I couldn't put it down. Simply because it's an extremely well written, entertaining, poetic, funny, tragic, adventure. The book celebrates British culture, is beautifully descriptive, historically informative and generally a great read. I didn't expect to enjoy it at all. Biographies can be boring. This one is not boring. Kudos to Harry and his team for crafting a decent read. For me it's not about being a Harry fan or a Harry hater, it's about the pleasure of reading a well written book. I 'm really interested in British culture and history. I loved the humour. I didn't feel sad for Harry. He is most certainly a survivor. And quite the entertainer.

I feel sad for Harry. I see myself in his struggles as someone who broke ties with my family because of extensive abuse and neglect. I can't imagine going through it in the public eye having a mobb of royalist and press berate your every move. They act like Harry and Meghan destroyed the family/ "the firm" but others has done that already with horrendous actions * cough * Andrew * cough *. Harry and Meghan seem like okey people that just want to save their image and are desperate to have their voices heard though all the hate.

I agree the audio book read by Harry adds authenticity and emotional depth to the book. Poor dude has been living in a real life truman show. He reveals many new nuggets that put him in a compromised position with mainstream society - morally and legally - and that is why I believe his account - It reads like a candid therapy session.
Tactically, it is a classic scooping the scoop - drop the bombs yourself so the media can't scoop you. I was proud of Rebel Wilson scooping the scoop on dipshit "journalists" (gossip mongers), and I applaud harry for doing the same. F#@k the tabloids and the royal machine.

There was nothing alarming about sharing the lip gloss it's not as if Meghan tried to kiss Kate on the lips, whilst others may beg to differ many people in this world share their lip gloss. What I found disturbing is the fact that Kate had the audacity to bully Meghan about the flower girl's dresses a few DAYS before HER wedding compounded with the drama Meghan's dad was causing. Where was the sister inlaw sympathy that Meghan so desperately needed? That was quite cruel of Kate to demand the dresses be remade again!!! If it wasn't for the revealed text transcript of their conversation, I would have said Meghan was lying. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not infallible, but I have to conclude that I can see why the literally fled from the UK

Now, I'm American and my knowledge of the royal family ends at knowing the queens name. I found Harry's story so fascinating that I was wondering what British people thought of it. The only things I see online are 'whiney privileged harry' but I didn't feel like that's what I read. I think by this age he should have grown up. Few people have an ideal childhood and many more had traumatic childhoods. He certainly didn't suffer homelessness, nor hunger, nor a caring father, and nannies. He is just self-indulgent. He was happy when William got married and he adored Catherine because she is loving. He had more than more people ever have but unless he gets everything he wants it's not good enough. He wanted Catherine but he couldn't have her so when he connected with Pinocchio, he turned to hating her and Pinocchio was jealous of Catherine and encouraged it.

I, too, thought Spare would be way more explosive and revealing family secrets but it is absolutely not. The first part was interesting and I loved that Harry has a reflective mindset processing and is willing to learn. The second part was a bit boring. The military “career” in which he was barely allowed to do anything didn’t give me much but I understand this part was essential to shape his causes and ultimately led to the Invictus Games. The third part was odd and overly dramatic. “Fleeing my country” honestly gimme a break, so many refugees walk bare feet across continents without food and water and there’s him sitting on a private plane free to jet off wherever he pleases and then using dramatic language like this just really pissed me of.
