- Almost every time I got to go see my dad before he passed, we would wind up on this trail at some point doing some hiking and fishing. I couldn’t think of a better place to play this acoustic version of my new song “Son”. I hope you enjoy it and it means something to you.

I had my first son at 21 years old. He’s turning 18 this summer and graduating. His mom and I broke up shortly after. I spent the last 17 years driving 3 hours every weekend to spend the time with him. All these years went by way too fast. This song hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m now remarried and have two more boys. And yes, I get them all together.
My mom was always running

We'd drive back to his small apartment
It was hot wheels on the worn out carpet
We'd play games 'til the Braves game started
And he'd let me stay up late
Time with him was always flying
Sunday's never had good timing
I'd start to pack and end up crying
And he'd kneel down and say

I was gonna go live with him
But I guess God had other plans

A drunk driver crossed that centerline
They said my dad didn't feel a thing

Cause losing him, it left me cold
I was mad at God, couldn't let it go

A brown eyed baby boy was born and
I looked outside and it started pouring
I swear they were daddy's tears
My old man, I could almost see him

The pain in mine started leaving
