    I’ve owned the NZ8 projector for a year and loved the picture quality out of the box, A few weeks ago I had it professionally calibrated by Kris Deering and WOW! Out of the box was great. However, calibrated, it’s amazing. I guess I didn’t know what I was missing. It’s as good as some OLED TV on my 120” screen. Movie nights are spectacular.

    Your website says " The NZ8 will support 3D Blu-ray content with the addition of a $99 adapter". Does the projector become a 3D active or 3D passive display?

    • @TheoNicolakis

      Great question. The adapter enables the use of active shutter glasses.

      Different products in the home
      Theater hobby address different desires and circumstances. A projector will provide you with a larger screen size that today’s displays cannot yet match. 125-inch, 150-inch etc are projector domains. At these larger sizes the ability to put your speakers behind the screen is pure gold. These larger sizes in an LED make proper speaker placement very difficult unless the room is large and seating distance further away. Finally you can get a 2.4.1 projector and screen combo for the ultimate experience.

    • @michaeloconnor9465
      @michaeloconnor9465 9 месяцев назад

      @hometheaterfever5 That answer is arrogant. Maybe people don't want to spend so much. I spend around 3000 dollars when I buy a TV. It really is about nits and HDR now to get an accurate picture. You can not play UHD blu ray disk and get the full brightness in nits and the picture as intended on a home cinema projector. Whatever the cost. You can on the new mini led TV.

    • @TheoNicolakis
      @TheoNicolakis 9 месяцев назад

      Gentlemen, there's merits to both points-and there's lots more too. I personally, cannot use an LED display. I love OLED, love the infinite black contrast, love the off-axis performance and color fidelity, and I take that every day of the week over more brightness as I view in a darkened environment. That said, I absolutely prefer the immersion, size, detail, and overall experience of the JVC NZ8. While I appreciate both my particular circumstances and preferences point me in one direction over another. Each of us has different viewing environments and certainly our particular preferences that make us desire one avenue over another. Is one better in an absolute manner than another? Nope. That's where the fun of the hobby comes in. Let's enjoy solving the unique problems in our spaces with the best possible solutions to get lost in movie magic!

      @TheoNicolakis 9 месяцев назад

      There is no question the NZ7, NZ8, and NZ9 command a steep price and are geared towards dedicated theaters with very large screens. For comparison you’ll find LG’s 97-inch OLED for $30,000. There are lots of other, more cost effective options including short throw projection solutions that offer a tremendous experience at a significantly cheaper price point than the NZ8. The NZ8’s performance is exceptional and special among its competition and landscape.

      @@TheoNicolakisI was disappointed when JVC moved away from the more affordable end of the market with X30, and then went pure high end price. They need a £3000 entry projector for the masses. The mini led test that cost £5000 at 100" that can do 6000 nits and I think I heard 7000 nits when it comes to HDR the projectors can't come close. Since HDR everything is about nits. The more nits means that a blu ray UHD disk can play and show as it was original made to do without compromise.

    • @TheoNicolakis
      @TheoNicolakis 9 месяцев назад

      @@michaeloconnor9465 thinking through that comment, market conditions may be forcing that move. With display technologies now making 90-100 inch more “affordable” it puts pressure on premium projector manufacturers to focus even on the higher end and larger screen sizes. The low end folks are probably reading the tea leaves. Having the experience of both HDR and screen size I still find the larger screen size to deliver the more satisfying experience. While projectors cannot reach those upper limits of HDR, I was watching Pacific Rim and testing the tone mapping and HDR performance of the JVC and in the end it was just so incredibly satisfying.

    I have seen all of the projectors in person in all settings in all types of rooms, and for the money Sony is #1.
    Yes JVC is awesome and has a spectacular picture but Sony is no slouch at all, and goes toe to toe with JVC. My opinion is due to the Sony VPL-XW5000ES. Pound for pound and value for dollar it is top of the heap.
