@@AnnesiBindings I do laugh at the term "PerfectBound", because looking at my disintegrating paperback with cheap acid-paper, it seems far less than perfect. 😊 I'm pondering over what to do... if I were to put a strip of cloth or paper down the spine and glue it in place, it will then make the text-block too wide for the existing paperback cover. Hence, the pages will be protruding beyond it. What can I do about that? Thanks.
Thank you for patiently showing each step. As a beginner, I appreciate being able to follow you because your instructions are so clear. Also, you have a very calm voice and best of all, you don't play any background music! What a relief!
I bound my first book using this technique, it works very well. I used a bit too much glue sticking the front and back end sheets to the cover, this caused some rippling, but generally was really pleased with the result. Thanks again
Thank you so much for sharing this useful information! I’m planning on bookbinding some old class notes and books from previous years in college so I can eventually find something I forgot. This is gonna make them look so much nicer at a relative low cost. I’ll make sure to watch your other videos on the subject to get all the other details left out! Thanks again!
Thank you for such a nice video, full of all the necessary information. I want to play with using up some note block paper I have where folding it isn’t really possible. It is lovely to see the method without lots of waffle or using unnecessary equipment.
Thank you! I have tried this binding before but it comes out looking and functioning horribly. This is the best instructional video I have seen. I spotted where I was doing it wrong.
Tip, place yor clamps one third of the distance from each end and tighten. Doing this means that the pressure exerted by the clamps is equal across the entire length of the pages to be glued. Tip never whip glued items end to end. Always wipe from the middle to the end using a diagonal movement. This method ensures that all air is removed from under the material being glued.
Thank you. this video is very educating and explains everying I need to know about binding my own Heritage research for safekeeping. Just what I was looking for to complete my home project.
Howzit, thank you for sharing! I wonder if you have advice regarding paperback reading books? I have several books +- 50 years old. ( paperback story books) The front/back pages are coming loose..not the cover although some are quite flimsy! Is There someway to repair these pages? I don't want to use tape. Cheers🌻
First of all, thank you very for sharing your tecnique with us. However would you or someone be able to say where I can get Wibalin paper from ? I have a pile of files printed and I would like to bind it. Thank you
I love your videos, do you explain so well. I want to start a handmade notebook business, do you recommend me use this lumbeck method o I should use a sewing method?
Hello! I was really encouraged to see that you're reading a commentary on St. Dionyisus the Aeropagite. Do you know where I can find the pdf file for that book?
Thanks, and my apologies for not replying sooner! It is Wibalin that I got from this link. The only details I can find are that it is 185mics. www.graphica.co.za/index.php/products/
Hello,Should I use this method for thick books or should I stick to stitching them. The book is just for reading purposes.Pls guide me.By the way great video.
You can use it for thicker books (although if you have the option to stitch them that is always better, especially if they'll be used a lot). However, for a thicker book it might be a good idea to add an Oxford hollow to give extra strength. ruclips.net/video/YFn881MYiEo/видео.html
My apologies for not replying earlier! I am using PVA glue. I discuss the type of glue in more detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/cnn1zwjzkbc/видео.html
@@AnnesiBindings Glad to see your reply, simply such comments hardly come to our sights so u dont need to be sorry here. And thanks for letting me know. 👍
I'm curious why you made the spine board width of the spine +4mm? I've always been told width of the spine + 1/2 the thickness of the boards (or 1 board thickness). Also I love your paste paper! It is very lovely.
Thank you! The measurements were ones I had worked out for this specific project, and I confess that I usually just go by my instinctive feel. But giving a formula like yours would probably have been better as people may have different board thicknesses.
Hello ! In this case is it good idea to make signatures from separate pages with connection strip tissue paper and paste two separate pages in one folio ?
Apologies for not replying sooner! You certainly do that, but then it would be a different kind of binding. Also, something like that would be more suited to a book with not too many pages and thicker paper. If you did it with many thinnish pages, it would lead to thickening at the spine (and be a lot of work!).
Not only are your tutorials amazing, but your voice is SOOOO soothing!!!!
I agree🙂
Ma'am, I like your videos, not only for the high quality of your content, but you don't have annoying music playing in the background.
Thank you! I'm pleased they are helpful!

As much as I am impressed by the tutorial, I am equally impressed by the book choice!

Would you recommend this method for books that are thicker, as in 300-500 pages?
