I agree VW Darin has help us all .I .built a motor I was planning to put in my 67 bus. I could not understand why the cam fit so tight..saw his video on cams followed his practice wow turned so smooth and easy. He is a wealth of VW info so glad he is sharing it with all of us. Thanks for what you share too EZGZ
Thanks EzGz for all of your videos. Just like VWDarrin, you give us nuggets that enhance Darrin's. I love your honesty and positive spirit. It is hard to find genuine people to learn from. keep it up!! Bryan
I don't own a vw engine yet but i enjoy watching all yours and vwdarin's vw related video's You are both sharing a lifetime's worth of knowledge from two different perspectives. I love hearing about your driving the dunes. Its such a young mans game and im not feeling that young anymore. Id love to get back into the dunes maybe with a vw.
+builtrodewreckedit Thanks for your loyalty and friendship. It is hard for me to talk about those old sand days without getting the itch to do it again. VW engines are so dereable and there is a lot of room for error IMHO. You will manifest one if you keep thinking about it.
I like the stock german steel lifters reground. I have had many of the other after market ones fail. especially the ones with the holes. stock springs work fine it all depends on how many rpms you are revving I never run my vw engine over 6800. but usually not even that high anyway.
Your running a lot more cam and a lot heavier springs to see those kind of RPMs. I like something that run's all day at under 5k and gets fair mileage.
It does help if you can lighten the lifter in theory...IF the lighter lifter were just as robust as the heavier/denser lifter (BUT the same could be said of the pushrod, which you so eloquently explained deforms at much higher rpm's) which is why the heavier/denser lifter is required if building a performance engine and running at hog rpm.
dear Ezgz, great lesson! it makes perfect sense... I'm going to watch your video about springs; I really like this subject. are you considering making a video about the cam's specs? cheers!
Thank you EZGZ for all your videos and sage advice. I'm beetle shopping at the moment. I drove my friends in high school and have always wanted a classic beetle. Thank you again!
+Ian McClendon I hated Volkswagens in HS. Especially Buss's. I was almost 40 when I got my first ride in VW sand car and that was the game changer. We were always wrenching and trying to make our cars lighter and faster. I accumulated enough parts to get a bug together to drive back and forth to work. Had one ever since.
Holly crap so much to think about, So glad you made this video.Thank you for pointing this out, Can you please do a video on how to lighting the lifters or have you already done one for this?
morning EZ. I have an Erson Cam. Have you ever heard of them? It's an Erson H1V2 with .350 valve lift, .006 valve lash, 290 duration, .320 cam lift, 107 lobe center. Do you know what Engle it would be close to?
+chris hormachea That's is an old name. Kinda like Isky Engle has a online catolog. If I were you I would look there in the VW section. Thanks for watching and commenting
Good video, thanks for sharing. What were those last pushrods? I've seen some HD aluminium rods on sale, about 2x the CroMo rod prices. Are they worth paying extra for?
No I do not but not a bad idea ether. Never really felt or saw anything that looked like trouble. I will try and remember to have a closer look next time. Thanks for the heads up. Always more to learn.
It increases Horsepower and Torque and when using a performance cams allows it to idle smoother than stock if you use the Dual throat carbs on both sides. Port on Port baby. It;s the only way to fly.

+Bryan Boyle It's because of comments from people like you. I try to do my part and demonstrate my personal experience.
This is why ur so awesome man! I BEEN trying to figure why I'm addicted to vw and you've explained it
I appreciate that!

Ezzgz always a pleasure watching your vids, second or third on this one, cheers thanks for the nuggets ,
The pleasure is all mine. Glad to have you here
Great video... aircooled community is full of great people..
Thanks. I agree that we have a lot of wonderful folks in the VW community
TheEZGZ what do you think about engle w120 with 1.25 rockers in a 2276? Heads are wedge ports 44x37.5 with 650 springs. Chromoly push rods

I don't lighten lifters. I just put on heavier springs and run expensive oil.
flower pattern adds at least three horsepower.
What are the numbers of those cams !
Still digging the tech talk GZ.
+Greg's Garage Thanks for checking in G :-)
Nice points, if you want to make HP and it not beet itself apart. You need to pay attention to the details. Thanks EZ
+Rusty “rustyglovebox” Glovebox I'm afraid when I get done I will say:
I could have had a V8 daaaaaahhhh

+Jon Laws I bought these because they were cheap and I thought I would give them a try. carcraftstore.com/mantonpushrods.aspx
Enjoy the video's, and what Engle cam did you buy and who from?
Engel FK7 with new lifter. Can run it with or without ratio rockers. You can buy them all over. Try Car Craft VW
EZGZ
Do you deburr the edges of the lobes on cams? If so, how do you do it? Waiting for the video. Thanks
No I do not but not a bad idea ether. Never really felt or saw anything that looked like trouble. I will try and remember to have a closer look next time. Thanks for the heads up. Always more to learn.
TheEZGZ what all do i need to buy to install a 110 cam in my bug? Im asking everybody but im not getting a solid response. Hope you can help out
So sorry mate,My fault miss understood what you meant about lighting lifters 👍.
what do daul carbs do ? do they increas horse power? torque? or are they just for looks
It increases Horsepower and Torque and when using a performance cams allows it to idle smoother than stock if you use the Dual throat carbs on both sides. Port on Port baby. It;s the only way to fly.
TheEZGZ thanks because im trying to fly appropriately
heeeeelp, how much torque (lb / ft) are the bolts
20-24 lbs. or Goodntight or 1 grunt. Your choice. Hope ya got the right bolts.....
@@TheEZGZ thanks
Cool
+wtbm123 :-)
Weight them. The engine doesn't like a heavy valve train.
True
smart man good video
