Great video. A first flight must be a nerve wracking affair. I particularly liked his thorough and complete self briefing before take-off. What a skill level!
DUDE! I think we met at the Shelbyville Corvair event in 2021. You were in your hangar working on the tailwind. And we were all just hanging out. Congrats on flying the tailwind!!
Great vid. FYI ability to make it back is a function of the airplane and its climb and glide performance. Headwind and runway length are also important. The altitude at the time of turnback is less important; climb to glide ratios do not depend much on altitude. The important thing for survival is not whether you turn back; it is whether you stall the plane trying to land it somewhere. Fewer people die going straight because fewer people stall going straight. So if you are planning to turn back, practice turning without stalling, because stalling and spinning even at 1000 feet is still fatal.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Did you make the second video with performance numbers? What engine do you have on it? And what prop? I have W10 with O300 from an old C172 and a wood prop 68-70. I would like to change the prop to improve the cruise speed. Any recommendations?
I think you did a great job and not sure I would give yourself a hard time for not going around. If the flap handle was acting up and it jams who’s to say you didn’t do exactly the right thing and then evaluate the flap handle situation later. Great flying. Fun times!
So why was this so nerve racking? I test flew an rv3, i had flown one before. that i rebuilt. i also test flew my pitts s1 i built from scratch and no previous s1 time.
Looked good! Im helping an old man finish his W-10. No way should you have gone around! You had the field made. You made the correct decision. Rethink your go around statement. You'll realize that would have been putting you and the airplane in an unnecessary position.
well we learn far more from our non-accomplishments than our successes, I probably could have gotten my point across without sounding like a dick. Looking forward to your content in the future. @@MotoFlightGuy
Music detracts greatly from what should be an uplifting moment . No music would be better.
Proud sister right here, that's awesome Ryan❤️
This is just so wholesome. We need more siblings like this
You’d think Lindbergh was crossing the Atlantic with this overly produced music track

Very well done! Safe flights going forward!

Yeah I remember talking to several of you guys. Hope you come back!
@@MotoFlightGuy I'd sure like to! Glad I found your channel. I liked, commented, and subscribed. ;)
@@MarkBaldridge thanks! I appreciate it!
congratulations on your first flight looked great, I love my little Tailwind and appears you love yours also.

Sweet airplane and great video. That must be a thrill to fly your own plane. Good work
You made the right decision on landing lots of time to figure out problems on ground after safe landing especially on first flight
Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Had to turn off sound, background music too loud.
CONGRATULATIONS!! Well done!!
Thanks! Next landings I post will be smoother haha
@@MotoFlightGuy not to worry. As you say quite rightly. The wittman gear is very forgiving!!
I remember my first flight in my W8. Amazing experience
Such a unique airplane. Flies beautifully!
Great video man. Such a cool little plane. Looking forward to seeing more!

Is this a flying video or a trance club? Jesus with that music.
Music is used internally to convey a certain mood to the viewer. Thanks for watching 🙂
Good for you man. My two cents, some stalls for #s and feel.
I had to watch it twice nice work Mr.
Wow thanks!
Belated congratulations !
Nice! Always been a fan of the Tailwind, but never flown in one. Congrats!
I love the airplane. Very fun to fly
awesome video, get rid of the music, we want to hear you, the wind, and the engine...
I've test flown 3 airplanes, it's always a thrill.
Definitely a thrill. I'd do it again in a heartbeat

Not everyone is the same level of proficient or competent. Hundreds of people bent their new Pitts back in the heyday of those plans sales.
Fantastic video and fantastic debrief items for yourself.
Thanks!

lol the music
Niece flight really like the tailwind
Very Cool....
Where’s your checklist?
I owned Jim Clement ninth tailwind great airplane
Why did you sell it?
flap problem is common. Check the notch in the curved tube to make sure it locks in!
On my way to buy one tomorrow. Will have video. Will let ya know
Turn the music down.
excelente video´´ saludos desde argentina y espero poder ver el siguiente , saludos
How tall are you? I’m looking at Tailwinds, but was told at 5’11” it might be a tight fit.
I'm like 5'9"ish I think. That definitely might be a tight fit if it's not modded. My head is pretty close to the roof
Awesome
Nice job.
Thanks Rob!
how tall are you?
I think around 5-9
Awesome plane, I always wanted to see one up close. If I never get a harmon rocket perhaps a tailwind will slip pass my wife.....
Would definitely try to slip a Tailwind past the wife!
nothing slips past your wife ......
great video crappy levels on the music
Yeah I was still learning, heck I still barely know what I'm doing. I rewatched this recently and wish I had done better with normalizing the audio.

Great video, but the music sucks. I can't hear you talking over the music!
Do u have xplane11
Yep I do. Haven't flown it in awhile but I do stream on twitch sometimes in the winter

Congratulation , However the video was too much music too much drama could not watch it
Great video, loose the background music!
