Neighbor complains to council "I really don't like that construction in backyard... ...There isn't 18 inches of vert and I wasn't invited! Doesn't he know I rode for the Zephyr team in 75? "
really cool. never realy thought about a pool coping miniramp, but it actually makes a lot of sense if you're not looking for long grinds i guess. I wonder how just the one extention will work out for you. cant wait to see more.
Dude your content has come a long way! Been here since a couple thousand subs and its so cool seeing your videos and the ramp and everything going on! Super inspiring!
I got a HUGE Quarter Pipe for Free on Facebook. It was pretty rotten in a few places. I transported it in a 15 ft trailer I have. It was hanging out, but I drove slow. I replaced the rotten boards & painted in Purple & it looks pretty good now. My father in laws camper was parked next to it & said that thing looks straight UP, I said I Agree. Within a week I could skate on it and I'm 56 yrs old....I thought there is No way I'll ever skate this, but I took baby steps & its easy now. I built a smaller quarter pipe that we use with it now, making a Half pipe...
Nice it looks beautiful!! One thing for next time of you ever do this again is spray it down with water for 2 or 3 days. Don't let it dry. Helps it not get cracks and chips further down the road. I did concrete for some time. The slower it cures the stronger it will be
Getting ready to build one of these for my kid and I. This is really a motivating video my man thanks for doing it right now when it'll help me get amped up over this project the most!
Hey Zack! Starting to get into some more DIY and wondering if you could make a video, short, or even reply/comment on some of your most useful tools or what you would recommend beginners who are just starting to get into DIY start with (I.e. a power drill, a hammer, a measuring tape, a finishing trowel, etc.) For instance, if we were to open your ideal "toolbox" when you were just starting out DIY stuff for both cement and wood, what would it include, and when and what for would you use each tool for? Thanks so much, man... you were the only person I thought to ask who might have an answer 🙏... so hopefully that demonstrates just how much you inspire me to get involved!
How did you place the coping on? I am curious. I have ten acres here and am wanting to turn my backyard, side yard and my three city blocks of front yard into a skateboard oasis 😊 And your wife must be awesome too! That's a keeper! Anytime you find a woman who is totally cool woth you being you, and permits you to be you, than you've found the ONE! ❤️
I absolutely love your videos and it has inspired me to clear my backyard to venture into building my own mini ramp/ skate area. One suggestion for this video. I would love to see measurements. Things like the curve of the transitions and the decisions for those etc. How many cubic yard of concrete did you need. dimensions of the ramp. height etc. All those details would be super helpful for others and also something i personally would be happy to do a Patreon donation etc for. Just like you do in some of your other DIY videos , you talk about using 10 bags of quikcrete etc.
zack, there is an indoor mini ramp spot by my house. they charge $50 a month for membership. worth it? I have been trying to learn the basics on a mini...
Rad! What's the transition radius? There's this new material called concrete canvas, which a cloth/ dry cement sandwich. It may have lightweight ramp potential. I've emailed the inventor of "flexible" concrete Dr. Li at Michigan but he hasn't got back to me yet. The point is, there's new technology and we skaters can use to innovate for the future. Traditional shotcrete on rebar, as you know, is no joke. Another source for transitions, and these things are always in the trash are trampolines. They tend to be 14' or 15' diameter, so about a 7' radius. The steel is well bent and galvanized. There are ties and different T fittings made for chainlink fencing, and they're all compatible. Either spend money or time, one or the other. No super easy way to do it. Well done, as always. Thanks for your comittment and stoke, brother Z.
Dude, a concrete mini is a huge commitment lol. Looking to buy a house in the next couple years, tbh I was just gonna go for a condo...as I don't mind condo living, but tbh..the more I think about it, and see videos like this, the more I want a decent skate setup at the crib...like a mini ramp, not just a small space to skate flat or a space in the driveway to skate a flatbar or box, no like something like this. This is so cool man, the ramp looks great and thanks for sharing.
Nice having your own ramps are awesome I grew up playing ice hockey I always wanted to build a hockey rink and now the house is empty next to me so I’m trying to buy it so I can build it. Fingers are crossed
Looks nice..have a cement miniramp here as well, goin 16yrs this year.. great investment if u really love sk8brdng that much..thou i miss a wooden one, hard to keep it in a tropical country like ours
Hey, great video! I’ve been curious if you have ever ridden a surfskate? I’d love to see a video on your experience with surfskates in transitions. 🤙🤙🤙
Winter in the UK sucks, so we built our own indoor mini this year and it’s the best thing we’ve ever done, even though I broke my arm after three weeks of riding it 😂
That's more or less on par with a timber ramp. My question is how does the pool coping grind with the gaps across the coping, would rendering it make a difference?
I am super curious about how the inside of this ramp works. It looks like you put the cement over the old ramp. Is it hollow in the center? Did you fill in the back? This is a project I've contemplated. I have a 2ft mini that's only 8ft wide and I'd love to take it up out to 12ft but for the cost of Gatorskins I almost may as well go cement and have less maintenance in the long run. I didn't know I could put cement on an old ramp. I figured I'd have to move a lot of dirt.
This is what im kind of curious about too. From what I've also done and heard leaving wood inside a concrete build isn't advisable. Beautiful build all in all!
Subscribe for more videos skating it!
Looks so good !
Amazing work! Looking forward to hearing if that questionable neighbor becomes an issue.
Neighbor complains to council "I really don't like that construction in backyard...

I'm so happy for you!! The build came out super clean, I hope its everything you hoped it would be and more ❤
Beautiful ramp bro I can't wait to see what tricks you come up with for it.
Zack Dowdy my question is how do you afford a house with a backyard in Oceanside. Can you release a tutorial on that
I've been waiting on this one for a while! Looks Killer! Keep Bringing The Heat! 👊🔥🤘
yessss it turned out amazing!! hyped on the permitting process going well and the recycling of the old frame, so stoked dowdy! 🖤
I was just about to type “get big Al on there soon!” When he popped up on screen. Can’t wait to see all the vids you guys create on this ramp. Woo!
really cool. never realy thought about a pool coping miniramp, but it actually makes a lot of sense if you're not looking for long grinds i guess.

another great video as always. we just built a concrete quarter in our backyard last weekend!
Getting ready to build one of these for my kid and I. This is really a motivating video my man thanks for doing it right now when it'll help me get amped up over this project the most!
6K isnt bad at all and came out great! my backyard costs 12ish!
Dude! Lucky! That's a dream of mine.
So stoked for you Zack!! Living the dream!
So dope to see! Thanks for showing us how it's done 🤙

how what are the dmiensions? how tall and long? im gonna build a mini pipe in my garage and this looks like the perfect size.
Who did you use for home insurance?
I’m in the process of building a cement half pipe.

I've been thinking about this project: is there a tax write-off since your RUclips business is skateboard related?
So nice to watch. Zack congrats man! Dream come true! 🎉❤
that is a thing of beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with the wooden ramp underneath, it's sort of like a stone coffin for a wooden half pipe
ramp looks so perfect, what are the dimensions?
I’m curious about the dimensions also.
Same! Dimensions please! Or let us know the height at least.
Super cool, but maybe just buy a house near a cool skatepark that has more features.
Thought you were doing a bowl?
Crk.
What type of plant did you use to paint the coping before saucing it up?
Fire🔥
this is my favorite content on youtube. makes me wish I had a house to build a halfpipe in the backyard.
Bro filmed the Mexicans doing his ram p this so corny
what are the dimensions of the concrete halfpipe?
Why concrete and not wood :) ? Great vid, thanks!
zack, there is an indoor mini ramp spot by my house. they charge $50 a month for membership. worth it? I have been trying to learn the basics on a mini...
Jus do it bru why ask someone else if it’s worth YOUR money. U know the answer within.
Now im looking at my backyard and wondering...
That's how the pros do it 💥🤙

I HAVE THE SAME OC RAMP. SO USING THE RAMP HELPED?
Ohhh well done!!!!
I wish i had a garden 🏡......

My dad's a building inspector and he wld def approve! Hell I know contractors that get less permits!
Hey, great video! I’ve been curious if you have ever ridden a surfskate? I’d love to see a video on your experience with surfskates in transitions. 🤙🤙🤙
Obviously worth every penny and all the time and labor. Most importantly it appears your wife understands and supports you.
Congratulations, that Ramp look absolutely Awesome. 🔥👍Thing is a real Dream ! 🙏👀😍
Now you need a cool graffiti on that thing)
Not a lot of friends to help with the work, but now that it's skateable? You gonna have too many friends! 🤘😆🤘❗
Great vid - sorry you had to travel to Lake Smells-some-more, but it was a free ramp...
Winter in the UK sucks, so we built our own indoor mini this year and it’s the best thing we’ve ever done, even though I broke my arm after three weeks of riding it 😂

Been debating whether I should build a wooden or concrete setup in my yard once I get my money up.
Concrete!
Stoked for ya man! It’s a dream of mine to have a concrete mini
Stoked for you! Looks really nice. 👊👍🔥
So stoked for you bro! Living the dream.
So hyped for you bro, looks incredible!💪🏼
Congratulations man!! You deserve it!!
So exited for you bro!
Damn dude a dream come true. Stoked for you!
Next level amazing! Can wait to see u riding it!
It's beautiful!
that looks incredible. do you have to worry about the wood rotting out from underneath? or is the rebar just strong enough to hold it all together
Most likely the wood was just a frame until it cures and would be torn away after construction, but what do I know.
Damn!
Looks dope brotha. Congrats!
MY FAV YT SKATER
Epic 👌
Did they end up sealing the concrete
Best thing to do! I have an indoor one and to seal it really did a lot. Smooth surface and less dust!
Looks sweet!!! Great video as always:)
Livin the dream man! Came out amazing!!
Been super antsy for this one
Nice miniramp ! Wait and see the session !
