Welcome to the second episode of Pete reacting to Brazilian guitarists!
As some of you know, Vinnie is Brazilian and Pete is American. Brazilian guitarists rarely get worldwide attention, so we thought it would be cool if Pete reacted to some of Vinnie's favourite homeland guitar heroes.
In this episode we have one of Brazil's best guitarists, Edu Ardanuy. What will Pete think of his incredibly exotic phrasing?

Fala Edu, provavelmente vc não lembrará disso mas eu te disse em Marabá (Pará) num workshop da Solez que se tivesse nascido na America ou Europa seria um artista de projeção mundial, seu talento transcendeu os limites nacionais certamenta mas são poucos os que tem acesso a sua discografia fora do Brasil. Continuo acreditando que não deveria ser um privilégio só nosso conhecer sua obra. Sucesso com a SINISTRA, Cheers.

O solo de "Isolated" (Dr. Sin) é um dos favoritos do próprio Edu e o de "Pain" (Dr. Sin) é um dos meus favoritos pelo feeling.

Pegar Dr.Sin, Brutal e Dr.Sin II só tem petardo, uma paulada atrás da outra e solos muitíssimo bem sacados!
Também considero o solo de Isolated um dos solos mais lindos de guitarra a nível internacional, sem exageros! Sempre me arrepio quando ouço.

Probably, Dr. Sin's 10 years anniversary album and Tritone project are the best compilations of this Brazilian guitar hero!

Edu Ardanuy is ONE of the most creative in the world and also is utterly out of ANY box, this video probably was recorded more than 20 years ago, and believe me, he´s even better than ever. Please, have a look at the SINISTRA band, his new band.

Hey guys nice video! About Tagima guitars, the Tagima still lives, but his main creator(Seizi Tagima) doesn't work with Tagima brand since the 90"s, he start his new guitar factory called Seizi(his first name). So that's it, there is Tagima and Seizi now.
Much like what happened when Leo Fender sold the company and the name/brand, then created Music Man and then G&L, being L from Leo.

Frank Solari é um dos melhores dessa geração do Edu Ardanuy, ele tinha 21 anos quando gravou o primeiro CD, e um ano antes gravou uma demo tape em Los Angeles, e também foi o primeiro guitarrista brasileiro a aparecer na coluna de novos talentos da revista Guitar Player americana. Acho os discos dele fantásticos, bem musicais, técnica afiada e excelente feeling.

The second video is an improv over the chord changes of Metal Fatigue, an Allan Holdsworth composition. He even starts the solo with the same phrase that Allan plays in the original recording. Very cool.

Edu ardanuy is a legend here in brazil. By the way im brazilian too. I had the pleasure to meet him in the airport in 2007 on 17th of november when i was going to liverpool and he was with his band over that time Dr. Sin, they were going to play a gig in mexico. Anyways, he is a fucking great guitarist. Thats it guys. Im just enjoying you videos here. Nice catching up with you guys here.

Hey guys, love the reaction to Ardanuy and his unusual picking technique. I looked at comments to see if anyone mentioned this technique as "circle picking" and didn't see one, but did see that Edu broke his hand and had to learn to pick this way with a cast on. The Japanese have used this technique for years and Takayoshi Ohmura is known for it as well as the late Mikio Fujioka. Picking speed can be dramatically increased if you can master this technique. Hi guys, really excellent video. I am British and live in São Paulo - there are so many amazing guitarists here, some of who I know. You may also want to check out Brazilian female guitarist Bruna Tsuruda who is still young and not that well known outside of the country but who has just released her first single as part of her all-female rock band Malvada.

@@TheSolbiatii I agree with you, maybe cause Dr Sin aren't famous globally, just in certain countries... and there's lots of high-technique professionals that aren't recognized as they deserve because of the mainstream. Becoming world-wide famous demands reaching the mainstream, not exactly ultra high technique and talent.

I see Steve Morse, Malmsteen, Jeff Beck and Satriani and hes on style, he's a monster! Best brazilian guitar player !
I think the different picks techniques is also inspired by these 4 guitar players, specifically Steve Morse. One of the things that can make a unique style and personality of a guitar player is the way tha he picks, the songs he can produce and take of hes guitar with the pickup technique!
Yes agreed Ardanuy is a huge mixture of so many of the greats of guitar, and he really is one himself! And yes we don't think we've ever seen such a unique picking style as his. Although Marty Friedman comes close 😆

Edu is a Brazilian jewel. I had the luck of seeing him playing live sometimes (including an opening for Malmsteen) and was always amazing.
