Thank you for your videos, fellow human! They indeed make me feel the emotions that were meant to be inspired by them! I am not a bot but rather a human interacting on the human internet!
Love the series and your other retro grand strategy playthoughs. Would love to see more and would love to see an empire play though of this game. Cheers
Francis, in the star wars lore, the empire gets defeated by swarms of xwings because turbolasers are too inaccurate to hit them and tie-fighters are trash paper tigers only meant to harass farmers. Also spies and guerillas sabotaging everything. Its actually amazing how lore accurate this game is The empire does get lancer frigates later in and they are a menace to xwings
Don't forget the X-Wing was supposed to be part of the Imperial fleets. The designers defected to the Rebellion with all the plans and prototypes before the Empire could get their hands on them. It wasn't a run-down two thousand years old technology - it was top-notch latest high-tech platform, unlike most of the other ships the Rebellion had access to. Granted, given the display of firepower (and corresponding shielding technology) we see in the movies and described in the novelisations, it's hard to see how they could ever pose a threat to an actual Star Destroyer or such, even with torpedoes; but they are perfect for the guerrilla warfare the Rebellion has at its backbone (before the time of _this_ game, which essentially sees the Rebellion ramp-up into a full-blown competing state). Jump in, wreak havoc, get out. Disrupt supply lines, hit the repair depots and shipyards. There's a lot more important planets in the Empire than there are Star Destroyers. But of course, for a game, even one with quite a lot of focus on sabotage and such, that's quite hard to depict. Resources still magically appear where they are needed. For every planet you get in the game, there's about a thousand in "real life". Though of course most of those aren't vital shipyards. So we get X-Wings being able to destroy Star Destroyers directly. Still, absolutely great game :) I love they actually took the idea of the ramping up Rebellion against dwindling Empire and went with it, rather than trying some generic RTS thing.
@LuaanTi it's not actually canon right now but I'm almost certain the game is heavily inspired by the incredible x-wing and thrawn books. In fact, several of the characters are directly taken from EU books. In the x-wings books, it's shown several times how undefended star destroyers are very vulnerable to torpedo barrages from X and Y wings. The first barrage overloads the shields, the second barrage can't be blocked entirely and the warheads rip huge holes in the hulls set up to defend against turbolasers, not explosive penetrators
Thanks for playing Rebellion, this game was one of my favorites growing up. I would love to see you try out Empire at War with the Thrawn's Revenge Mod on it.
I think the worst thing about this game is that it seems to be a cash-in on the Expanded Universe - and that it would totally work on me. "Oh I know that guy! Oh, cool, Noghri, I love Zahn's novels! Hey, the guy that designed the Death Star!"
Eew! What's that in its mouth? Oh, it's got a Tie Fighter? Oh, it flys backwards? Now watch this: look an exhaust port up in that Death Star. X Wing don't care. It just shoots the torpedo down the bung hole. Whenever it's hungry it just -- Eew, and it eats, Tie Fighters... Watch it fly! Look at that flying!
I remember playing the game back in the day and it was pretty enjoyable. Had a bit more depth than Empire at War that was supposed to be its successor. I remember liking the force system, even though it's a bit jank for the Empire (you don't know who is a potential force sensitive apprentice unless they hang out with Vader or Emperor to discover it). But yeah, too bad the game seems to be so unbalanced :D.
If I remember correctly if the empire builds a death star and the Rebels attack it and win the empire automatically loses the game. Yeah the game is heavily skewed towards the rebels When i was a kid I wanted to try and take the entire galaxy... by day 1700 (or something) I was soooooo sick of this game I just said screw it and roflstomped corouscant to get it over with, uninstalled it and never played it again...It's so tedious.
Not sure Dungeon Rogue likes work for the channel, I tend to start something and then burn entirely to much time on it. Rogue likes tend not to work very well with that. Out of curiosity is that profile pic the Rabbit from Dungeon Reset?
My father introduced me to this game and I still come back to it at times.
I miss him. So, so much.
47:45 The boondock saints scene had me rolling, well played lol

Wellll..... if the rebels are so overpowered with xwings. Why don't you try to rule the empire?
I really wanne see him play Empire at War now..
Either I’m cuckoo, or 21 resources per planet x 10 planets equals 210 resources - not 2,100.
Any rate, happy “Sobriety Not Included” Boxing Day!

48:01 oh that sequence was peeeeerrrfect
Play as the Empire!
"'Mof Jerry? We're better off leaving him in charge." - Rick Sanchez
1:20:48 You should do an Empire run of this game for next Christmas if you are not in the middle of a different game at that time. 😂
8:10 In the X-Wing, the food is located beneath the seats
I would definitely end up with a "pet" empire blockaded on coruscant while go and colonize everything.
this is a fun throwback series! after last video though I was like.... that hangover is going to hurt. We might not see another video for a bit. :P
Honestly, this is a game they could make a remake of. Modernise it a bit, make it turnbased and you're good. Star Wars grand strategy? Yes, please.

Beep Boop, well played fellow human
have you played empire at war it"s a similar game but more modern and has a huge modding community
How does the x-wing strat fare against Lancer Frigates? Or does the Empire never really make it that far?
Eew! What's that in its mouth? Oh, it's got a Tie Fighter? Oh, it flys backwards? Now watch this: look an exhaust port up in that Death Star. X Wing don't care. I'm sorry are we really not bringing up THE honey badger meme?
I wonder if the Empire vs Rebellion strength asymmetry is their attempt at a hard and easy difficulty.
20:00 Admiral-General Vaderadine?
You ever play Sid Meiers pirates!? I think it is a game you might enjoy

Honey Badger doesn't care... do you see that? its nasty.... honey badger doesnt care! :D
You should have played the game as the empire imo
Has it been an hour already?
