I commend you on the job you did. It's not over the top and seems very original. I have been working on my 914 for 4 years. Hope I can finish it this winter.
Greetings from California! Congratulations on a job well done! These are wonderful driving automobiles, especially when you have had your hands on every nut and bolt. You must be very happy and should be very proud! My dad and I restored two 914's back in the 1990's. I still have his and I am currently restoring another. Both are 1974 2.0. Have fun and enjoy!
Thank you for saving another 914. 😀 Always loved that loud 70s color. I did noticed you replaced the speedometer; was this to change to km/hr? Your 1974 914 didn't come with a silver button speedo. Enjoy! Great all around cars; roomy, fun, targa, mid-engine, etc. I have put more than 250K on mine. They love to cruise at 70 mph.
Thank you! Yeah we changed the speedometer to a km/hr one. It originally came with a silver button miles/hr speedometer. We are located in Europe so we wanted to change it.
Great Work gentleman. i working on my own 914 in Canada and I am wondering where you found the Dash cover? It looks Great. Amy wher eyou got parts would be appreciated.
Beautiful work mates! The panel gaps on the front hood look much larger than the rest of them. Can you comment on this? Was this car in a front end collision? Did you fit the hood prior to paint?
@@davidrumbalski1029 It is a hood from a different 914 so maybe that is why. We also once read on a forum that some 914’s have this fitment issue. We couldn’t do much about it.
Nice job, but the Talbot mirror and body colored trunk hinges are a bit "ouch". Some of those parts such as the horn grilles are simply unobtainable. I also think you did an amazing job on the bumper chrome.
@@ptrsyt good data point, thank you. I have an original 1970 914-6 with black trunk hinges. IDK if that's because of the year or what, but that's how it came from Porsche. The rear brake calipers, and the foil stickers on the steering wheel cowl are totally unobtainable. I bought probably the last 914-6 fuel pump and Marelli distributor - until Porsche makes more anyway.
Umm I hate to tell you this but I think that yellow is not stock, that's a mopar color, that is Curious yellow I think, as its like this nuclear green they had back then, also get yourself a copy of the 1972 may issue of road and track, and read the article on page 68 about the 914 and the problems and fixes he had, that way you know what your getting into, and what to sort out granted yours is a latter car and hopefully has the problems worked out, as they redid the gearbox and a bunch of little things in late 72
@@Wheels.Reborn Oh i'll be damn, I thought that was aftermarket, as it looks like the same color they had homers muscle car in from the simpsons lol also when you get that magazine article, make sure to note what he says in the first paragraph about the damn cut off problem he had they all did that, and it did it to my dad twice,
The weather seal rubbers of the trunk etc. are not meant to be glued! They are pressed in only. Glue traps the rain instead of letting it flow down and out, causing rust. Also the badge is not original to the 914. it was aftermarket only. Excellent job otherwise!!!
@@michaelctanner how was it attached by the factory then, as they all seemed to rot out, and you would think doing it not like the factory there would be a plus, unless its just supposed to be grease and press fitted
Perfect!

Great work guys, you've done a wonderful restoration on the car. It's a beautiful colour and looks just spectacular. Enjoy!
Beautiful
That was a super restoration! And that Ravena green! Plus the video work and editing were great too!

Hette en zonen, hartstikke mooi project met een mooi resultaat, maar dat wist ik al. 👌Ook professioneel op film gezet.
Wow! Excellent production and documentation. What is the performance improvement with the turbo steering rack?
Thank you. The steering is more agile than it was before, this gives a more sporty drive experience.
Super! Ben bezig met mijn eigen 914 in Olympic blue…
mooi gedaan, complimenten, heel veel rijplezier toegewenst
Fantastic work ! What size motor?

Very nice work! Ravenna green is one of the fn Skittles colors. Any thoughts on putting on an original side mirror?
Thank you. We thought of it, but we liked the torpedo mirror a little bit more.
Should have made it a 914-6

FYI the trunk hinges were body colored from the factory. It is correct the way they did it.
