I have a feeling the mass production of this saber is going to be cheaper quality but with a premium price.
How do we know the original was even that good to begin with? At the galactic starcruiser, Rey had to put it down to switch with a solid neopixel to duel with.
@@priyonjoni well they were series 1 probably might be better by now but idk how much better.
Then two or three years later, they’ll give us the true version.

A big turn off is when I hit my little brother with it and the blade bends 😂
@@priyonjoni they probably only have a few of those made and are probably all considered prototypes so i can understand why they wouldn’t want to fight with them. My worry is when lanny said about getting with a company to help with getting these made more for the masses to be more accessible to the average buyer. That just means to me however much disney spent on making theirs id imagine a toy company will use lesser quality parts and ect.

A couple of things. Firstly, Hasbro has the exclusive license on producing "Lightsabers" so no one else can sell them other than Disney. However, Hasbro will not produce anything as complex as this saber. They will have another manufacturer design and produce it, and Hasbro will Label slap. The Disney sabers are manufactured by Hasbro and Disney just label slaps. With this new saber, you will never be able to hit anything. I'm a Mechanical and Manufacturing engineer. This blade design will never be thin enough to roll up and thick enough to take a hit. Love the videos. Keep them coming.
An engineer who says "never"...not a good mindset for an engineer to innovate. Hasbro has the trademark on the word "lightsaber", but the original creator has the rights to his mechanical design which Hasbro turned down.

I guess all engineers have to pack it up, none of us will ever be good enough for David H.

There is a lot of planning in between and Hasbro's supply chain isn't up for it. They specialize is dumbing down ideas.

I was at Batuu East last night since I live close by. They have officially retired the Anakin Skywalker Jedi Knight Revenge of The Sith legacy lightsaber, The Count Dooku Jedi Master (blue) legacy lightsaber from Tales of The Jedi, The Darth Maul legacy lightsaber has been retired as well but is now available in black box like the Mace Windu. But they do have The Stellan Gios and Ki-Adi Mundi legacy lightsabers in the grey crate. The Castmember I spoke with said they hopefully might get new ones soon.
At least $200 for a saber you cant wrap your hands around because the hilt is too fat, and a blade that cant hit anything without breaking. Disaster in a box, waiting to happen.

I was told well at Disney last year that Hasbro also makes the park saber's
Retroblasting did a video on the one that came out. This will be a lawsuit battle of its Hasbro who turned down the inventor who has since released his power saber.
Twist saber is like 40 bucks for the plan and you can print it yourself. Seems like a better option 🤣

You can always visit the parks and pick one up...I'd love to book it for you!! But I'd suspect that the Disney Shop is the only place outside the parks they will be available. So you can shop online...

Hasbro makes some strange decisions. I totally understand turning down one in favor of the other, but they absolutely should have run with both designs, and had two options. One is clearly cheaper to make and can probably be hit with another...
If they pick up Disney's version of the lightsaber thats gonna be sad for two reasons. One, they kinda screw the guy that came up with the power saber. Two. We all know how Disney's quality control is.

I know what you mean. I was hoping they would make brighter blades, but it feels like they may have made a long commitment decision to the less bright LED technology for all of their blades and Sabers.

If thus is released for retail sale in the Disney Parks, it will only be available in Doc Ondars Den Of Antiquities in Galaxy's Edge, and it will be very expensive.
I'm not trying to be skeptical, but at the same time, I'm not holding my breath.
As for buying a Disney lightsaber, if it comes out, again it's a case of "wait and see".
They only do that so Lenny be able to sue Power Saber designer. Even if they and Lanny own patent for that toy, until it's released on market, no lawsuit can be proceeded.
They are essentialy different in design though, one is a telescoping saber, the other is pretty much a motorised tape ruler with LEDs

Hey Finding the force, love the videos and actually had a question about which website I should use to purchase Neopixel Lightsabers. Any recommendations? I have heard so many different ones I’m really not sure. I’m definitely picking up Anakin’s ROTS my dream saber. Anyway keep up the good work and may the force be with you.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it is my understanding that no one has ever seen the “retractable” lightsaber actually retract. In all the live demos a big show is made of it *extending*, but then it is carried offstage in its extended state or, in the case of the climactic Galactic Starcruiser show, it is quickly swapped for a dueling saber before the duel with Kyle Ren begins. The popular hypothesis is that it isn’t actually capable of retracting and instead has to be manually reset between shows.
It also sounds like a lot of work would need to be done to make this mechanism durable enough for a consumer product. The live demos never seem to involve any kind of energetic swinging of the saber, to say nothing of dueling with it. Presumably it would crumple like a tape measure at the slightest impact.
Will this new retractable lightsaber be something that you can actually play with hitting another lightsaber or because it's made out of two semi-circle measuring tape like devices will it just fall fall over if you smack something with it?
In any of their demos have they shown them having a duel of any kind, or even just swinging it and coming to a sudden stop?
i doubt its gonna be classified as a toy, I think its gonna be more of a display piece or a collectors item, I mean idk if we should let kids swing around and hit such a delicate lightsaber lol
This sounds speculative on his part. If these talks are happening, it's very very early. I wouldn't call this confirmed tho. I can say confidently it isn't in active development at Hasbro atm.

Depends on the quality and if the saber isn't twice the size it should be. I'll likely wait for the saber made by third party fan companies to make their version.
What do we think this does for the 3 party market? All the companies that have made rub, xenopixle and proffie board sabers? Will those become obsolete?
Dear everyone I really hate to be a downer on this news but I’m very disappointed I do own a broken master replica of attack of the clones anakin skywalker the very first lightsaber but years gone by not one time Disney nor hasbro never touch this lightsaber please tell me why ? Galaxy's Edge sabers stink! They are NOT movie accurate, thats why people buy sabers from other retailers like my 4 sabers and 3 of them are Star Wars Sabers. I have Luke's from ROTJ base lit I have 2 Starkiller sabers, one from the first The Force Unleshed with the exposed Kyber Cristal and one from The Force Unleshed 2, the one in the poster both are Neopixel and I have another baselit for Ludosport. I have to have accurate sabers for my Starkiller Tie Training Gear because I am 501st Legion.
Dude. The audio is always so over modulated. Great content. But sometimes, I just can't listen with that terrible audio.

They must be hurrrrting for cash right now. I bet this is why they passed on the other fully-retracting Saber toy that just came out recently.
The only problem with it is the hilt is too big and the blade is too short. It's cool but hopefully they can eventually improve it.
I only want one if they're battle-ready. Extra points if they make a full-sized blade.
I think I would rather have one made by hacksmith. Their sabers are retractable and can cut trough steel.

My purchase will entirely be based on price. I don't need to have a specific person's saber. I just want it to be fun. If it's 2-3 times more expensive than the Goliath, I am perfectly happy with "just" the Goliath

Probably be a very watered down version of it mind you. We’ve already had retractable ‘force action’ toy lightsabers way before. Just as good.
I’d say the official one will use a polycarbonate blade like the power saber but replace the flashlight with a central string of LEDs. It will be cheap and robust, give the brightness and the desired effect combined with a thicker metal hilt to house it all.
