When I see Tyler playing Baba is You all I can think is how the devs are just having fun adding simple programming functions, while making the puzzles way more complex than before Baba is You is OOP at its shiniest
Fun part of mimic though is that it's only a single layer deep, since mimic doesn't mimic mimic'd attributes, unlike programming inheritance where grandchildren inherit their grandparents
I solved "Pay Attention" a little differently -- After turning the Walls into Skulls, then I made "SKULL MIMIC BABA," which caused all the Skulls to vanish, because they became "YOU" and "DEFEAT" at the same time.
Oh, it could work as a super-idle! As long as the statement isn't broken, it becomes true forever when you wait! Unlike idle which toggles back to false when you take action since, you know, if e.g. 'baba is eventually hot', all you need to do for baba to become hot is wait for it
I wanna see something like a Yoda block (with a background, so it's a state - like you, push, stop, etc) Then you could make sentences in a different order You Baba Is Instead of Entity - Connector - state/entity (Baba is You, Keke fear Wall, etc) You could also make state/entity - Entity - Connector But only when Entity is stated as being Yoda Hungry Baba is
On the idle moon is win level, why did you have to get on top of the moon to win? All of the other idle uses didn't require you to be anywhere near the items being used lol
If I’m remembering correctly, an object having the “win” attribute just means that if you are on that object, then you complete the level. Idling when not on the moon would be like sitting in a room where flag is win without actually going over to the flag
Day 11 of recommending Perspective for Tyler to play. I'm loving the Baba content and I know this will probably be the bulk of the channel for a while, but if you ever want a break Perspective is one of my favorite puzzle platformers from when I was in high school. It would be a lot harder to do things in the game if strict adherence to English grammar was required. Imagine writing LAVA WILL SINK rather than LAVA IS SINK. Or BABA MIMICS FLAG rather than BABA MIMIC FLAG. It seems that, while "IS" was chosen over "ARE", verbs don't include the suffix "-s". And this game probably confirms more to English grammar than most programming languages, which use brackets and operators that don't consist of letters way more than English. Baba Is You doesn't use any brackets, and all its operators are words. There are very few non-alphabetic characters, but they occur in YOU2 and DOOR2.
