Defiles on road moves were always an annoyance as possible ambush spots. If we were part of a combat team, it was the job of the infantry to check it on foot while our tanks covered them in the event there was an anti-tank and MG team present. If our armour was alone, we would take a defensive position and then send a lone trooper, a loader, to visually check the defile and then give the all clear to proceed. One exercise where our squadron completely forgot their SOP’s, we were completely wiped out by an ambush by an infantry anti-tank platoon. I was gunning for my troop leader that day and took the initiative to swing over to the left to rake the woods with spec fire. The Lt asked me “What are you doing?” And had me swing back over the front. Seconds later there was a boom from the woods and we all got a two hour coffee break, along with the rest of the squadron. The Lt was the only officer I knew who lost his command and was thrown out of the regiment in disgrace, but not for that exercise.

Do you have any information on the Tiger tank (?) that was destroyed by an American advance party in Welkenraedt... probably on September 11 or maybe 12 ? I once saw a photo of that tank published in a book about Welkenraedt. . My father who was 15 years old at that time witnessed the event and had an interesting anecdote about it.
@@Decadent36 Actually there were 2 German tanks one of which had mechanical problem slowing down the other one in its escape since all German units had evacuated Eastern Belgium in the last 24 hours and the American advance units were expected to liberate the area any time now... but the 2 crews decided to stop in Welkenraedt (a very small town) to try to fix it the best they could in order to reach the safety of the Siegfried line a few kilometers away. They just didn't want to abandon a fairly good tank... It was an interesting yet tragic story... of which I reserve the details for someone who would be able to shed more light on the probable German unit those 2 tanks belonged to.
What's your source for the Shermans destroying the vehicle park of KG Knittel? They destroyed a few gun tractors from Auge's outfit (see Wilhelm Ihle's recollections) but the shelling by the 456th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion had already forced the drivers from the 2. (le. SPW.-) Kompanie, the Pionierzug, the Nachrichtenzug and the Fahrradzug to move their armoured halftracks and other vehicles from the SS-PzAA1 across the Petit-Spay Bridge to a safe position near Wanne and out of range of the American guns. Artillery observers had been sent to Trois-Ponts, among them Lieutenant Reed , who reached the town long before the paratroopers. He installed his observation post at the confluence of the Salm and Amblève Rivers. Reed’s first task was to guide the artillery attack on a German machine gun position on the eastern bank of the Salm, following this he spotted the vehicles of the Aufklärungsabteilung parked in the northern part of Trois-Ponts near the railroad viaduct. As soon as the artillery shelling started,, they one by one disappeared under the viaduct out of Reed’s view, just in time to escape a confrontation with the tanks of Company ‘E’, 33rd Armored Regiment.
BTW, for the German defenders the artillery shelling, immediately followed by an armoured attack, must have looked like a well-coordinated American operation against their western flank, but in reality both were purely coincidental.
You are, of course, absolutely right! If I recall correctly, the 2nd Abteilung SS-Pz. Artillerie Regt. 1 was attached to Knittel, so I generalized the statement by saying that the vehicle park where several vehicles were destroyed was part of Knittel's kampgfruppe.

Can you do two videos one on Operation Undertone and the other one on the battle of the tanks aka the battle of Arracourt and the battle of Arracourt interests me because it was the largest tank battle involving us forces on the western front until the battle of the bulge. And I am asking if you can do a video on Operation Undertone because the area where Operation Undertone was going to strike was known as the palatinate and you see back in the 1730s my ancestors lived in the palatinate until 1753 when my paternal grandmothers Paternal great grandfathers paternal great grandfathers father my 6x great grandfather JOHN ANDREW WEIKERT left the palatinate and made his way to Rotterdam where he set sail for America which was under the rule of Great Britain at that time and on September 24th 1753 the ship he was on landed at the capital of the province of Pennsylvania and that capital was none other than Philadelphia.

I would like to see a video on Allied anti Tank actions, in particular individual launched ant Tank weapons such as Bazookas and the 155(?) anti Tank gun. How effective were these weapons? What were the conditions necessary for these shoulder launched weapons to be effective?
I don't really make weapon specific videos, but I have featured the bazooka in a video about the battle for Trois-Ponts and in a video describing the battle of Singling. You can fire them from indoors as well, making it a very handy weapon indeed. I think the only thing that needs checking before firing is if the back-blast is clear. But, I'm no expert, so don't quote me on that.
Can you tell me where you found the information about three SS guarding Otto Blaśes' 332? I have read what the old Patton museum director, Charles Lemons sent regarding the US side which included the phosphorous round being shot at the 332, and it noted that two men got out of the tank and ran, and I have read the report of what happened to the 332 in Tigers in Combat 2, plus an email by Wolfgang Schneider wrote. The two reports do not agree, but it is noted that indeed, the 332 was captured and sent back to the United States.

Twatted by the Americans in the Ardennes who cobbled together a very effective rolling defence followed by a counter attack. Lost the a battle of the Atlantic. So please show me an example of the performance of German soldiers other than against unarmed civilians.
@@simonmorris4226 it took many countries including 3 superpowers to defeat Germany even though they had broken the German inigma code.

It was the US that used weapons of mass destruction against civilians.

@@simonmorris4226The on-average, man-for-man superiority of the German soldier to his enemies is well attested.
That’s what happens if you’re in a tank with an 18% survivability rate
The German army seems almost comically inept at times during the Ardennes offensive.
By this time in the war the German command structure was almost as bad as the red army's had been at the beginning of the German invasion. Most of these units had never trained together. Most were cobbled together specifically for the ardennes offensive.
@John Cornell The winners.
@John Cornell What does any of this have to do with the comically inept Volksgrenadier units depicted in this vid?
@John Cornell aaand that magically stops the german units from doing dumb shit, as portrayed in this video? are you drunk or something? wakey wakey
@John Cornell All I'm seeing here is a loser trying to cope with the fact these Germans are running around blind like clowns. They could barely push back rear-echelon and reservists and got smacked hard once the Allies figured out what was going on. Stay mad :). By all means keep seething with your whataboutisms.
Great Stuff! Can you please make video about the Battle of Radzimin-Wololmin- Mińsk Mazowiecki area in july-august 1944 (Eastern front, sector of Group army "Centre")? Its also logically continues your video The Battle of Maciejow!

Intonation. You should get schooled on it. Because it's not good. Your voice goes up and down for no reason. Listen to Mark Felton. Now that's a great narrator. Greetings from a citizen of Grand-Halleux, about 10 km south of Coo.
I know, I know. However, as I'm not a native English speaker it is often far more difficult to speak in a different language. I have also found that working with scripts can be quite stressful, certainly in my busy schedule as everything needs to be correct in one go. Greetings back from a fellow countryman!

They say that even for Sherman tank was the winner of World War I don't think so the Tiger tank destroyed more Sherman's then you can ever imagine and the King Tiger was the one of the best tanks the also the panther could destroy Sherman in over two and a half miles away it was the most accurate tank on the battlefield even with its 75 mm Cannon you can still Ripper Sherman to shreds at two and a half miles away and it took four to five Sherman M4 has to destroy a tiger tank but the Tiger tank would destroy all of them because it was Superior power all the 88 mm what's Superior to our tanks Firepower they would have to get within a half a mile to even penetrate the armor on a tiger tank or Panther or King Tiger so the battle really wasn't one by Sherman's even though they overwhelm the Germans with as many Shermans as they had the only reason why the Germans didn't win is cuz they took on three countries and you can't take on three countries with the sources you don't have if they wouldn't have took on three countries they would have whooped our ass
They better pray that the German panther king tigers and panzers 4s as well as one Ferdinand
