First time fighting the boss so I apologize if it's sloppy.

This is definitely Toby's response to people asking for a full Mettaton NEO boss fight

spamton’s dialogue is always so funny but when you really take the time to read it, it really seems like he knows that kris is under the control of the player. and based on kris’ reaction after the fight, it really affected their mental state
maybe kris is terrified of the idea that when they break their strings, or break away from the control of the player, they’ll die just like spamton
Ooh that’s actually a cool theory! That could have been why at the end of chapter 2 kris went back to put their soul back in themself

Yeah, it makes sense. Kris looks like they’re clearly in pain/having trouble walking without the SOUL in them, just limping everywhere. No wonder they keep putting the SOUL back in and letting themselves be subject to their strings again. They need to.
The "do you wanna be a heart on a chain your whole life" is pretty clear 🤔

I just realized while spamton is hanging on the vines after the fight, he doesn’t do his whole [HYPERLINK BLOCKED] thing, he just talks normally. Honestly it’s probably creepier that way.

The way he talks is because whoever said the garbage noise in the phone call he was in shattered his insanity, likely telling him that where he lives in is just a game like how that someone corrupted Jevil into the way he is now.
It's pretty neat that his theme is an amalgamation of "Power of NEO" and "The World Revolving".
With bits of Mad Dummy in there as well, I would note. Really fits with the puppet aesthetic, and a couple of his lines.

Jevil and Spamton seem to both be linked with wanting or obtaining freedom, with Spamton wanting to be freed from his strings and no longer be a puppet, and Jevil apparently being the only one who has escaped, or been freed from some sort of fate.
Edit 1: And both their secret battles have this same line in the speech box: “The air crackles with freedom.”
Not only that, the fight seems to have effected Kris in a way that we don’t really understand. Perhaps he realizes his actions aren’t truly his own, and is angry.
If we follow this order, than maybe the soullest version of Kris is going to be the secret final boss of the game, wanting to be freed from this soul that keeps restraining it

@@dragirby Spamton has line about begging the audience to stop taking his furniture, which brought to mind repo men taking the possessions of someone who has fallen on hard times. That line hit me harder than I expected.
The end is a little sad. After realizing it is truly impossible for him to be free, he gets his sanity back right before the end.

he's not dead in item form! he's still alive. : ) he tells you off if you fill your inventory and sulks in a chest somewhere.

I mean, he’s with us now.
His speech at the end freaked me out, especially when the gang discusses it afterwards ("Kris, you're screaming" will haunt me for days). I imagine that this running thread of "seeking freedom" (in a cosmic sense) will carry across the rest of the bosses, and be related to some kind of secret ending. Spamton says he wonders if the gang will be able to "break their own strings" implying that they'll be freed of the game's rules? Deltarune's had the removal of choice be a common theme, so maybe they'll "escape the game", no longer letting the game (or you) make their decisions for them?
Well when he first drops down before the fight he's staring directly at the player before turning to Kris
The last chapter's secret fight will end with a small live action cutscene of three people dressed as the gang walking around the real world, possibly with Susie asking Kris where the hell they are

Honestly I don't believe the removal of choice is even a real feature, seems like it's been forgotten because it seems like a lot of your choices matter in this.

Noelle may be an exception since she's not part of the 3 heroes, so you could manipulate her to do your deeds

You know what fucked me up after the fact when seeing this is that at the beginning, when you're in the traffic jam and Undyne is bench pressing a car, if you wait there for long enough, some of the car horns play the Mettaton intro.

I just noticed that there's still a city background throughout the entire battle and since they're in the basement of the castle, aren't they technically surfing the dark web?

@@Kingofdragons117 I think its a metaphor that there are a bunch of people like Spamton, trying to sell you something. Or it might literally be there are other Spamton robots in Spamton shaped buildings doing exactly what our Spamton did before he received that phone call.

Toby has an inside joke with himself where he refers to bugs as bepis, people discovered that by digging in the code
@@leedlelel2373 The reason for the clam part is because there's a type of invasive clam that's called a pipi in Australia so the plural form is "pipis".
So the thing is, Spamton wanted to be FREE, and the only way he think he could do that is to get Kris' soul, not knowing that Kris too is a puppet just like him. When Kris cut the last of his wires puppeteering him, Spamton lay dead, having lost all control of his life. This is similar to when Kris threw the heart away, but didn't destroy the heart, because he knows what will happen when he cuts the string that's controlling his life.

Sure, this fight is so heavily Mettaton-loaded lore, but... part of his theme is also part of the Mad Dummy's battle theme. ...am I reading too hard into this, this particular tidbit.
I mean, they ARE cousins and close enough that they are living together.
There's the fact that this dude's a puppet, which is pretty similar in principle to a dummy, along with the Mad Dummy's relation to Metatton in Undertale of course.

I'm just really amazed that of all the characters to cram into this secret boss, part of the honor went to Mad Dummy. ...that asides though, all the music is definitely lit this chapter, Toby's musical prowess makes me want to scream--

I've only dabbled in both games, so my question/theory is: If the ghosts aren't in this game and given the graveyard being so prominent at the beginning, maybe there's some life/death/ghost shenanigans afoot?
Spamton's last wire getting cut broke me like Asgore breaking mercy
The spamton scene reminded me of fnaf when golden freddy eats the kids head. Idk how i dont see more people mentioning that. Both insanely unnerving
@@sadiaaa1373 Theres a big difference, FNAF is a horror game, this isn't. The mindset you are in while playing a game really effects how scary things can be.
For anyone having any significant trouble with this fight, pressing F1 at any point during it will heal your whole party for around 70 HP! Being able to do this is even hinted in the first fight, with one of the things Spamton is able to say being "Press F1 for help."
Is that a 1 time thing, or no?

I swear, the only reason why people think he’s easier than Jevil, is because you have more health in this fight and more acces to different and better items. Two hits from this guy would kill you if you had less health.
His attacks are also easier to dodge in general. The only attack that is harder than Jevil's are the ones where he creeps up to you with phones.
Wouldn't that mean they're technically easier? Not by their own design but just from a game design standpoint.
I beat the snowgrave fight on second try and it took me 11 tries for jevil

A GAM THEROY: There are 7 secret bosses, with 7 Shadow Crystals given to each of them by Gaster throughout all the chapters.
In order to break the lock to access the bunker, you need a weapon crafted with all the 7 shadow crystals and break the lock in the Light World.

Pretty fitting that Jevil and Spamton are linked in some way and both (At least to my knowledge) are the only ones with actual talking in their battles that isn't confined to the text boxes

Have you ever realised that Spamton uses diamonds in his heart chain attack? He's the only resident of Cyber World (i think) that attacks using Card suits. You can even say he's attacking with both hearts and diamonds. Even Queen, who is the literal Queen of Spades, didn't attack using spades.
Not sure if this means anything or if that attack just happens to use bullets that look like the diamonds on cards
Have you also noticed that Jevil uses 'Chaos'-based attacks, has a revolving background, and can’t die? Hmm, which extremely powerful being from this series has those same characteristics?

He just fell, with his dead face, the music stopped, the background turned black and it stayed like that for more than ten seconds

What’s odd is that the final string looks as if it was not cut by itself, rather it was cut by someone.
I just noticed a really small detail. At the end, Spamton asks Kris to cut him loose. The player doesn't have a typical "cut loose / do not" choice. Kris legit outright does it in the blink of an eye, no animation or anything.

Mettaton himself is a lighner, but his roboboic bodies would not be as they are just machines powered by SOUL, and seeing as the dark world is that of fiction seemingly, it would make sense that if ASRIEL was working on something like undertale but never completed it (as seen in his computer) that maybe fragments of the data would remain buried on the library computers, as probably he worked on it there too

Happstablook is a thing in deltarune, which is the closest we can get to mettaton. Although I kinda doubt he somehow collaborated with Swatch

@@metalmk8714 I mean Jevil is also the secret boss that you fight with regular mechanics (Assuming all secret bosses use different Soul colors) so him being a stand out in a sense makes sense
I finally found why Mettaton's body is down there!
If you talk to Swatch (the head buttler that runs the castle's shop) after beating Spamton, he tells you that a lightner made it
Someone using the computer drew it (with the help of Swatch since he is the embodiment of the color of the computer) and saved it but it was essentially someone's dream that remained a dream since nobody could make the body
At some point the drawing even got corrupted along with a lot of data (which is nothing uncommon for a computer that is publicly accessible) which is why it is in the basement (everything there is meant to be corrupted data)
That someone who drew it appears to be the "Nobody" in Napstablook's house, also known as Hapstablook or Mettaton
A very powerful foe. Makes me wonder about the next chapter.
The "Sans vs Jevil" stuff was great, but I'm admittedly curious what the "Jevil vs Spamton Neo" stuff is gonna look like.

Spamton gives you a dealmaker when you spare him but he gives you a puppets scarf if you kill him. I know they say that delta rune will only have 1 ending but what if the items given to you by the secret bosses can determine which ending you get.
The eeriest part is that spamton starts speaking in normal text when you defeat him. Creepy as hell
I love how this fight teaches you how the yellow soul works and how it differs from the one in Undertale without saying anything.

Yep toby included parts of mettaton neo song and the world revolving in the song (mettaton neo song part is probably there because of how much they have in common like the heads mettaton uses something similar) sorry for bad English is not my first language lol

His whole fight took a dark turn, because he will NEVER be free from being a puppet, and now he understands that..
holy shit i found this completely on my own as opposed to the jevil fight and it was so insane to see this battle, all the slight references in the theme to mettaton neo and puppet too were so damn cool

i just noticed something sort of terrifying. when spamton's first pops down, his head uses a sprite never seen before. judging by the silhouette, he is facing directly at the camera before looking at kris, and then looking down. if intentional it holds very interesting implications
Weird that Rouxls Kaard seems to try to use the same kind of charge shot Kris & Spamton Neo have right before he turns to stone. He also bares some resemblance to Gaster & he talks in a weird unnatural way like Gaster, Jevil, & Spamton.
I feel like Rouxls' way of speaking isn't natural, and he just talks that way to try and seem smart and regal.

Spamton is not only a puppet of the one that talked to him over the phone, he also resembles something else. Spam emails are often bots that are randomly sent however, there’s always a person who created that bot. A person pulling the strings.
Not sure if I’m overlooking comments about it, but the variation of his theme that plays at the beginning when he’s talking to Kris prior to Susie and Ralsei showing up is really really good. It’s got the main Spamton melody without all the leitmotifs Big Shot contains but no one’s posted it anywhere that I can find nor is it in the official OST but the version of it that plays at the end of the Snowgrave Spamton Neo fight people have at least posted (though it’s also not on the OST either.) Just curious where this one might be, it’s such a cool atmosphere set up for this guy!
I was having trouble with this fight and started to get impatient. Of course, now that I've finally beat him, I miss fighting him so much. He was so fun...

The little theme you hear at 6:11 is the same (or really similar) to the one you hear at the end of _Dummy!_ (Mad Dummy’s theme)

Here's a quick guide to get through to him
Beat the game, ok, so when you go to a warp door, go to the trash zone, when you arrive, go left, there is a gaping hole in the fencing, that's where the shop is, try to get a low price on the keygen he's selling buy hitting select at the right time, you can get as low as 44 g on it, talk with him about every topic you can, he'll mention a basement to you at some point.
In the queen's castle, there's a statue room to the right of the warp door, slap Z on everything until something activates and you get a "something opened" prompt. Go down the hall in the bottom middle and interact with the impossible barrier, that device in Spamton's shop will disable it, go to the door after it and follow it into a rusty area, sort of a decrepid basement.
Go on the rotating screw platform and walk down the hall you arrive at, do not lose health, in the last door, you need to go in and touch the cyan thing, then go back up, you should save before the trip down, you're dodging things on the way down. Once the barrier is open, go in and follow the path, there's a room with 3 rail paths, go right and you will see a door that was off screen, go in and walk until you see a dangling robot that resembles Mettaton's torso from when Alphys was repairing him in the wall with a shiny object in its chest. You will get the empty Disc.
This is Spamton's point of no return, if you give him the disc and hit transer, his shop will close down, though it's obvious that he's kinda still there. Once you get the LoadedDisc from Spamton, return to that robot that you had spent time on and interact with its remains once, then walk away and out of the room. Go to leave and you will be intercepted by Spamton NEO. That is when the fight is initiated and your friends save you, shortly before being wisked away into 3 ruggedy coaster karts. Welcome to Spamton NEO, the Mettaton NEO knockoff that wants your asses dead.

Also I think people should save away from the boss fight area. For some reason, I was stuck fighting him until I beat him. Everytime I tried to go back, he would scream and stop us.

The fact that he just.. fell to the ground when his final string is cut just gave me big chills but I do feel bad for him though as he just wanted to escape his strings and have some friends again, but life wasn't that fair to him but it never was from the start
I think that you did give Spamton freedom in a way. Those wires he was attached to caused all sorts of glitches in his head, his speech, and now that he's off the line so to speak, while he can't move, he's mentally free. But now he relies on Kris to move, so he's walked from one cage to another. Same with Jevil.
Jevil chose to see the inside of his cage as his freedom, because he rationalized that he chose to be there, trying to delude himself that he was free, repeating "I can do anything!". But after fighting Kris he made his first real choice, to give his freedom to him. He exited the cage, but he exchanged his "freedom" for "freedom", being bound to Kris. But he made his first, real choice. He chose to become a "main character" outside of his normal role.
First jevil elludes to the fact of being "free" and how it can make you feel lonely and spamton builds on this fact by basically saying "don't let others control you" and "be your own person" but those thoughts aren't always good...is deltarune just going to be an over glorified good message?
i just like that little detail of how the world revoleing is over lapping the power of neo.

Hapstablook (Metta's original ghost body) made a drawing in the computer lab one day that was basically his dream form, aka Neo.
It's possible Spamton modified the armor when uploading himself into the robot, or it simply looked like that when Hapstablook drew it in the lab.

Managed to beat this guy blind on my first go, had to use every item and finished off with Susie down and kris and ralsei in the yellow.

I love how the secret bosses' fights reflect the mentality of the bosses themselves.
With Jevil, chaos is the best way to describe it. Your ACTs might not even do anything, and all the wiki says about the attacks is something like: "Many of Jevil's attacks contain fast moving projectiles".
With Spamton, everything has HIM on it. Every attack has his face on it in some way, the background has his face, almost everything about the fight is about him. I think this not only shows how in his mind, everything has to be about him in some way, but also how he is completely alone.
I feel bad for spamton, all he wanted to to be free, but even if he got his hands on kris’ soul, he would just be a puppet again, this time for someone else, someone worse then Mike.

Heres what i think of it, obviously i can say with confidence that jevil and spamton are one in the same. They met gaster, somethin somethin about freedom and they went batshit insane due to exposure from him. 2 thing i never see people talk about is 1. Spamtons [placeholder line] that he does half the time he talks, i think its gastering trying to filter out what hes saying to stop him from revealing too much about him sense gaster has remained mostly unknown in motive this game but his existance is very appearent. Back on point spamton in some cases sounds like hes struggling to cry for help or tell kris something but the filters stop him from revealing too much. The 2nd point is that the reason toby could be saying undertale isnt related to deltarune is because thats what the game is trying to do is keep undertale from surfacing out of the game. For example sans denies his brothers existance or says you cant see him, in chapter 1 you were told that nobody can choose who they are in this world yet in chapter 2 because YOU cant kill anyone you find a way around the system in the alternate route. I think whats going on here is that gaster being stuck in the void of undertale accumulated the power to make deltarune off of the ashes of undertale. He probably copied undertale into another reality that he is slightly more tangible in as hes technically the benevolent force of deltarune while still not exactly being god. Knowing that this is a copy though he tries to seal every possible existing hole in deltarune that shows a shred of undertales events ever happening. Chara still exists in kris though giving her the oppertunity to create fountains maybe in an effort to redo gasters fake world. Maybe the titans arnet physical but representations of memory. As for gaster he could possibly still be looking for a host to permanently remain physical for, he promises both jevil and sampton freedom in exchange for asking for the lightners soul which explains why both jevil and sampton attempt to kill kris and his crew for the soul. His plans are to either get rid of kris to stop undertale from surfacing ever again sense he knows your the player or he plans on using it to become full time tangible. But yeah theres my over the top theory that nobodys gonna ever have the time to read.
Has anyone realized that theres 3 Undertale references in the song? Theres bits from “Death by Glamour”, ”Dummy!” And “NGAHH!”. And 2 in the actual fight, the damage sound is the same as with Undertale and the battle is almost the same way as with Mettatron EX

I feel like this battle shows a bit of Toby’s true emotions when making this chapter. Insanity from all the people impatiently waiting for another part, his real life on the side adding to the mix, the phone calls from so many. His heart really could have felt like it was on a chain… the only thing expected from him is more games. Like a puppet with strings, he’s the puppet, and we are the puppet master, making his life hell because of our nonstop want for more…
Jevil A fool who thinks he's free to do whatever he pleases
Spamton a deal maker who truly isn't in control
The Queen not knowing about the roaring and now is responsible of things that needs to be fixed this actually shows that Kris fixed alot of things but him freaking out after realizing he's just like spamton, just another puppet enable to do whatever they pleases, being forced to do what they don't want to do, which also shows why Kris is trying to remove their soul because without the soul they can gain full control but can't remove it because something or someone is forcing them to put it back
A joker card that is not used and locked away during games and a spam ad that's usually blocked and ignored by most. Both are usually up for debate on what they actually do. One can hypothecally be anything. And the other's true nature is completely unknown. But both trapped, either by bars or strings. One truly believes that he is free within his prison. While the other wants to be free of his strings, but cannot live on without them
What could be next? Chapter 3 can't come sooner

This scene. This scene will always be impressed in my mind. The first time i played it, i actually thought i was about to get a happy ending, then this happened.
This scene sent chills down my spine so hard I genuelly started shaking. Like you said, I thought I'd be doing the good thing, that I was going to see a happy ending. But, heh, I was very, VERY wrong.
I think whatever happened to Jevil happened to him, one reason I think they're connected is because Jevils' theme played at some point in his
Spamton somehow manages to feel like an Undertale boss. His motivation is to take your soul, both his attack and your soul change clolor, his attacks are much better dodged than grazed, and there is something else that I can't quite put my finger on, but still feel it
Jevil danced merrily outside the cage, while Spamton Neo is bound to the wall with strings...
