Cool video, my dad had a 1981 land cruiser, 4 cyl diesel, it was a beast. We had a lot of fun with it until it completely rotted out. Mechanically it probably was good for several more 100,000km's. Keep up the good videos. I sub'd.
Thanks. My Landcruiser was pretty rotten when I got it. They all tend to do this parts of the world that has rain & snow. Road salt likes to eat away at the metal. I fixed/patched the body and installed a new frame…. A lot of work but it feels good the save it from the wrecker.
The perception is that FF are stronger due to their construction. I also think that their are safer as well. Larger vehicles typically care larger/heavier loads and the last thing Roy want here is a wheel falling off. I can’t seem to locate any hard evidence that a Landcruiser FF can carry more weight but just looking the construction the FF does appear to be built more solid.
Nice vid, would you happen to know if the rear center could be used in the full float housing? I have a JDM 24v HJ61 with 3.7 gears. All the Australian models are full float 4.11, just curious if it's an easy swap or not
Before I can make any fuel consumption claims, one needs to put it in context. The engine is a 12HT, 5 speed, 4:11 gears, 33” mud terrain tires, bumpers and roof rack. I have a 90litre fuel tank and typically get 800-900km per tank. This equates to roughly 11L/100kms.
Thanks for commenting. My HJ60 is about to hit 400,000 kms. My rebuilt 12HT is going strong but the transmission is getting a bit loud. Going to have to investigate that. I hope it is something simple like a throwout bearing. Cheers.
great video you incouraged me to work on my fj40 to convert the rear axel to a full float axel thatwas the best thing i did big hug to you pro
Great to hear. Thanks for commenting. Cheers.
Thanks for the useful information. I also converted my HJ60 based on your video. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Cheers

You usually see full floaters in 1-ton trucks in North America. Does the land cruiser full floater handle more weight as well?

Yes, the 3rd members are interchangeable. That’s exactly what I did. Cheers.
@@MikeFreda Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. Love your channel btw
good afternoon, tell me what is your fuel consumption for LC60 one hundred kilometers, in the city and on the highway?

do you know the track width ?
Of what? Just the axles? Outside drum face to outside drum face? Or Centerline of my tires?
Own one with 700++ mile on it still going...12ht
