YOHANNA - "IS IT TRUE?" (2021) - JÓHANNA GUÐRÚN

"Is It True?" is the most famous and very probably also the most important song in Jóhanna Guðrún's long career as (one of) the best and most talented singers of Iceland.
Under her stage name Yohanna, she raised unexpected but truely deserved 218 points at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 16, 2009 in Moscow and thus she achieved an excellent 2nd place in the finals of the largest music event in the world. This is (next to Selma Björns' second place in 1999) the best result that Iceland has ever achieved in this competition. Especially when you consider that Yohanna won the semi-finals on May 12th with 174 points.
Because of this stunning performances, but also because of her sympathetic and yet very professional appearance between the TV shows in Moscow, Yohanna won a large number of new fans around the world, who have remained loyal to her to this day. For many of them, Yohanna is still nowadays the "winner of the hearts" of the Song Contest in Moscow and should have won the ESC 2009, to which I can wholeheartedly agree!
For me, "Is It True?" is certainly the most important song in my "career" as a huge, simply incurable fan of Iceland's Most Beautiful Voice! I guess, without this dreamlike ballad I would have never gotten to known something about a highly talented singer named Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir from the little town Hafnarfjörður in distant Iceland! And that - as I know today - would have made my life as a fan of good music a lot poorer...
