  • A Spirit Walk celebrates its 25th year this year, 2022! After a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this popular annual play returns to to the outdoor stage. Enjoy a sneak peek of the Town Hall Meeting Scene, where tensions among the the backwoods farmers of Pickering Township and throughout the young province are mounting.
This original play tells the story of the slow change from the optimism of early settlers seeking refuge from the American Revolutionary War to the seeds of frustration, and finally to armed rebellion in 1837. Pickering sent the largest contingent of rebels, under the leadership of local farmer Peter Matthews. You'll learn of his tragic fate as his widow, Hannah, narrates and leads you through the play.
