      The Olympic City features a monorail station and a suburban train system. Additionally, it is complemented by a Siemens-supplied and operated high-speed rail network spanning 2,000 kilometers, with a total cost exceeding 20 billion Euros. Recently, the German Federal President visited the station in the new capital.

    They are building Olympic facilities but they haven't won any bids yet. We still have LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032. I am sure that IOC would rather choose Doha instead. An example of this is Baku, Azerbaijan. They are lucky though that European Games became a thing and they were able to host an event similar in the scale of Asian Games because of the venues they built.

    • @HALLish-jl5mo
      @HALLish-jl5mo 3 часа назад +2

    • @scorpioninpink

      @@HALLish-jl5moAnd again, Doha already has these facilities they've built for the Asian Games 2006 and Arab Games and then succeeded World Sports Championships and World Cup. If they are going to give the hosting right to a Desert country, they would give it to the rich country with a track record of holding these events and proper facilities with a grassroot sports program. Hosting the Olympics is not just about the venues, it is also about their ability to commit to accommodations for athletes and audiences. Of course they would rather give it to a European country again or in non-Desert climate instead but if the choice is between this unnamed capital in Egypt or Doha, Qatar? They would surely choose Qatar. Especially when Egypt doesn't have that good of a reputation when it comes to tourism.

    As a Brazilian, I am tired of seeing outdated misinformation about the state of Rio's Olympic Park. The pool in the famous photo no longer exists, because the arena was temporary and that was always the intention, as was the handball arena next door. So much so that they were dismantled and the structures were used to build schools in other cities. You know, Brazil is not just Rio.
    It is true that there was a problem in the following years with the mismanagement of former mayor Marcelo Crivela, but the other arenas in the Olympic park are still being used, and the olympic park has hosted the last five editions of Rock in Rio. In fact, the organizers announced a permanent venue and the construction of an amusement park on the site.

    Egypt is making the same mistake Rio and Athens made. Building every permanent to be permanent is a disaster in the making. There's a reason why every successful Olympic city utilizes temporary venues.

    Ok, so did no one tell them no one wants the anymore, so the bid is noncompetitive? Also, the venues are going to be outdated when the hosting finally comes, there’s a reason everything get’s finished last minute normally, and it’s not just bad organisation.

    Problem is: the IMF and World Bank cannot afford Egypt to go bankrupt and the Egyptians know it. So they can borrow money and be (almost) assured they get loans afterloans to keep it afloat. And ignore the IMF/World Bank's recommendations.

    For all criticism we must make for the New Capital project, I honestly hope Egypt host the 2036 Olympics, would be such a waste of money if they not do it.
    Besides, if we are all wrong and the new capital became a sucess, this Olympic park would greatly improve the sports development in Egypt.
