Thanks! I would love too see more short informative videos like this. Livestreams are fun when viewing live but hard to find info in then after the fact.
Great idea - here's mine - I did 'Star Wars Day' and it was good: - (Wipe effect) - (Color Palette: Fx Blue, Bg Black, 3 Green) - select (* colors only) - (Speed 90 - intensity 100) - Blue and Green lightsabers⚔
@@DrZzs Thank You - I'm a long time lurker since, you put out the video of you and your son putting up WLED lights for a friend, I have now got the bug - finally got to put lights across all my eaves in December, and at last count (Christmas) now have 3653 pixels 😄(I'm using WLED with x-lights kicked off with a Big Red button) - so pretty unusual for the UK - so a Big thank you, to you 👏- I would never have achieved it without your help.
My Christmas preset last year was Candy Cane. This year I've changed it to a playlist, cycling among chase 2 red/white (aka candy cane), chase 2 red/green, and fairytwinkle with the default colors. Ten minutes of each. Looking forward to trying out some of these.
These are so awesome! Thanks for all your hard work putting these and all your videos together. Just got my lights all set up for the first time and excited to play aeound with presets. Hopefully there are more to come because these are all awesome! Thanks again for all your guidance in your videos. I'm new to all of this and super excited to get this up and running before Christmas! Thanks again!!!!
Nice video. Good idea to share presets ! I have a question. I see that you can preview the effects on your WLED Web UI. How did you achieve this ? I'm interested because when modifying some settings, I have to move where the strip is and come back to my desk and so on... Have a nive day !
For Fall/Thanksgiving I like using the Fairytwinkle effect and choose the pre-configured "Fire" color setting. It's a very pleasing red/orange/offwhite for sort of a "harvest" theme.
WLED removed the Halloween preset WTF man why they keep removing presets on every updates. They stated it was recreated with CHASE 2, but doesn't even come closes. Anyone know what the effect code it for the old Halloween effect?
One thing, those {"stop":0} comments are important when changing from a preset with multiple segments to one with only segment 0. Without them, the additional segments don't get overwritten, so the preset with only segment 0 might not display correctly.
where can i find help my lights i am using a nodemcu to control about 400 lights on my house and i had it all working good the last 2 year but this year when i turned it on only a few of my lights turn on i checked the gpio pin and im only getting .5v do i just need to replace the nodemcu? what might cause this? i added a level converter and now its only .1v and nothing works.
Hey I have no idea how to have the sweep effect turn on from one end to the other but just stop stay lit instead of sweeping from the opposite end like it usually does. I just want it to sweep one direction and stay lit with no effect until I turn it off and on again. I've tried looking at forums but the stuff they talk about goes way over my head.
Hi! I loved the video. I'm wondering if there is a wled simulator webpage? It would be great to test effects and presets on computer without mess a controller 😊
there kinda is: kno.wled.ge/features/effects/ It shows what the effects look like and it lets you know what you can change about them. It isn't really a simulator though.
** Thinking about the extension to HyperHDR over UDP to WLED. Used Relay usermode and a preset for PIR. Need to test UDP response when PIR/microwave sensor is triggered.
Hey DrZzs! I have a problem with my DigUno and was wondering who, and how, I should contact to troubleshoot and see if it's a warranty issue or not. Being in Canada I had to order from Quindor's store, but timezones favor dealing with you. Your thoughts would be appreciated! I should also mention that I haven't had the best of luck getting responses in the Discord.
Hi DrZzs, do you know if there is an easy way to change blocks of colour through a length of LED's ? I want to light multiple steps (38leds each) to be different colours and change colours.
Does the Easter preset work for anyone else? The json breaks my WLED and wiped all my previous presets... luckily it gave me a json of the last known good... but I was wondering if it worked for anyone else or if it did the same thing to others. I'd love to see what the present looks like, but not if it causes chaos.
i had made a 30 led adrunio 2812 clock, got a 8266 wifi board from some hobiest with the wled sketch already in it, i double confirmed the led flow path before ordering it, & it was exactly the same as i had made now the clock works with all the possible colors & effects of wled from my mobile, how did they integrate the clock & access point progam in it , i wanted to learn more of this.
Sounds awesome! You should join our discord channel there will be a lot more people there that can answer questions like this! It's just really hard to troubleshoot over comments.
I live remotely, I have a very weak WIFI I wish to light a 5' star outside what do I need I have a Nod MCU, a 12 v power supply size appropriate, how do I make them work?
It's really difficult to troubleshoot in the comments section. If you join my discord server there will be a lot of people that will be able to help answer your questions and faster!
I wholeheartedly agree that this is a good idea. The most annoying thing I have come across with FOSS is the secretive nature of the communities associated with each application, or the "I had to learn it, so you have to learn it" attitude of said communities. Using WLED and Klipper as specific examples, when someone without a lot of technical knowledge wants to implement one of these two programs, the common reaction from the community is "RTFM" and that's it. They discovered WLED and want the same things in their home that you or I would have in our home with WLED, but when they ask how they can make it work and get pushed to RTFM without any additional assistance that helps the concepts in TFM make sense to their non-technical brains that sends them off to buy GOVEE and screw those WLED guys. To be fair, the Klipper community is much worse with this behavior than WLED, but there is absolutely no reason to silo simple knowledge like this off from everyone else. Give people examples and they will learn. New people will come along, and the ones who learned will teach. The cycle repeats. Thanks for being awesome as always!
Just had to replace LED number 4 in a segment... (which caused all the LED's afterwards to not light up). Have not used WLED in a while. Upon power up for the first time since last Christmas; the Candy Cane effect did not work. I updated to the latest version and Candy Cane is still broken. Just a solid line. The line of code seems correct... so strange.
That is strange. The best place to troubleshoot this sort of stuff is in the discord channel. There are lots of people that are REALLY smart there! It's just really hard to troubleshoot this sort of stuff over comments.
@@DrZzs Hey thanks for replying! Sorry I failed to give an update on this last night. I figured out what was going on. I first reviewed the change log between Firmware versions and found that the effect candy cane was removed since under V0.14 since it can be achieved under an effect called “Chase 2".. Now, because of this in the JSON, the effect has a different "fx number". The old Candy Cane was "fx":114,".... Chase 2 is "fx":37,". Once I figured this out, I updated my saved presets that had Candy Cane somewhere in them and things instantly worked as they should! Most importantly, I am so happy my American Flag preset is working again. Because of this my red/white moving stripes via the Candy Cane effect were all broken. So I could not run my lights this past Memorial Day or for 9/11. Glad to be back up and running.
@@DrZzs sorry , but I did not get what I should change. For now, I have WLED 0.14 firmware, and your file did not work from github. In "presets tab" I have a phrase that the preset could not be loaded and it is not deleted in any way. Can you help somehow?

This was extremely helpful to get started! Now I don't have to stress about what to put up while tweaking my own presets. Thank you!
This video highlights one of the next great challenges facing WLED - Ease of use. Any UX gurus out there want to help out here?

On the web UI, up at the top where it says power, timer, etc. there is a button called Peek. Click that. That will give you the preview function.

That's a great idea! Fairytwinkle is one of my favorite ones. It has such a nice and peace nature about it.
I use it with the "autumn" palette.
Thank you. This is very helpful and makes it easier to understand how to add / create presets. 👍
I'm glad this helped! Thanks for watching and commenting!
With Halloween coming up, I would love to see your preset for Halloween!
I used Chase3 with orange, green and purple.

It was Case2 with purple and orange. Same with candycane. It’s just chase2 with white and red.
Great idea! Just started playing with the dig-quad and this helps so much!! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
do you have any halloween presets?
This was great. Honestly I have no design skills, so using others shared presets is awesome. I just want more now!
I believe solderseal makes 'T's, otherwise just solder and shrink tube+tape.

How do you get the WLED interface on your computer to see easier and make changes? Hope someone can post a DIY to do this.

Other than using the peek function, no. It’s also very difficult to virtualize an esp32/8266 binary.

Just got my dig quad and having a problem with your video when you say go to "EDIT". Where is the edit command in wled?
It’s not a command. You just add /edit to the end of the IP address
Great idea! Thanks 🙏

The presets are great! Thank you! Does anyone have a preset for a warm white color? My white looks blue.
Unless you have rgbww or rgbw lights you're not going to get pure whites. Right now white is being created with r g b all on to make white.
It's your led's, or your power, or something OTHER than software.
Yes please

Yeah. Not a fan of communities that aren't willing to lend a helping hand!
Does anyone have a Preset for India’s flag colors: Orange, white and green?
Why haven't more people pasted their own presets to share? 🤷🏽♂️
