Why are they being so stingy with the romance-able candidates here? Weird… maybe they’re planning to add a bunch more later, but it doesn’t seem like they’re going to add more very quickly… Sandrock has so many candidates.
I'm only assuming but there are feedbacks from the My Time community that the romance content weren't equal among the romanceables in both Portia and Sandrock so maybe the developers are limiting the candidates here for more character growth and content. 🤔

Thanks for the good answers, people! That makes me less salty about it. I was lucky in Sandrock because I found Unsuur a charming partner while I waited for Logan to be available, so my need for a romantic story was on hold until an enormous amount of love story was available. But that’s definitely true, many of the partners didn’t have much going on. My daughters were so disappointed that Justice barely had any clothing options, much less a story of his own. The romantic choices left them feeling a bit whiplashed- since Haru wasn’t an option, they went for Fang, but man, was that a different relationship dynamic! (And Portia was much weaker.)
There are almost 20 romancable characters. The they are differentiating between core, and minor romancable characters. There will be a total of 10 cores, and the rest minors.
Was here to say Madeline as well. She has great design and curious to see how the characters we met through sandrock get expanded apon. Also my no1 choice for romance.

Personality is definitely king! I get what you mean by a different body option, Burgess was definitely quite an interesting character in Sandrock--he is so sweet. In Evershine's survey, there was an option about body sizes, however, I think that's only for your character atm. But maybe if there's enough interest, the developers would consider.

There's no official confirmation yet for Evershine, but in the previous games we are able to romance same gender characters so I think it's the same for this game.

Knowing that Hua is a childhood friend of the player character, I can't vote for her. Nia was the Worst stage 5 clinger of a "friend" I don't want another one thanks.
