I suspect your line/reel locked up after that long cast because of braid twist. When relocating for a 8-10 minute run, I’ll take the lure off and trail out the line to mid-spool or more as we run. The tension on the line takes out the twist, same technique we used to do with mono. Works very well and yes, braid sometimes requires it too.
