My goodness! the 1870s were as colorful and over the top as the 1970s, or indeed the 1770s. Such brilliant and bright colours, it's like dessert in clothing form.

I feel you on the costumes. When I saw little women, I was immediately aware that they weren't wearing stays because of their posture. Anyone who's worn stays knows that slouching is extremely difficult and painful. I took Bridgerton to be historical fantasy and I didn't judge it as a period piece I didn't really care too much about it and just enjoyed the experience. I did know that there were black or mixed wealthy people from Jamaica mixing in circles in the regency and post regency era. I think people like to forget that slavery and freedom were far more about Social class than skin colour. Not to delve into the political, but to reflect the facts of thr time, US vice president Kamala Harris's paternal side were black slave owners in Jamaica in the early Victorian era and had substantial wealth and status. The lines just weren't as hard and fast as we perceive them to be nowadays, and I'm glad that that was reflected in the series.

Elegant shawl falls were quite popular throughout the Victorian era. My great-great grandmother had sewn hers in with pleats because she was always a cheater when it came to looking like a lady. 😅 she bought brown buckskin boots because they were cheaper and scrubbed them with lime to lighten them to white as well.

Loved this! Loved class trips to these kind of places when I was a kid, and I've visited Colonial Williamsburg years ago. You might add some SEO terms like historic shawls, vintage shawls, Colonial clothing. The reason I mention that is because I actually passed over this video a couple of times when I was looking for Sontag patterns. It wasn't clear to me from the video title that you would be modeling historic costumes. Sontag, by the way, is not a good search term. Apparently not a lot of people use it. Anyway, I can totally understand you enjoying your job. Love history. Love Outlander.
