- G'day guys, I've taken a step outside my comfort zone and bought a big glider. A 2540mm Lanyu/Volantex/Hobbyking ASW28 Glider. I have been looking at this glider for a fair amount of time and when the Hobbyking May Day Sales were on, I could not resist! I did also grab an EFX Racer, so that will be coming up soon too.
This is a huge model, but really not that bad to assemble. Sorry that the vid is a little long.
Maiden flight video is coming up soon and it was not without some excitement!

Thanks for the pointers!
Great Job, Looking forward to the maiden flight video - will be interested to see how the RTH works in a glider, assuming its not powered on return !!
Peter Frank Cheers Pete, maidened and once I actually connected the stabiliser/RTH the right way, it all worked a treat! I have the power set on fail-safe (out of range), but I tested it no power too and the glider just works its way back and circles about.
I just built the V2 version this morning. It uses simple self locking snap locks on the wings an no need to fumble with screws to lock on the wings.
Oh yeas, I've seen the new wing connectors, they are a lot easier looking than the screwed set-up on this one. I might even try to modify mine to become similar to the clip in style of the new version. Cheers Michael
any video?
Good stuff Mike! Looking forward to the flight video. :)
RCWASPOVISION Soon, very soon. It was not without some excitement.
Michael Downie Ha ha! Sounds like my day Mike!
RCWASPOVISION OH! How did you go with the BGL?
Michael Downie Yeah, it worked great! Not sure I had the best plane to test it out on though. (My mates crashed Bixler.) He was saying it was tail heavy but it was actually quite nose heavy when I tested it and needed a lot of trimming out. I left more details on your BGL set-up video. ;)
RCWASPOVISION Cool, just heading over to check out your comments. Good to hear it was a success.
VERY GOOD VIDEO HELPFUL I'VE GOT THE V2 VERSION COMING TOMORROW. I WILL TRY A 50AMP ESC WITH 4S BATTERIES FOR A LITTLE EXTRA OOMPHHHH...!!!
G'day Michael, thanks for the links via eBay.
No worries Bill, I hope the BGL-6G-AP install goes well, but feel free to come back with any questions you might have. Cheers Michael
Could you fit 125mm x 125mm solar panels on the wings? If so, how many would you fit on? Thanks for the video :)
I am sure you'd be able to get some on there, But I'll take some measurements for you
battery 2200mAH?
G'day MrAlex71it, yes I did start with a 3s 2200mAh battery, but I prefer the climb outs on a 4s 1800mAh. Cheers Michael
Build !!! Ha ha lol
Happy to have amused you. Not sure what is funny though?
