Buck Shelford to me is the best number 8 to ever wear the All Black Jersey along with Zinzan Brook. The Cavaliar Tourists never copped as bad as punishment as the Australian cricketers at the time for Touring South Africa.
It's because of buck why the all blacks have such a great legacy he set the standards and every all black that came after him also left their legacy when they retired and every present all black today are also going to leave behind their legacy for the next generation of legacies that's why the all blacks are so great in this sport no other country comes close to the achievements of the ALL BLACKS.
And to this DAY - I still believe that 91' World Cup would've been ours had we not let BUCK go...….his presence alone made TEAMS shiver and buckle under his stare - he had that aura about him and no mess around......ask ANYONE - he should've been the Captain right through to 92/93 and than FItzy could've taken over from there after a few more years under BUCKS wing......ABS woudlve been more stauncer and harder come 95' and JONAH would've been well tuned by then under BUCKS tutoring :) True What IF story lol...……..Love ya BUCK :) Thanks for everything you have done for NZ rugby - you changed the GAME as well as bring PRIDE back to our beloved HAKA :) Peace and Good Health :)

As someone who wasn't alive when he's playing its interesting to see that even when he was winning convincingly with all blacks there were still factions that didn't want him there so there was obviously a group of people that didn't like him and that seems to of spilled over into the all black environment.

Agree. Recently, Buck revealed that the Aucklanders in the ABs camp got him out of the ABs. Grizz was under a lot of pressure
