Your comments on optimism/pessimism were very interesting to me. I have a negatively biased view and my dad is always trying to convince me to take the positivity pill. I refuse to believe him because he always forces it on me as if it is fact, from the perspective of "I am your father, I am more wise than you, what could you possibly know to refute me?" You however, acknowledged that it's total delusion but it is nevertheless helpful, so it's a lot more palatable coming from you.
