Although Toby has stated that the actual full game could take an indefinite amount of time to complete since he doesn't even have a team, almost immediately Devolver Digital has reached out to him for possible assistance. It goes to show that with just one title Toby was able to have a lot of the video game industry taking him seriously.
ABSOLUTELY! Devolver Digital is the perfect publisher for Deltarune/Undertale 2. DD has made a very good name in helping out indie devs and giving them the resources they need. Also it would seem like DD would not infringe on creative freedom considering the weird games they publish and their insane e3 presentations. The only thing I would be hesitant about is if Toby actually needs a publisher's team instead of just handpicking his own team. Signing a deal with a publisher could be a good and bad if they take a cut of profits, though at this point profits don't seem to be a big deal. If Toby goes with Devolver Digital it should go swimmingly if they have people familiar with Gamemaker: Studio. Whatever Toby decides, I trust him. Toby, if you're reading this I don't want to put pressure on you, I know you work really hard already. Just have fun and know that this community has your back.
Not much in terms of solid evidence, but I feel like this Alternate Universe of the original game may have been constructed by Gaster, and then subsequently hijacked by Chara. I know there's metaphors hiding in this Dark Kingdom, but I don't grasp symbolism very well....
@@Saiavinn I think its more of like a dream state of chara/frisk from the end of undertale when he's in his bed. Dreams and things that may happen in dreams can be found all throughout delta rune being referenced or happening. Delta Rune is even described as a legend of dreams.
You know what would be awesome? If there was a secret boss rush thing where you fought all the original bosses in the first Undertale with this new combat system.
I don't have played Deltarune and I just LOVE how Jevil is a beautiful paradox: When you approach the cell door he says a marvelous fun is about to BREAK FREE *invites you lot to enter their cell* He claims to be a free being *Despite to being imprisoned for who knows when* He begins a fight of live or death (at least for us the players, Jevil proclaims their body can't be destroyed) *And yet he calls all this a "GAME"* Jevil says he's getting exhausted *Instead of calming down he starts to jump madly all over the scenario, to the point of doubling himself and attacking you from different fronts at the same time. And his attacks are more fierceful and violent* And in a life where choices really doesn't matter *he lives by his own rules and proclaims HE CAN DO ANYTHING* I thinks Jevil's own power is the *AUTODETERMISM* : by believing he can do anything (or believing that in a life without a free will he can choose to do anything he wants without fear of consequences) he really begins to break the shackles that ties him and everyone to a life without the freedom of choice. And in the little space that is his cellroom he can choose to be allmighty and invincible and by believing so then *he is.* Is like Tom Bombadill from the tales of Tolkien: An omnipotent being IF he stays inside within the limits of his own domain which is his own home and surroundings.
Honestly, I love jevil. He’s such a creative character! He fits in with the medieval style of the game, and just unique overall. It’s not everyday you get to see a black-and-purple jester in prison!
Interesting how Jevil warns them of a "Queen" and a nightmare awakening in their hearts and how he and the King make a mention of a Knight who Maybe involved with the fountains.
Well according to Seam. Jevil met WD Gaster. Faster shared deep and dark secrets, knowledge, and the revelations of such things made him go crazy he spoke of things "Darker yet Darker"
I just realized, when Jevil says "My hearts go out to all you sinners!" The attack targets the entire party. He is literally sending his heart to all the "sinners".
This is honestly one of the best battles toby has ever made, even compared with sans, this was way more dynamic, the music is awesome and for those who likes bullet hells or, this feels strongly challenging but still gives you a window to win fairly, loved it, I'll have a save just to keep playing against him.
Despite they were harder, and I beat them too, Jevil felt way funnier to me, more dynamic and way better fluid, it truly shows how toby has improved in his fight system. With undyne and sans I ended like "Oh thank god" but jevil I as all happy to beat him, it felt like a deserved win. Basically, more difficult doesnt mean better, thats the difference between touhou and other copycats for example.
@@mememantan5985 Tbh, Sans and Undyne were basically based on pattern recognition and without ever playing Undertale in my life, I passed them under a couple of hours. They were not a real challenge once you knew the exact pattern for each step, when to heal, etc... I'm still struggling to fight Jevil because he's a lot more unpredictable (sometimes, he switches sides in his attacks, etc) and there's a lot of bullet hell stuff in his fighting, which makes me pull my hair out. I hate bullet hells. Big turn-off, considering it's my first "undertale" gamethrough, but at least it's more of a challenge recquiring more adpative skills, and the music is fantastic as always.
I remember when me and my sister were fighting Jevil (She was playing, I was watching helpfully in the background) when Ralsei cast Pacify we just froze, stared at each other, then just cheered and whooped....took her two days, which I was impressed because I thought it would take much longer!
I was traumatized by this fight It took me three weeks to defeat him and I only defeated him ONCE Everytime I hear “metamorphosis” “I can do anything” or “chaos! Chaos!” I go into fight or flight
@Destiny I'm a pacifist in undertale and deltarune, which means I didn't fight sans, which means jevil was the first nightmare in both games for me. I beat him in under 4 or 3 hours... either I'm a pro or everyone else is horrible. For the sake of humanity, let's hope it's option 1...
@Heinrich Himmler sans took me 2 days to beat but I don't remember how many tries I did because I stopped playing after some tries and tried it again the next day. Some of Jevil's bullet pattern feels very similar to Undyne (?), interestingly I remember I could get by just fine back then, but I'm rusty playing this kind of game again now lol.
I myself took like 4 months of constant tries to beat him using every item I could lol That fateful day, I won on my third try... And now every time I fight him, such as the time when I replayed Deltarune for fun, replayed for Chapter 2 when it came out, and replayed because I lost all my save data due to getting a new PC, I have beaten him within 5 tries every time. Usually it's my second try. I still hate the Carousel attacks. Ring around was never that difficult tho yet somehow people are still mad about it
It took me about a week of on/off tries to beat Jevil. And I did it the hard way by beating him up… do Spamton NEO first, it’s easier but hones your skills for Jevil.
Plus since some of the characters seem to be based on toys, I’d imagine the Jevil may be a Jack-in-a-box from the way his head springs off when he gets damaged and his cell being his “box”.
Me: *snaps Thanos* Thanos: how did you do it without ANY stones Me: four simple words can answer that Thanos: QUICK! Tell me before I die! Me: I CAN DO ANYTHING! Thanos: NOOOOOOO *dies* Me: I'ma sleep for the next 100 years now

Even without the stones, Thanos stomps by all merits. Thanos is a lot stronger than threats who could shrug off moon level blasts like they were nothing, saying that Jevil's winning against him is completely fallacious.
"Sans is the hardest boss in Undertale" Jevil: "Hold my beer" EDIT: for the record, I don't agree with this comment anymore, as I've fought this boss so many times to the point that the randomness of the attacks isn't much of a problem to me
@@chroniclej2439 Sans and Jevil have VERY different combat styles. Sans is extremely punishing, but ultimately his attacks are also extremely consistent and it boils down to pattern recognition and muscle memory. Once you've memorized his patterns, it's really not that hard to win again. Jevil on the other hand is CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS! His attacks are a lot more forgiving than Sans, especially since you have 3 characters to back each other up, but the patterns are much harder to predict and it relies more on reflexes, skill, and just a bit of luck to beat. You could bumble your way to a victory and then still get wrecked the next 20 tries. And even though Jevil might not be as hard as Sans in the end, he's certainly on par with Undying Undyne, and he's just the bonus boss for CHAPTER 1. I can't wait to get my ass kicked the next few chapters :v
@@0332288 If you go back to Seam after defeating Jevil, you can get some backstory behind the pair, how they were friends on the royal court, but Jevil started acting weird when he met a certain someone, and few interesting facts, how Jevil was just a smallfry compared to what's coming, about the futility of your actions and end of the world coming.
Question: Can he be killed or not because I played against I wasn't able to deplete his health (because I was getting more annoyed by him and I tried to kill him)?
@@chexgeam6598 you cant technically kill him. Because if you try to kill, he exhausted and stop fighting. Instead, he turned into jevilsknife and give it to you. Maybe you can toss away the jevilsknife
I love how Jevil never lets up not even for a second. It's like Sans where the attacks keep on coming at you and they are extremely powerful and deal massive damage and are somewhat difficult to avoid.
I love how his attacks are some of the hardest in the game simply because of the near limitless amount of projectiles and how trippy some of the attacks are. Especially the carousel and a the spiral spade attacks.

@@hugo__ If you stay in the top-right and align yourself with the opening for the first circle and then let both waves from it pass, then line up for the next circle and do that again, you will come out fine.
@@hugo__ a consistent way to survive the attack is to "exit" the circle and stay behind the spades that are about to cross the middle. It’s been years since I’ve seen the Jevil fight but just rewatching it activated the muscle memory in my fingers, my hand still has ptsd from this fight
Interesting how the one time your choice on fighting or sparing actually matters in the slightest is when you’re fighting the embodiment of chaos. The one time you have any actual freedom, and even then the only change is what item you get afterwards.
Technically there is one other after the fight with King the cutscene changes depending on if fought or spared. The true interesting factor is that he also mentions the Mysterious Knight.
clonecamando9 So what you’re saying is that anyone influenced by “the knight” allows the game to have alternate consequences...or something along those lines
@@ninjamaster9094 Seems to be that way. Though there are like minor differences if you play through fighting rather then showing mercy towards your enemies. Like the different dialogue when defeating Susie and Lancer through fighting. outcomes are the same with minor differences. Though I wonder what the significance of the ending is exactly or if Jevil was prophesizing it or what not. Then there is also the queen that he mentions maybe something similar to Kris already happened to Susie with how she acts through the first part of the game.
Yeah really not hard... it is only the last few attacks that bear problems, where his idle sprite duplicates itself. All suite attacks, the carousel, heck even the sickles have a straightforward pattern until he tpsses in the red one
Macaroni and Cliches you could also just hit him until his hp runs out. Trust me on this one, dialogue changes a little bit no one dies from fighting in this game. Remember, your choices don’t matter 🙃
Stock Fedora Guy hmmm, now that I think of it, I want to go see if getting that wep makes K. Round killable, since you normally can’t out-damage it’s buffed 700 hp milk. EDIT: I’m stupid you don’t get access to the elevator to go to Jevils room until after the K. Round rematch EDIT2: I'm actually super stupid, you use the first elevator out of the dungeon to get to Jevil, not the shortcut one at the end
Just as a tip, the trick to the spade circle is that every spade is pointing directly at another spade. Just pick a spot between two spades and none of the spades in the circle can hit you. I know it's not as glamorous but it's pretty cheesable haha
Maelstromof Chaos I can create spades, hearts, and diamonds by drawing them in acquires watching them as they destroy the beds,TVs, and neighbors eyeballs...oh I forgot, clovers to, if only I could create Jevil to
There’s an easier way to dodge the circle of spades: you go to the edge of the box, and sit at a gap between them. There’s about half a second before each “round” to adjust your position to be in a gap for the next “round”. Ps. If anyone has tips for the carousal or “chains” it would be nice…those are the main 2 attacks I consistently gain damage from…
1 thing that greatly helped me with the carousal attack: The heads don't have hitboxes, take advantage of that. But I'm pretty sure you won this battle by now, so maybe you know this already
@@Galaxy-hp3yy Check the Deltarune wiki. Toby Fox literally confirmed it. Also japanese the voice line says "真のネオカオス" (shin no neokausu) which means "TRUE AND NEO CHAOS".
For those trying to do this here's some helpful advice for using Kris's Pirouette, it goes off a 1-9 round cycle where each round grants a different effect 1 does nothing special 2 drops Jevil's defense 3 Increases Jevi's hit rate 4 Increases party's defense 5 Sends out a bird (aka nothing) 6 Heals Kris 7 Jumbles everyone's health pools 8 powers up Jevil's next attack 9 Heals all members
The jumbling of the health is what won it for me. It gave Ralsei Susie's health which made him the only survivor in the end so I was able to pacify him.
Word of advice: For the circle of spades attack all you need to do is mirror the empty space between two that have not yet lanched and just don't move, it has worked every time for me
I found it easy to just exit the circle when the first one attacks and circle around, the hitbox is forgiving so you can cut edges and still not getting hit even when they begin to move faster, but if your method is reliable it's way more practical :')
Something interesting: Winning the fight by Killing Jevil gives you a item called Devilsknife, a weapon for Susie While winning the fight pacifistically you get a item called Jevilstail, and idk what it does. Devilsknife: Reduces Rudebusters cost by 10, increases damage for Susie by 3 Jevilstail: I don’t know I haven’t been him pacifist yet, if you know, tell me in the comments.
It gives you +2 to attack, defense and magic, but doesn't seem to do anything else. The item description is "A J-shaped tail that gives you devil energy"
Deltarune's secret bosses so far have been both fascinating and nightmarish at the same time, uncanny and curious, repelling and inviting. Toby does spectacular work.
Dimentio was probably even worst.... while Jevil nearly managed to kill the main characters, Dimention Managed to destroy the world (Which then gets reversed by Tippi and Bleck.)
Susie: Don't worry, he doesn't look like a threat.
Ralsei: Susie, he's fully voice acted.

"From now on, a nightmare will awaken in your hearts. In the shadow of the knights hand..." Interesting. Given what happens in the end.

I don't have played Deltarune and I just LOVE how Jevil is a beautiful paradox:
When you approach the cell door he says a marvelous fun is about to BREAK FREE
*invites you lot to enter their cell*
He claims to be a free being
*Despite to being imprisoned for who knows when*
He begins a fight of live or death (at least for us the players, Jevil proclaims their body can't be destroyed)
*And yet he calls all this a "GAME"*
Jevil says he's getting exhausted
*Instead of calming down he starts to jump madly all over the scenario, to the point of doubling himself and attacking you from different fronts at the same time. And his attacks are more fierceful and violent*
And in a life where choices really doesn't matter
*he lives by his own rules and proclaims HE CAN DO ANYTHING*
I thinks Jevil's own power is the *AUTODETERMISM* : by believing he can do anything (or believing that in a life without a free will he can choose to do anything he wants without fear of consequences) he really begins to break the shackles that ties him and everyone to a life without the freedom of choice. And in the little space that is his cellroom he can choose to be allmighty and invincible and by believing so then *he is.* Is like Tom Bombadill from the tales of Tolkien: An omnipotent being IF he stays inside within the limits of his own domain which is his own home and surroundings.

This is honestly one of the best battles toby has ever made, even compared with sans, this was way more dynamic, the music is awesome and for those who likes bullet hells or, this feels strongly challenging but still gives you a window to win fairly, loved it, I'll have a save just to keep playing against him.
Sans is harder imo
Sans and Undyne were much harder than this IMO.

@@mememantan5985 Tbh, Sans and Undyne were basically based on pattern recognition and without ever playing Undertale in my life, I passed them under a couple of hours. They were not a real challenge once you knew the exact pattern for each step, when to heal, etc...

"metamorphosis"
I myself took like 4 months of constant tries to beat him using every item I could lol
That fateful day, I won on my third try...

It gives you +2 to attack, defense and magic, but doesn't seem to do anything else. The item description is "A J-shaped tail that gives you devil energy"
It's armor, but that's all I can tell ya, I haven't beat him yet. x.x
None of your actions matter dude.
It says so in the beginning of the game. Pacifist or not.
They don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but they do matter minorly in terms of what you get and
what you experience towards the end.
I wonder what it means with the phrase "This body cannot be killed"
it means it sees itself as invincible.
Spoiler: It isn't.
i think he means it as a reference to mad dummy
There is also a constant mention of a Knight with hints of this entity being an orchestrator or working to bring about something
@@EnglishAaron And he says he'll haunt you in your dreams... it sounds like a foreshadowing of the pacifist ending, maybe?
It most likely is invincible.
Keep in mind you don't actually kill him no matter what you do
Deltarune's secret bosses so far have been both fascinating and nightmarish at the same time, uncanny and curious, repelling and inviting. Toby does spectacular work.
What I would give for a FRACTION of Toby’s creativity lmao
Dimentio's insane cousin, jesus christ
They're both batshit crazy tho
And Dimentio isn’t, tf?
Imagine if these two met, holy hell
are you talking about this dimentio? (super paper mario)
Dimentio was probably even worst.... while Jevil nearly managed to kill the main characters, Dimention Managed to destroy the world (Which then gets reversed by Tippi and Bleck.)
Jevil: I CAN DO ANYTHING!!
Kris and ralsei: can you target susie?
(Jevil sweats nervously)
SaltySobbleXD Susie : *OH NO*
*I can do anything*
Wait, anything?
Anything.
Anything?
Yes, anything!
ANYTHING???
Pls sleep...
That second part was suppose to be “Wait.. Did you say Anything?” But I like what you did there 😂

Jevil: *HAS VOICE LINES*
