no law.
This city is next gen capil for Myanmar a plan city where everything has its place. And i love it.
When the city becomes populated, traffic will be absolutely terrible. Building huge roads just induces demand for cars, which are the real problem.
Cities should be built around pedestrians.
Nay Pyi Taw was build by the time when military ruled the country and the people who live in Nay Pyi Taw are either government officers or military officers . Burmese people never really consider it as a capital city . For locals , Yangon is still the capital city of Myanmar ❤️😊
We would agree having been to both places!
We need a Fast and Furious street racing here.
Thank you for another wonderful video. You are right there isn't a whole lot of people up there. Mostly govt buildings. It was a capital created by the govt thru centralized planning. The govt moved the capital but the people stayed behind in Yangon. It is a weird feeling to see roads where no traffic flows. The opposite is true in the Yangon.
Haha. We have just arrived in Yangon, and we can see it is much busier! 😀
This looks so awesome I'd love a city with barely any people I live in NYC and I'm tired of people
Whereever you go a scooty comes behind you. 😜. Nice vlog. Beautiful city. ❤️
😂😂 we love the freedom! Unfortunately in NayPyiTaw there is basically no other way around. Taxis are very expensive and distances are much too far to walk. 🛵
This is one of a kind. I can feel the emptiness at the back of the screen here. But I love it.
Perfect city for introverts
😂😂😂
Welcome to Myanmar thank for your visiting
I want to visit from Bangladesh
Watching this video from Dhaka
#Bangladesh🇧🇩
Thanks for watching! We've not been to bangladesh! I bet it is really interesting! :)
actually the place you were visiting here 7:46 is called the Uppatasanti Pagoda ^^
I’m dreaming of moving there. not my birth state but at least it’s somewhere inside the country.
How can the capital of a country be empty even though it is new?😀 You had a really rare experience!😂
It is a very interesting place! Built from scratch and noone has moved there. It's so interesting if not quite odd.
The ruling junta built that city as the new capital between 2000-2006. Then they moved everything there from Yangon. It was off limits to regular people during the junta rule.
So even now, regular people don’t bother going there. Apart from the odd tourists, it is full of military and political big wigs.
It’s a pretty big city but unfortunately not many people. The place has nice hotels and restaurants but it doesn’t have the history and culture of Yangon or Mandalay.
Its atually peaceful i am from myanmar
its a vanity project for an authoritarian dictatorship

In the office as almost 99% of population is government staff. Visit around 8:30 am to 9:00 am and 4:30pm to 5pm then you can see people in buses and cars 😁

Really enjoy your video, Jenny. Try to ride the motorcycle sometimes would be fun. Love you beb xxx❤️
She had a crash once and now is a bit nervous.
Thank you for the kind comment! ❤️
Were you there over four years ago?
No people? I want to go there.
😂😂 maybe. Not sure how much there is to do there. We didn't find the mall, but we heard there are a few there.
You left your bike stand down @1.22
Can be a big problem
Thanks for noticing! Always doing something like that. The bike was pretty horrible to ride. 😀
Just don't turn left 😊
😂😂 true.
Rob & Jenny They actually rented you one of the gas powered scooters? We were told foreigners can’t rent or drive motorized bikes or scooters in Burma and the only thing you can rent are those ebikes. This was in Bagan but I thought they had some kind of rule against renting motorcycles. Apparently not.
@@MuhammadIamhardBrucelee oh interesting! Maybe it's just in Bagan? Or maybe they did something naughty!
Hi! I am from myanmar, yes it is empty because it is just new it was first discovered in 2005 so not much people might be there but if you want to go to crowded places I recommend Yangon.
The landingstrip must be correct, thats also what I heard. Yangon is pretty much at the border of the country and this is in the middle of the country (Nowhere). And again today, militairy state. They are really suspicious about being invated. Maybe they never wanted a democracy and already planned everything till today. I was there in 2016. It was strange but also a very good and interesting experience.
I live in myanmar

Try raising your stand, I heard it's safer (1:09)
the city is very new
Yes it is. I hope it will all be safe.
Love you Rob and Jenny.
Rob and jenny.
I love you both.
I should have watched your video before I was in Nay Pyi Taw... How did you rent a motorcycle??
the hotel organised it for us. It is very difficult to do anything without the hotel being involved because there is nowhere near any of the hotels to go to.
Naypyidaw, area 6 times bigger than New York, 10% of New York population, simply a lifeless city.
I really like these kinds of places ! But honestly they should add more stuff in here to make the place more unique because it's a bit too empty , they need to get inspired by other weird capital cities .
Nanti ada lg tempat bginian, namnya nusantara
I in myanmar I in Nay pyi taw
yeah.Nay Pyi Taw is quiet.
Are they on full lockdown?
This was a year ago and the coup happened a couple of days ago.
She sounds like the redheaded girl from How I met your mother series
How is your feeling to visit this city
Is this jay country 8 miles away from home vlogg , beautifull country
Hi,may i know what the income source for myammar country, and why there no car
There is a lot of information online about this city, in summary it was built as a vision for the future to build a mega city that was impressive for the country and be a central location for the country. However because there weren't that many people living there yet it is very quiet. Also some of the roads have allegedly been built to allow planes to land. But not sure if that's true.
@@RobandJenny thanks
i wish i could go to naypyidaw
1:12 they forget to raise the motorcycle kickstand while driving 😅
😂😂😂 how silly we are. Glad we didn't crash it like that. 😂😂
kickstand: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa help
If this city exists in india then can't believe what will happen 🤣🤣
The city could eventually be more populated in the future but imagine the billions spent there considering that most of the people still have no basic services.
spectacular
Thanks.
Go to the mandalay that is olden kingdom in burma

@Chase Zzz dude i am from myanmar that is ghost city bro.
l born in naypyitaw
How was it to grow up there?
Naypyidaw is certainly not the most interesting city in Burma. It’s a modern capital and doesn’t have much history like Yangon or Mandalay. It is ok to spend a couple of days there and that is it.
It does have the Peace Pagoda, a botanical garden and zoo along with the Parliament building.
The regular locals don’t go there and they say the only Burmese who visit there are military Generals and politicians. Must be a scary place for the locals they want to keep a distance from haha.
Lol ikr when I visited there it wa sso peaceful
Noone out anywhere. Such a funny feeling for a capital city!
@@RobandJenny yep I was like this is the capital city🤔 more like the calmest place on the planet🌍🌎 periodt🧭
लेकिन वहां की हवा बहुत अच्छी है
How I wish we have this in Singapore. Funny how a supposedly rich country can’t afford to build such roads or own such land. Hopefully our neighbours can donate some to us.
nope
@@muhammadfirdausfebriansyah4481 hence why it’s a luxury we couldn’t afford. Because you guys prefer to sell land to China.
_Yangon is the biggest city of Myanmar and smallest city of Myanmar is the capital city....Naypatiew.....( I don't know spelling) Sorry_
You might say capital city because it says so but for us burmese, we just think of it as a country side lol
Kutonipun medeni sanget njih...
Sepen ....
NayPyiTaw is a city for nomenklatura. This is where high ranking officials would house their mistresses, away from prodding eyes of Yangon PIs.
Which language you are speaking ?
English. 🤔
Same language as your comment, though they got like a British accent

Whereas Myanmar ethnics regions are totally cutoff from modern world without electricity, medical, road connectivity, education, water supply to mention few.🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲 This is MYANMAR 😡🤣😁
Also if this keeps up then Naypyidaw will end up looking like Detroit.
Fun fact : i live in nay pyi taw
What's it like?
Its good and i see many people yes i been to that road and its empty
The reason why its empty is because theres not many people
You should go to Yangon. There is nothing in Naypyidaw.
It was an experience 😅 we did visit Yangon and it was lovely!!
Cam to Indonesian bro&sist
What this video shows it that the folks taking it are not anywhere near where people live. They are showing us huge roads etc that are actually fairly common now in Myanmar now and in the past. These things have nothing to do with the people. Sort of just massive building projects that served their purpose. So what was their purpose ? To be built!!!! To be a showcase used a few times a year and having nothing to do with the populace. Sooo, unless ya can find your way to where the million people live you have just shown as an empty sort of parade ground. Not knocking this video but it has little to do with Myanmar. I bet 95% of the populace has never been there. Further if ya don't even know the Shewedagon Pagoda ya know nothin' of this country or its people.
Real captial is yangon
