- In this video I do a detailed breakdown and review of my good ol' 2006 Hobie Outback; the classic pedal fishing kayak. We go over the hull, drive, seat (some upgrades I did there), rudder, hatches, etc... If it's on the kayak I probably talk about it. I was going to sell mine (2007) outback, yesterday I just went out with it then I changed my mind. It's super stable, especially in the windy or wavy conditions. Lots people like to upgrade the seat, but I felt very comfortable. Lots room to store my fishing tackle, personally I like it better than revolution 13 (mine is 2017). I just swapped the revo' turbo fin peddle drive, I could get to 5.5 mph with all my fishing tackle yesterday. It's real fishing machine 👍

Excellent information much appreciated!! I've been looking at pre-owned and some people don't know what they have. I have my eyes on one of this exact model but it's missing several components (seat, drive, etc?0 so, This is exactly what I needed to see! Any chance you could send me in the direction of replacement bungees and a drive that would fit?
Bungees you can find generically on amazon. Just cut to length. I'd recommend checking out hammerhead kayaks for a drive. They make one identical to the original hobie drive for a fraction of the price. I love mine

Awesome kayak, if you can find an older Jackson kayak seat it may be a good option if you decide to upgrade seats. Seem to remember guys buying new JK seats before Hobie made a better seat on the Outback. Solid boat.
I've heard the jackson seats worked well. The realtree one I got seems to work pretty good for me though. You CoG is pretty high so it's a little rocky, but I don't mind
I'd much rather have my 2013 PA12 rather than a new 2024 model. At least with the older ones when you got a good one it just last forever if you take care of it. The newer ones seem like they have all kinds of issues.
