Also, here's another recent video where I show how versatile this thing is with resistance bands ruclips.net/video/j7OMBUnwloo/видео.html
I actually had a part in the video I edited out where I mentioned that I feel a lot of people don't consider these too much. Thanks again for watching Lou.
I have the Powertec version myself. Easily one of my favorite and most used pieces of equipment in my home gym. Very versatile, replaces so many machines in one and they don't take up a lot of space. They are priced cheap new, and you can find them even cheaper second hand if lucky enough. Although not full commercial quality, they are built quite sturdy and should be more than enough for home gyms. 10/10.
This dude legit is the reason why i have a home gym! Im obsessed with him. I was just looking for a fullbody home gym to go with my total gym and he answered me again omg!
Awesome, I've been debating on buying one for awhile. Should fit in the corner of my apartment, every movements I could want and being able to lift heavy. Was very excited to see your opinion on this style of equipment!
Your gym is looking pretty full now but I’d love if you reviewed the inspire bl1. It’s super compact and lightweight for a full gym and doesn’t use weights. It uses body weight for resistance up to %150 percent of your weight. A 200lb user could get 300lbs of resistance. Seems like such a cool machine.
I just have a little comment on the squat bar attachment. I used to own the Powertec version of this many years ago. I think that the squat bar attachment was meant to be used in conjunction with the lever handles to support body or weight plate weight. The squat bar attachment pins are small and I don't think were meant to be the sole support for all weight load placed on it. Because the squat bar free hangs after attaching it to the lever handle, you could swing it under the lever handle when doing squats. Then the squat bar will be pushing against the lever handle and not rely on the attachment pins to support the weight. Especially since squats are usually really heavy weight. When doing back extensions, the squat bar should swing above the lever handles so that your downward body weight load will be supported by the lever handle rather than the small attachment pins. I hope that makes sense. I'm not too good at explaining things. In other words, don't rely on the small thin attachment pins to support weight. They should only be used to attach the bar to the lever handle. The squat bar should be swung above or below the lever handle and push against the lever handles which should support all of the weight resistance. I could by wrong but at least that's how I did it when I had the machine. Great review by the way. You covered everything in an easy to understand way that really helps us all. Thank you. It does look like a cheap version of the Powertec but it is a fraction of the price. For the vast majority of home gym owners I’m sure its fine and wonder what extra you would actually get from its much more expensive competitors?
I really can't compare to the powertec, I was eyeing that of course for years. I'll keep updating, but so far it seems decent. I'd imagine Powertec is built stronger just respecting their increase in price, but for what I need it for, it does the job.
Thank you. Yes, it's help up good. I've since given it to a friend after I picked up a powertec. Here's recent video comparing the GWMD to the Powertec. ruclips.net/video/tahnVv-3xr8/видео.html
I bought a used older 1 station powertec levergym for $500 with all its accessories leg press, tricep push down, pec fly, leg curl, bicep curl . I love it but it's older version doesn't have split arms, Exercise bands attachments. This amazon version looks like a great cheaper Alternative to powertec.
I was looking at the Body Solid leverage gym. Do you think this compares as far as sturdiness and quality to that one? I may purchase this one now depending on your feedback.
Not bad home gym is the way to go honestly. I have the powertec levergym and ironmaster 2000 in my home gym along with pepin adjustable fast series dumbbells from 20 to 120 lbs. never going to a commercial gym again unless im on vacation haha
hey, give me some advice. I have ironmaster Bench pro with almost all attachments. I'm thinking whether to buy an ironmaster im2000 or sell everything I have from ironmeaster and buy a powertec levergym. what do you think? if I buy powertec I will have to sell the barbell and only use dumbbells.
@@rdzrepresent I would go with the ironmaster 2000 with all the attachments especially the new bench with the sit-up attachment so you can sit and plant your legs and do lat pulldowns … I find I use the ironmaster more for most of my movements than the levergym after 3 years
Would be very interesting if you did a video showing resistance band exercises using this machine, there seems to be plenty of potential anchor points. Also resistance bands and weights combined.
Very much appreciate that brother. I honestly have dabbled in all sorts of resistant training modalities since I was 16. By far my bread and butter though has been higher volume bodybuilding type workouts. In the last three years I’ve been following an upper lower body split 2 times a week. I think the biggest thing that works is to keep being consistent with whatever form resistance training you’re doing and if you need to put on more muscle mass, have a slight caloric surplus with a higher protein diet.
This ends about the same price as the power tec considering you get that with a power tec you get the bench also. But if you already have a bench then you have to buy this as you cant buy the power tec without the bench
What's the resistance curve like on this? Is it more difficult in the extended or closed position of exercises? Or does it depend on which exercise? For example, resistance bands are harder in the closed position. Is this the opposite?
It's kind of how you'd picture it with the arc motion, but it just depends on the exercise. If you benching it's hardest at the beginning and lighter as you finish the press.
2 questions. A) another reviewer loves this but didn't think for squats it was that great and recommended buying a lever squat machine for an extra. What do you tbink about this machine for sqauts ? B) why do you think there are a lot of these ( from all the different cos) on fb marketplace ? Or is that common for most gym equipment because lots of people are quitters ?
I personally loved the way it feels for multi-joint leg stuff (squats, lunges, RDL, Goodmorings). I was messing with a variety of squat positions as well. I think it's still good to mix it up with other leg exercises, but as with everything, there's always personal preference. As for the second part , I don't really know. I don't use the marketplace, but I assume people just don't use it or it's not for them. These are probably also easier to unload than other multi gyms.
Being available used doesn't mean it's bad equipment. I moved and sold a Cybex half rack rather than move it along with about 600# of Olympic weight, a FID bench, 90# Powerblocks and several aerobic machines and they all worked...moved and to a smaller place. Sure it could be bad or good but people move, quit, change their minds and workout philosophy, get into power lifting, strong man or Olympic lifting or just want to do classic lifts with classic equipment...or feel free weights are best. Studies seem to say otherwise though... Ideally you'd try to find a unit on a sales floor to try it out...ideally...or if available used try it out or don't buy it... Good luck!
I have powertec version . For squats, build your self a belt squat platform with pully then hook up to the cable. Or do a lower cable squat movement without the belt squat platform, with wedges or weight plate under your feet.
You were mentioning not to put your body weight onto the squat bar but if you pivot the squat bar over on top of the press handles I'm sure it will then safely hold your body weight. 👍😎💪
I did thing you of that, but haven't tried it. I'm that's what you're supposed to do. There's a video with another free hanging on it, but I don't know how he pulled that off.
Looks pretty good. I have the Body Solid version. This doesn't have independent lever arms , and the squat option i do not like at all. But the lever arms on it are great for rows ,and can even be used for a pretty decent rack pull variation.
Actually it does have independent lever arms. I have the powertec version of this machine and they are built very similar. There are two removable pins on the arms, one is a safety catch for the arms and the other is to engage or remove unilateral (independent)movement. Look closely towards the back of the arms around the pivot point and you will see the two pins in the video. These Leverage machines honestly are amazing and so functional/universal.
@@michaelkulman7095Yes I believe this is the cheapest version, but honestly they are all similar I have the Powertec version. You can do pull ups and dips on the Powertec version. Just set the arms to a flat/horizontal level with the safety pin catch and you can do dips, even weighted it is very sturdy. For pull ups I place a lat pulldown bar attachment on top of the resting hooks near the upper pulley and hang from them, it is quite sturdy as well. Granted either pull ups or dips you may need to bend your knees due to limited hanging space, but yes doable and works great.
No bench and cheaper? Thats actually good for me. I am considering switching from cage to this and an was looking into Powertec but their bench is "not the best". I would love to use my Ironmaster with a unit like this!
Even if their bench is okay a lot of people have a bench or could pick up one used for less. The option of not including a bench is a good one if common decent benches can work but I also sort of see why Powertec doesn't want to do it this way...even though they could and say use another bench at your own risk.
Give me about one more day and you'll have a very detailed answer in a video. I'll just say there's some pros and cons to each that you actually might have a different thought on what's best for you. Regardless, I'll highlight the differences.

The squat I totally trust and if it did fail it shouldn't cause any harm. But I think the way I tried the back extension was the wrong way the bar was positioned and they just had a bad video of used improperly.

Hi, I just ordered this leverage gym from amazon, but cant find the squat bar to buy it, can you post the link as to where you got it from or the name of the company that makes it, I searched for gmwd outside amazon and no results were found, thanks.
I still use it regularly. One note was the pinned comment on making sure you install the cable a certain way. The only thing I'm noticing is that isn't really that big of a deal (but I'm mindful about) is the middle of the unit where the top and bottom connect with screws like create a little space if say you hang on it with pull ups on the backside. It may just need occasional tightening of the screws, but I just don't do pull ups and or dips just in case of potential wear n tear. Otherwise everything is great.

Im currently dealing with them to see how to resolve this issue. Ill update you guys...sad i still cant use the machine 😔
I see what you mean based on their picture, I'm honestly not sure. I'd assume it's 250 a side. To be safe I'd email them on that one. For whatever its' worth, I'm never putting more than 135 on a side (don't even think I have yet either).

Thanks brother, happy you found the equipment interesting to your needs.
I really want to pick one of these up. How heavy duty is the build? I wanted to get a Powertec, but for the price this seems like a good alternative.
I really can't compare to the powertec, I was eyeing that of course for years. I'll keep updating, but so far it seems decent. I'd imagine Powertec is built stronger just respecting their increase in price, but for what I need it for, it does the job.
Great review . Do you still use it? Has it Held up?
Was going to buy the powertech chest press. But this leverage gym got me thinking. Thank you
Thank you. Yes, it's help up good. I've since given it to a friend after I picked up a powertec. Here's recent video comparing the GWMD to the Powertec. ruclips.net/video/tahnVv-3xr8/видео.html
@@hybridresistance Thank you.
So far it's still holding up very nicely.
Excellent review- thank you!
Thank you!
I was looking at the Body Solid leverage gym. Do you think this compares as far as sturdiness and quality to that one? I may purchase this one now depending on your feedback.
Biggest con with the Body Solid is that it doesn't have the option to separate the arms from each other. They are always locked in place.
@@hybridresistance gotcha. Thank you. I think I’m going to purchase this one then.
Not bad home gym is the way to go honestly. I have the powertec levergym and ironmaster 2000 in my home gym along with pepin adjustable fast series dumbbells from 20 to 120 lbs. never going to a commercial gym again unless im on vacation haha
I'm with you brother, I never thought I'd leave the gym
Is this literally a black and red powertec gym or are there a few areas
Where they cut corners?
hey, give me some advice. I have ironmaster Bench pro with almost all attachments. I'm thinking whether to buy an ironmaster im2000 or sell everything I have from ironmeaster and buy a powertec levergym. what do you think? if I buy powertec I will have to sell the barbell and only use dumbbells.
@@rdzrepresent I would go with the ironmaster 2000 with all the attachments especially the new bench with the sit-up attachment so you can sit and plant your legs and do lat pulldowns … I find I use the ironmaster more for most of my movements than the levergym after 3 years
@@aynrandfan7454 thanks, you helped me. it's a fact. Can you tell me what takes up more space? I think levergym, am I right?
Would be very interesting if you did a video showing resistance band exercises using this machine, there seems to be plenty of potential anchor points. Also resistance bands and weights combined.
I got you covered, check out my latest video on the channel as that’s exactly what I did.
@@hybridresistance sorry about that, I should have looked first! Thank you.
Hey what tools are best to use when putting the leverage gym together?
From what I remember, pretty sure Allan wrench and socket wretch
Dude you're jacked. How did you build youre physique? Curious as to what type of routine you used and what exercise you feel really worked for you.
I live in nyc and I hate eating for machines. Thanks needed this.
no problem, thanks for watching.
Bro… You are doing the most!!! That looks hella cool!! 🙌😂
Thanks brother. You got to send me more pics of your home gym set up. Feel like I only scratched the surface with your TG mods.
@@hybridresistance Yes sir 🫡
what would the minimum distance from wall be? I would like to purchase but need space to park in garage. TIA
I was considering powetech this might be an alternative
Powertec is still good I had for 2 yrs and so far held up good
@@screamofitness Awesome I think powertec has a higher weight tolerance 500 lbs
I can vouch for Powertec, at least the old ones from 15 years ago. Built like a tank.
This ends about the same price as the power tec considering you get that with a power tec you get the bench also. But if you already have a bench then you have to buy this as you cant buy the power tec without the bench
I was also eyeing PowerTech for awhile
You can also push arms straight up and hold using double sided pad with magnet , gives you more space, another hack from carter that I copied.
pretty smart piece of equipment, enormous amount of things you can do on it.
Wish this was available in my country
What's the resistance curve like on this? Is it more difficult in the extended or closed position of exercises? Or does it depend on which exercise? For example, resistance bands are harder in the closed position. Is this the opposite?
It's kind of how you'd picture it with the arc motion, but it just depends on the exercise. If you benching it's hardest at the beginning and lighter as you finish the press.
How much weight can bench with. Can it handle 350?
Personally I love doing bent over rows on this machine. This is one of the best things I've ever bought.
I moved and sold a Cybex half rack rather than move it along with about 600# of Olympic weight, a FID bench, 90# Powerblocks
and several aerobic machines and they all worked...moved and to a smaller place.
Sure it could be bad or good but people move, quit, change their minds and workout philosophy, get into power lifting, strong man or Olympic lifting or just want to do classic lifts with classic
equipment...or feel free weights are best.
I bought a yellow colored Powertech leverage gym about twenty years ago for $800. That thing was built like a tank!
Those are great for sure!
Thanks for watching. I almost pulled the trigger on that one multiple times about a year ago.
Can you do chins and dips on the body solid?
Or the Powertech?
I assume this on in the video is the cheapest of these?
Any info helps...
Wonder why mine doesn’t have the GMWD brand sticker on the bottom like yours
Great video review, thanks!
No problem thanks for watching.
Just finished setting up my machine, one issue am facing is that the safety pin is aligned with lifting arms, driving me nuts
Are you talking just the small pins going through the large metal (L) shape pins?
How much clearance do you need from the wall?
Great alternative if you don’t want to get the powertec version.. 👍🏻
Do you have any experience with the Powertec lever gym? I've been debating between these 2 for a while now
Unfortunately no. I'm honestly thinking of getting one to compare with this thing .
Good Video ,Good Machine for Home Workout !👍👍👍
Thank you!
I have a room for it in my house. Does this have to be on a concrete floor?
No, it doesn't have to.
How does this compare to the Powertech Workbench Leverage machine?
I can't directly compare because I haven't used a powertech, but the function is all there compared to those.
Any workaround to get this delivered to Ireland?
Cant use your Amazon link unfortunately 😕
try this one. These guys change there link all the time amzn.to/4cQ4PFa
Forgetting the money, which is better between this and powertec??
Give me about one more day and you'll have a very detailed answer in a video. I'll just say there's some pros and cons to each that you actually might have a different thought on what's best for you. Regardless, I'll highlight the differences.
Hello, I bought mine cause of your awesome review! But i can’t get the squad rod on it, I’m thinking the two arms didn’t go through all the way
I message them on Amazon and the send me another squad rod but I still can’t get it to fit
Any ideas ? Thank you
Can you give me more details on that? I'll have to go look at mine to see what you mean.
@@hybridresistance thank you for replying. So when I connect the squad rod on to the two arms my squad rod doesn’t fit it’s short. So when I click it onto one of the arms, it’s like 1 inch short, I need two force the two arms together so it can kinda lock but it doesn’t lock. I try to hammer each arm to the beam in the middle but nothing changes
Thank you for replying
I got the Body Solid, it's almost the same machine, I like it a lot.
Those do look cool and a great value as well.
Very cool. Not bad for the price. If free weight plates were less expensive I might think about this. Enjoy your new toy. God bless bro.
I hear you. I basically caving to purchasing more weights
buy your plates now, the prices are only going to get worse in my opinion.
@@outtrigger i think you’re right. Just heard something about how meat prices are going to be rising as well.
@@hybridresistance have you done a video on your diet before?
If the center bar gave way under bodyweight exercises, is it still safe to use for squatting?
The squat I totally trust and if it did fail it shouldn't cause any harm. But I think the way I tried the back extension was the wrong way the bar was positioned and they just had a bad video of used improperly.
@@hybridresistance thank you for the quick response.
Is the powertec bench compatible with the GDWD lever machine?
It will work, just doesn't attach directly to the machine like powertec's. I actually make a comparison video between these two machines if you haven't seen it in one video.
I need one to buy
What’s the space needed for this machine
Very nice Mike, I'm interested.
Thanks for for watching Terry.
Do the arms go low enough to do, decline bench?
I'd honestly have to check on that, but I'd say it also depends on the bench.
Any issues using this with the Ironmaster super bench?
I actually never got a chance to try the superbench when I had this one. But I'm sure it would be fine.
@@hybridresistance Is there a way to set up the pendulum squat foot plate on these? Heard squats feel awkward on these.
Does it come with exercise chart. Checked the website and didn’t find any
Unfortunately, no.
appreciate the info
Good review 👍🏿
Thank you my friend.
So no back extension.. dang it. How about pull ups?
Pull ups work, you just lock it in with the pin.
Excellent review of this piece of equipment.
Thanks so much
Any way to do leg extensions?
Not that I know of know. Easiest option is to just get a bench with an attachment
Hi, I just ordered this leverage gym from amazon, but cant find the squat bar to buy it, can you post the link as to where you got it from or the name of the company that makes it, I searched for gmwd outside amazon and no results were found, thanks.
Hello, do you mean the padded squat bar on the machine? If so that will come with the this company's lever gym as seen in the video.
Any new updates do you still recommend
I still use it regularly. One note was the pinned comment on making sure you install the cable a certain way. The only thing I'm noticing is that isn't really that big of a deal (but I'm mindful about) is the middle of the unit where the top and bottom connect with screws like create a little space if say you hang on it with pull ups on the backside. It may just need occasional tightening of the screws, but I just don't do pull ups and or dips just in case of potential wear n tear. Otherwise everything is great.
Im 6'2"... Not sure how tall you are, but would this gym be suitable for my height? Thanks
Yes, I think so. I'm 6ft.
Did you have trouble with assembly. They originally failed to send me some screws and then when i got the screws, the side red frame arms at the bottom didnt allign with the holes. Im currently dealing with them to see how to resolve this issue. Ill update you guys...sad i still cant use the machine 😔
I had a few times where I just had things mixed up (one of the arms or legs was just in the wrong position) but otherwise everything else worked out.
Very Good Video 👍👍👍not in Germany😢
Thank you. Check out this new video I did. They are based out of the UK so Germany might be an option. ruclips.net/video/afyTJR92d80/видео.html
How much weight can this thing hold for exercises like squats? Is it 250 an arm or 250 in total?
I see what you mean based on their picture, I'm honestly not sure. I'd assume it's 250 a side. To be safe I'd email them on that one. For whatever its' worth, I'm never putting more than 135 on a side (don't even think I have yet either).
a much much better alternative to this and even the powertec, ATX is this: RAPT Leverage Functional Trainer by BRUTEforce® Australia. It has the unique quick lever release in the centre to allow you to start your squat at the top. Oh and also a proper pullup/chinup bar also.
How much weight does this toy hold. You got me curious bro
They’re saying 2055 pounds but I think they’re factoring in all the way on the storage handles as well
So an Overall coverage. Would be interesting to know how much the cables hold. This Thing plus x3 kinda bar and some Kind of freeweights Rack plus Bench would be a perfect Garage Gym. Maybe adding a Glute Ham machine. Btw U really are the only Solid Home Gym Channel. Im a Trainer myself building my Home Gym since a few years and you influenced me alot. I Hope you keep doing this especially on a Budget. Looking Forward seeing you using that badboy with some weights on it.
@@franzhulk2947 thank you so much brother. Means a lot coming from a fellow trainer. I’d love a glute ham machine as well. It’s a good struggle trying to wanting to keep mixing up / adding to the gym while still keeping it minimal and affordable. I don’t have it in my budget to be buying multiple barbells that are >$300 like some of the other guys.
@@hybridresistanceyou are welcome .. i feel you on that, have a lot 30mm weights but most levergym come with 50 (i Hope you metrics dont confuse u) having circa 150kg total in weight but cant use it propably, which is sad, so maybe selling that and reinvesting in 50mm weights. Glut Ham affordable, you could try and See If sqmize is sending into the US. It was 450€ for me. But its a Low one, since i wanted to be able to hip thust on it. Also good for Nordic curls
OMG!!! I LOVE IT
the better lever machine is this one - RAPT Leverage Functional Trainer by BRUTEforce. You can start your squat at the top - not at the bottom. They have a lever just for that.
I was looking at those, but pretty sure they weren't shipping to the US
@@hybridresistance Yeah - probably not. it also has a proper chin-up/pull up thing 'bar ?' thing on top of the pulldown cable function! It's definitely the better designed lever all in 1 machine.

Will they put this together for you?
Unfortunately no. There are companies I believe that will. Stay tuned to my channel tomorrow for a product that is similar.
