Random question: were your surface pattern design skills helped by any math class? We had to study “tessellation” in college geometry and maybe it’s about repeating patterns in the same way?
That’s a great question! I’ve always been super math driven as well as creatively driven so it may have an unintentional effect on the way I think about them. And it depends on the type of print! But photoshop has come a long way and their print repeat tool has been super easy to play around with the prints in.
I'm not an artistic type myself, but there's something very calming in watching someone paint.

Where I live, it’s mostly milkweed that monarch like (spent several hours last year building monarch habitats!)
