Funny timing. My gf just bought this game when we were in an amazing boardgame store and we played it yesterday. She really likes it, event hough she is not as keen on most other boardgames. Thanks for the review and the tip with the heavy-pointer cards! Also, all the little in-jokes with the items are just great! I got a golden ticket and my gf got a wooden Great-A'Tuin-Table
Looks like a very well produced game, with great art. Not a fan of push-your-luck games myself, though. The explanation was a little hazy around what cards you need to pass onto the next stage. Caught it the send time viewing, but didn't understand the first watch.
This is a great looking game and I wanted to like it so much, but having seen an almost hour long play through of it it seems quite boring to obtain those 50 points you need to win. The sticking point for me is this whole aspect each turn of "bluffing" the other players saying you have the cards in hand that you need to conquer the dice you just rolled and then they either believe you or they don't. The bluffing just seems like a waste of time (which is also what ruins Sheriff of Nottingham for me). I wonder if this aspect could just be eliminated?
You can find cards with higher values in lower piles. There is at least one 12 points card in the 2+ island and some 6s and a 9 in the 4+ island, for instance
